A charming home from home and beautifully French!

We had a lovely, very comfortable, cosy stay “Chez Bernie”. The house is just SO French in style, SO close to the centre of Saint Omer and has a truly lovely feel about it. It is decorated with love and feels very much like a home. It is situated on a cobbled street leading to the Cathedral, is wonderfully old and full of charming character. Bernie has been a wonderful host, responding to all my questions and really went the extra mile for us. It’s a shame we couldn’t use the open fire due to local insurance however understood that it wasn’t a listed feature. We would SO love to return to Bernie’s, we had a fantastic stay. Thank you.

A month in Saint Omer

Our stay at Maison de Charme au Pied de la Cathedrale was fabulous. We were there for the month of October 2024. The location is superb with the cathedral being just a half block away. Plus, every bakery, butcher, seafood shop, grocery store, wine shop, clothing store, bar and restaurant you could imagine is no more than 3 blocks away, We walked everywhere. The Jardin Public is one block away where you will find hundreds of different trees from all over the world planted in the 1800's. And, St Omer has a bus service that runs about every 15 minutes to get you to and from anywhere in town for 1 euro ! The tourist office is right around the corner from the house. They are very helpful and patient, All the people we met in town were kind. The house has 3 stories. First floor has the kitchen, dining room, living room and one full bathroom. The kitchen is big and fun to cook in. It has a great stove and ovens. There is plenty of counter space, 2 refrigerators, dishwasher, clothes washer and microwave oven. It opens to a pretty courtyard with lots of plants and flowers. There is a large dining room table. The living room is comfortable. The TV works well and the wifi throughout the house is fast. The second floor has two bedrooms and a full bath. One of the bedrooms opens to a pretty balcony. The third floor has a large bedroom and full bathroom. It is bright, roomy and comfortable. The bathrooms are very modern. There is plenty of hot water and heat.
