Lakefront cottage w/private dock, firepit, and grill located on all sports lake

Welcome to Turtle Haven! Once enjoyed by the hosts themselves where they made lasting memories as a family and hope the same for you!

The cottage offers 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and a large deck (plus balcony) overlooking all-sports School Section Lake with plenty of outdoor seating for enjoying lake views. Make smores by the firepit, grill up some dinner, play yard games (some provided) in the grass, swim off the dock (private boat ramp also avail if requested), or swim at the private beach 3 doors down.

Enjoy the home like it's your own. Smoking not permitted inside. Plenty of space for playing yard games during the day and enjoying the firepit at night. Can even work from "home" with wifi provided. Complimentary firewood will be provided. New in 2025 - Updated Water Filtration System - after several reviews about the water hardness/smell, we've added a new Culligan system with water that's great for drinking, bathing, etc.

The property is located among other houses on the lake with neighbors. Please drive slowly as you turn into the community and watch for children, pets, and those walking. It's a very friendly community with many nearby amenities such as Hixons grocery, Conley's bakery for donuts and more. There's parking for three vehicles on property.

Please check out the binder when you arrive for our favorite spots near the cottage! There's great golf nearby at Tullymore and St. Ives, Buckley's canoe livery, and two wineries within a short driving distance if you're looking for additional activities throughout your stay.

Great location, right on the lake. Enjoyed the kayaks and fire pit. Lots of little touches showed they cared that their guests feel welcome. The generations of our family made since great memories.

The view of the Lake is much much better from the living room then it is in the picture. Overall rooms were decently specious for our friends and family. Although there were some issues with the lock code the host was very responsive to resolve the issue.Other than some minor issues we really enjoyed our stay.

Great house, clean, nice bedrooms! Great girls get away: wish it had air conditioning for those humid hot days! Access to lake hard for special needs person with unsteady legs ; needed more of a direct walk out and beach! Views of lake were serene and peaceful ; very quiet ! Great deck! Nice stay and owners were responsive!

We stayed here for my best friends bachelorette! We loved the home and the quiet lake! Took a day trip to the soaring eagle casino and waterpark as well as tubing in big rapids!

Get away on the lake

Great little property on an equally great lake. Kids loved fishing from the dock and swimming in the private swim area that is only a couple of houses down.

Awesome place to stay!

We loved everything about this property. The house is in wonderful condition. The deck and dock are wonderful. We had family there arranging from age 72 to 4. There were eight of us and there was plenty of room. We would stay there again if we had that many people we were going to vacation with. This was a wonderful experience.

Perfect lake house!

Cute and quiet house on the lake - fantastic views and quiet. House was well-stocked with the basics and everything was comfortable. Our family met here from around the country for my son’s college graduation and it was very convenient to Big Rapids. We did not get to spend a lot of time at the house to relax because we were helping move our son’s stuff and get him settled down in Grand Rapids. Would definitely consider this for another stay in the future if we are back in the area!

Turtle Haven

Our family enjoyed the stay at this cozy home although it could use a little updating. We missed having a dishwasher and the deck could use varnish! The back yard view of the lake was great and we loved the fire pit. Parking was a bit tight! We got a lot of rain and the slate walkway was very slippery! Overall the place was nice!

Great stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at Turtle Haven. We had adults and four children ranging in age from 3-10 in our group, and everyone had a great time. The bedroom set up was perfect with a dedicated kids room with two bunk beds. The deck was great to relax on and look out on the water. The boat launch was only two doors down, so very convenient to launch our boat and bring it over to the private dock. The lake was clean and warm with a sandy bottom. We went kayaking one morning and it was beautiful and peaceful. There was plenty of firewood provided and the kids loved roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. The meighbors we met were friendly. The location was convenient; very close to a small town center with grocery store, gas station, and several restaurants. Overall, Turtle Haven was a wonderful stay and we wouldn’t hesitate to book again. :)

Good Property Overall

Our family stayed here for the Labor Day weekend and it worked out great since it was right next door to our other family’s cottage. We were able to go back and forth to each place since they were so close. Overall, Turtle Haven met our needs but there were a few issues that came up throughout the stay including the smell of sulfur (rotten eggs) in the water, a chair ripping when sat in for the first time, missing kitchen utensils (cutting board, can opener, etc), and not enough towels/sheets for everyone. However, despite these hiccups, it was still a nice place to stay and we did very much enjoy ourselves. The property was very cozy and clean, the deck was a great place to hang out, and we enjoyed relaxing on the lakeshore or in the cozy and spacious living area together. Thank you for a nice place to stay!

A perfect long weekend!

We stopped here for a long weekend before heading north for a family reunion. The kitchen is well equipped. The beds were comfortable. We had a nice warm day and enjoyed the kayaks. We had a rainy day and played cards, cooked, and enjoyed the views. Our last day was a bit cool so we sat around the campfire. Very relaxing, beautiful, quiet setting.

Lake cottage was fine

We used the cottage for a family reunion. The lakefront was extremely beautiful and the house is in a perfect location. The space was adequate for 4 adults. The water smelled sulphuric. Despite that, I would rent again in a heartbeat!

Perfect spot for us

We had a family reunion being hosted at Schoolsection Lake, when we started looking for places to stay overnight the hotel options were slim and I was just about to book at Soaring Eagle. Before booking there I thought maybe I would take a look and see if there was a place for rent on the lake, and by some miracle this place was available. We had a great time here. It’s your standard Up North Lake cottage. It was clean, on the water with a dock and a fire pit. Bring yourself, your drink of choice, a fishing pole or two (though they have a couple available in the shed) and that’s all you need … well some help from Mother Nature for good weather always helps. There isn’t air conditioning but that wasn’t an issue for us despite it being quite warm. You get mornings sun and sunrise and then about mid day the trees on the property take care of keeping the home in the shade. With the windows open and fans on you get great airflow and it’s comfortable and you get fresh air as well. Overall, this was a great experience for us.

Extended Family Vacation

We rented two other cottages on the lake and this was mainly used for sleeping and the kayaks. The inside is as nice as it looks and the firewood was well stocked if you wanted a bon fire.

Lake front stay

Home was beautiful and the view stunning. We stayed for a work project at Soaring Eagle. The peacefulness was what we needed. Turtle Haven is well worth the visit.

Family vacation

We are from Washington state, met with son, wife and three grandchildren. The home was more then we expected, furnished nice, good beds, Fantastic view, wonderful deck and dock. All of us truly had a wonderful vacation. Thanks to our hosts.
