Cozy Oceanfront Home! Only 30 feet from the water!

Shelter Cove is on California's Lost Coast where the King Range meets the Pacific Ocean. It experiences mild temperatures year around, so summers are not too hot and winters not to cold.

Because of the very steep terrain on the coastal areas surrounding Shelter Cove, the highway builders constructing State Route 1 (the "Shoreline Highway") decided it was too difficult to build the coastal highway along this long stretch of what is now know as "the Lost Coast". As a result, the small fishing village of Shelter Cove remained very secluded from the rest of the populous state, despite being only 230 miles (370 km) north of San Francisco.

Today, Shelter Cove is accessible by boat, a short 40 minute drive from Hwy 101 through the redwood forrest or via the small private Shelter Cove Airport. As a result of its seclusion, the Shelter Cove area has become a popular spot for those seeking quiet vacation respite.

Shelter Cove offers many amenities including a 9 hole golf course, fishing charters, a spa, deli, coffee shop, a light house, hiking trails, community center, gift shops, a general store, BrewPub and great restaurants.

There are also parks such as Black Sands Beach, Mal Coombs Park, Seal Rock Picnic Area and Abalone Point. Much of the land around Shelter Cove is in the King Range National Conservation Area, which is managed by the Bureau of Land Management and available to be enjoyed by the public.

This home is not only located directly on the water, it is walking distance or a very short drive to everything Shelter Cove has to offer. It has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. A fully equip kitchen, fire place, wet bar, garage and all the amenities of home. Best of all it has full views of the ocean throughout the house and a beautiful private redwood deck only feet from the crashing waves. You can listen to the waves all day and night and watch the only blowhole in Shelter Cove right from the comfort of your chair.

Spectacular Views! The home is clean, comfortable, and has everything you’ll need, but the views make this property spectacular! We spent most of our time outside on the deck enjoying the view, ocean sounds, and the unique blowhole. We saw whales, a sea lion, and deer everywhere in Shelter Cove. It was also fun watching small aircraft take off and land while sitting on the deck. Owner was friendly and easy to communicate with. This was the second time we stayed at this property and we will definitely be back! I highly recommend.

Lost Coast

Perfect location: close to places to eat, community center, trailhead and the cove. We drove to Black Sands trailhead and dropped off three family member who hiked the Lost Coast Trail. We got to join the locals for bingo night at the community center and I took three yoga classes there too! We brought our golf clubs and golf balls and practiced putting on the golf course right across the street from the house. We enjoyed the Bistro, Ale Mill, Mario’s Marina Bar and Surf-point coffeehouse. We took an art workshop at the Makers Collective and got bodywork work done for massage.

Wonderful ocean front place

Overall we had an amazing stay. The house was cozy and nice. All the amenities are slightly dated, but worked well. Being right on the ocean was a special treat. We hope to return to this property in the future.

Great location and view

The view was even better in person than in the photos! We could have sat all day watching the waves and the fog roll in. The house was very comfortable and well stocked- the beds were especially comfortable. The location was great- and a very short walk up to 2 of the 3 restaurants in town.

On the ocean +++

This home is in a great location, clean, comfortable, and directly on the ocean. We've stayed in Shelter Cove many times at various properties and this was a unique experience being so close to the shoreline. Property manager was very responsive and helpful.

Beautiful views

Great views, lovely home, stocked with all the essentials. The house is close to the water and you can see and hear all the waves crashing, very relaxing. We would have loved to have stayed longer than 4 nights days and we will be coming back in the future.

Amazing Stay

We were a family of 6 (2 grandparents, 2 adults, 2 kids). The house was very clean and the house was super comfortable for all of us. The location was excellent, right on the ocean. Waking up to see waves crashing out in the ocean right outside of our window was pretty spectacular. Highly recommend, we would definitely stay here again if we visit Shelter Cove!

Incredible location, probably one of the best views in shelter cove with an unobstructed view of the the coast range to the north and the ocean just feet from the porch. Fret communication from the manager and owners.

Great winter wave watching

The house was big yet still managed to feel cozy and comfortable. The big picture windows facing the ocean gave us a continuous wave show. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of pots, knives and equipment and we had no problem creating festive meals for the eight people staying. Host and property owner were helpful and responsive. Would definitely stay again.
