Whether you are here for a romantic weekend, family gathering or simply to get away from it all, once you visit Falling Leaf Cabin you will never want to leave.
The Cabin is privately owned and family operated, offering all the comforts of home.
The Falling Leaf Cabin features 2 bedrooms, Queen Beds in each and 1 & 1/2 Baths. The main bedroom is a spacious loft with sky lights, while the large second bedroom has a private half bath. The fully equipped Kitchen leads to a cozy back deck with a beautiful view of the Massanutten Mountain. The Living Room offers a real wood burning stone fireplace with 18' vaulted ceilings. Hardwood and tile floors throughout complement this cozy retreat.
Outside, listen to the sounds of the river as you relax on the large deck in the 4 person Hot Tub. Adjacent to the Hot Tub, a fire pit and picnic table await those who desire a camping experience.
The Cabin is located 9 miles outside the quaint town of Luray, Virginia and within a 30 minute drive of many popular attractions such as Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns and Golf Course and horseback riding. For winter sports enthusiasts, Massanutten Ski Resort is a short 45 minute drive.
The Falling Leaf Cabin is open year round for you to enjoy a quiet retreat in all of the seasons.
My mother moved to the Shenandoah Valley in 1969 with 3 children and 1 one the way. I was the one on the way. In the fall of 1970, My Uncle Joe, Aunt Jackie and my mother, Nancy, began Shenandoah River Outfitters with two old aluminum canoes and a dream.
Andrea purchased this cabin in 2009
I started Mountain Whisper Cabins in 2005 after purchasing the cabin I grew up in and settling back into the Valley. The Falling Leaf was added to my cabin business in 2009.
The Falling Leaf log cabin has beautiful views, wood burning fireplace and is nestled within walking distance to the Legendary Shenandoah River.
We celebrate our anniversary in a cabin every year. This year, our 20th, was perfect in this sweet little cabin.
Let me start with the "above and beyond" ... someone had left the tarp off the firewood pile so the wood was soaked. Andrea brought us dry firewood from her home!
Finally an uncluttered cabin free of knickknacks.
One of the nicest cabin kitchens we've encountered.
Well stocked with matching items (that really resonated with this neat freak).
Insulated carafe coffee pot was wonderful for leisurely mornings.
Covered deck and clean/splinter free two person rocking chair! We nearly lived out there. With the down throw we brought we even enjoyed coffee out there each morning.
Super easy to get to from DC metro area.
Bedroom loft upstairs had enough space to put up our large portable camping kennel for our greyhound to sleep in. For those with small children, a pack n' play would fit well.
Nighttime is NIGHTTIME! No city lights seeping into the bedroom. Dark dark...wonderful sleep.
Being able to hear the river from the bedroom while we drifted off!
We aren't hot tub people, but the hot tub looked clean, hot and steamy when we peaked under the cover.
We didn't use the downstairs, but a lovely additional bed and bath down there.
We assumed it would be "cabin cold" at night, but this cabin has Mitubshi Electric heat/AC units that REALLY heat up the cabin. We didn't use them much as we prefer cooler temps, but boy even setting at 58 at night had us toasty when we came down for coffee.
The most refreshing COLDEST tap water!
Not as secluded as we had hoped, but we'd stay here again for sure.
The yard is quite muddy (Winter). Our greyhound wears boots when he goes outside so he doesn't bring in dirt at home, but since most dogs don't, we'd highly recommend dog owners bring baby wipes and ready all humans to kick off boots on the porch.
Don't venture out for a walk up the road to the right out the driveway. We were charged by a large snarling dog, from the last house at the end of the road and told the road was "private" property.
Water goes "off completely" when you first start to use bathroom or kitchen sink; don't panic, it comes back on in less than a minute.
This was LITERALLY my favorite vacation I have EVER been on. The views are breathtaking.
The hot tub melts your stress away. We relaxed in it night, day, and in rainstorms. Absolutely spectacular and away from noise and others. If you want privacy and relaxation THIS is the place to go! LOVED it so much and definitely want to come again one day! <3
My boyfriend and I stayed in Falling leaf last summer for a birthday weekend celebration. The cabin is beautiful, cozy and very clean. The location is great. We loved it and are planning another visit very soon.
Falling leaf was a perfect surprise getaway. I was looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life to do something different for my mother's birthday and the coziness of the cabin (complete with fireplace and hot tub!) did just that. We hiked down to the river (less than a mile) and were able to reconnect with one another and nature. The cabin is thoughtfully furnished and the kitchen well equipped. Although we went midweek as a surprise, I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking an easy weekend escape from DC area. Although pets are welcome, the place was impeccable and in excellent condition. Will certainly be back to admire the seasonal changes!
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful romantic getaway. One of the cleanest cabins I have ever stayed in with wonderful amenities, loved the hot tub with views of the river. One of the best nights was enjoying the hot tub in the falling snow. We also enjoyed some beautiful hikes.
We stayed at the Falling Leaf Cabin in February, 2015 for a romantic weekend getaway. The cabin and location are very nice. The views are beautiful, the porch swing and hot tub are nice, and there is a variety of attractions in the area. We take many trips to the Shenandoah area and keep returning because we love it there.
I strongly recommend that if you choose to rent Falling Leaf Cabin and bring a pet, that you make arrangements to do a walkthrough with the owner before you check out because she is very meticulous. This way, there are no issues after you depart and you can correct anything that is found on a walk through. We rent many pet friendly accommodations and have never had issues. Otherwise, it is a very nice and relaxing atmosphere.
