Our overall experience met our expectations as we were looking for a different, authentic, local experience. We wanted to try something different from an all-inclusive for a longer term stay, and Casa de Kasbah delivered. All arrangements for transfer to and from the airport were excellent. Communication with the hosts and housekeeper were timely and very positive. We had a couple of minor technical issues that were resolved quickly and smoothly with a smile and excellent follow up from the hosts.The house is very comfortable and well equipped, and the pool was excellent. The area is a bit rustic, but we always felt safe, comfortable, and well cared for. The local people are very nice as are all of the other tourists and long term "regulars". There is a definite sense of community, which is what we were hoping to experience.There are many good local restaurants and smaller markets and stores for most things that you would need to self-cater if you wished.All-in-all, while it wasn't "perfect" (nothing is), our stay in La Cruz was exactly what we were hoping for, and we will likely return.

This is our second stay at this property, both being three week stays. This speaks volumes as in 17 years of visiting the area we have never stayed at the same place twice! Our motivation to do so was two fold as the place is perfect and our favorite fishing captain lives two blocks away! If you want to catch fish get a hold of Dhamar Sportfishing. In 40 trips we have never been skunked! I tried to add pics of the place and fishing but kept getting an error...It is a quiet street, the house is great with ample furnishings and amenities, amazing privacy and communication with both owner and management were unparalleled. Do not hesitate!

Privacy, Pool and Relaxation

We loved La Cruz, we were so close to everything we needed. The house was amazing. We really wanted privacy and some quiet family time. Having our own large pool to just the three of us was amazing. We loved iguana watching, swimming at night with the pool lights and the lovely waterfall into the pool. The master bathroom was huge and I loved the tile in the second bathroom. The sofa was a comfortable place to nap. Rick and his management company were very responsive and we felt very well taken care of. We will go again.

Private yet close to everything

It was a good feeling to come back to the property after a full day of touring around discovering the area. coming home to the welcoming garden and pool and the local iguanas was a delight. Regis is very accommodating and easily reachable. thank you for hosting us!

We had an incredible time and loved the home. My children loved the pool and found a street soccer game with some kids in the neighborhood. Such a great home.

A very relaxing stay

The backyard is a slice of heaven. I was in the lovely pool every single day. My husband has mobility issues so it was extremely helpful that we were close to restaurants, a small store, the Wednesday market and the fabulous Sunday market. Property Management is extremely responsive and helpful. Thank you!

Excellent location, Relaxing Pool

This house is within walking distance to many excellent well priced restaurants. The pool is heated to a very relaxing temperature. The owners shared their contact info to be available on What’s App for assistance if we needed. We had no problems while we were there.

Excellent rental, highly recommended

Friendly, helpful and available hosts for anything we needed, great outdoor dining, beautiful garden with coconut and tropical trees. Weather was hot but we had the pool and waterfall to cool off, easy walk to the center of the village. Everything was as described. Property was impeccably clean. We enjoyed many restaurants at the marina and live music.

A wonderful stay!

We had a great time. It's a lovely place with just about everything you could need in the small fishing village of La Cruz. Couldn't keep the kids out of the pool, not that we wanted to. We also loved seeing the Iguanas wandering the yard and hanging out in the trees on the property. We had a few minor hiccups, but Rick and Julieta attended to them very quickly and were quite helpful. We'd certainly stay here again if we're returning to the area.

Great experience!

My family and I booked the home for 10 days and sincerely enjoyed our stay! The property was awesome and pool was fabulous! There was so much to do and Delicious food to each within a 5 - 10 minute walk! The neighbors and the community were very welcoming and friendly. Rick , the property manager went above and beyond to ensure that our needs were met. We will definitely be back!

Great home base for family vacation!

Holiday getaway for adult children and parents to gather. Comfortable with lots of amenities. Cooking, food storage and water dispenser were great! Pool was a great temperature and the iguanas in the backyard kept us entertained! Close to the beach, great restaurants, corner stores and bus stops to get to Puerto Vallarta and Bucerias. Lots of walking exploration to do near by. (Along the coast to Bucerias and the other way to some secret beaches -watch out for tides though).

Casa la Kasbah Paradise!

We spent a month here and it was amazing!! So peaceful & relaxing. The house was clean, spacious, welcoming with a beautiful yard and a pool that was heavenly! The yard, pool and house are very well taken care of by friendly professionals. The area of La Cruz is a warm friendly piece of older Mexico with everything close at hand. The small restaurants, grocery stores, local establishments are fantastic for buying all your daily needs and meals out. The owner Rick, and property manager Julieta, are quick to respond and help in any way they can. We loved it so much that we booked the house for next year! Looking forward to returning to La Cruz!! BEWERE OF THIS DUMP !!!!

We totally agree with review published on Oct3, 2021 " BEWERE !!! AVOID THIS PLACE ! DIRTY & FALLING APART " The house was dirty and falling apart ! Almost everything felt like weren't clean for a long time. Even we had to wash all the towels because they were dirty and smelled. Big disappointment ! Not recommended at all ! BEWARE OF THIS DUMP !!!

Sadly a guest that no one would like to welcome at home. Guest refused to let owners, property manager and housekeeper in during her whole stay. Guest complained the entire first week about the new fridge leaking water on the floor, technician had to ask her not to overstuff it, not leave the door open and not put warm food in it. In tropical climates, inside/outside temperature changes are greater, hence creating more condensation and dripping. During her first days of stay, guest was sending pictures of any possible dust spot she could find, asking for refunds and threatening to leave a bad review. Guest refused to pay for the cleaning service and refused our offer to send her the housekeeper for free to keep the house clean during her 3-week stay. We found the house in terrible condition at checkout, dirty, particularly the kitchen and garden, 4 large plastic trash bags in the fountain yard, two of them filled with empty liquor bottles; guest demanded technicians and repairs that were not needed and eventually allowed the housekeeper to install a new microwave we bought for her the same day she reported the former one was broken, after introducing metal cutlery according to the technician. The gas technician had to teach guest how to turn on the brand-new gas stove after she complained it was broken. Oh well... We have received 92% of 5*star reviews from our 450+ previous guests so far on the 3 main platforms and are consistently Premier Host on Vrbo and SuperHost on another renown platform. This is the second akin guest who tried to defraud us; guest was clearly not happy that she couldn’t obtain the refunds and free nights she demanded. We decided not to report her and not terminate her stay; we will not change the way we have been welcoming guests with love for more than 15 years.

Fabulous Property

We spent a wonderful 11 days at Casa La Kasbah. The house is in a perfect location in La Cruz - a short 2 block walk to the middle of town, and about the same to the amazing fish market. Great little restaurants only a short walk away. We were often entertained right in the back yard with a variety of music from places in the neighbourhood - none of which went past about 9:00. The house is also remarkably sound proof even though it is right on the street!! The other highlight was the pool. SO lovely!!! The fact it was heated made it easy to get into at any point during the day or evening. Communication with Rick was great - and the property manager Julieta was wonderful. Quick to respond and very helpful. Was great having the 3 bedrooms. The TV area was nice although we never actually sat there!! It was so lovely in the garden that we spent our evenings out there. The Iguanas were so entertaining! We learned a lot about them - who knew Iguanas jumped out of palm trees!!! Well - they do! They were very respectful - they love the waterfall! We would come back in a heartbeat. Loved the house and the town!!!

Home away from Home

My guests and I really enjoyed our stay at Casa Kasbah in La Cruz! The house was as described in the listing and Rick was very responsive to emails and answered all my questions prior to my arrival. He made arrangements for airport transfers, gave me recommendations for local restaurants and services (in house spa, in house chef Elizabeth, who was lovely and a great cook!), and was responsive to any problems or issues that came up. My guests and I spent a lot of time outside in the yard, hanging out by the pool. The pool man and gardener kept the pool and gardens looking great and were very discreet when they would come to do their work, but were very friendly when we wanted to chat with them. The town of La Cruz is great, but it is rustic and small. I loved it, but guests should be aware of what the town offers, and doesn't offer, before deciding to stay there for any length of time. I was there for a month and did not have a car which worked out fine for me. My guests and I walked the town a lot, mostly going to the beach, and out for dinners and groceries. If I was staying longer, I would likely want access to a vehicle to make trips to other parts of the area. There is no bank in La Cruz but there are 2 ATMs (although I only found 1). English is spoken by some locals, but I spoke Spanish most of the time when I went out shopping or out to eat. It is important to note that I felt safe in La Cruz, even when I would go out alone. Would love to go back!!

If you’re looking for a cultural experience and an amazing backyard with a private pool, this is it!

We loved the beautiful yard with pool. My husband loves tinkering with things so he enjoyed watering the yard. The fence around the yard is 8 feet tall so there is tons of privacy in a quiet neighborhood. You will hear roosters crowing in the mornings while drinking your coffee!!! We saw iguanas crossing the streets a few blocks away when we walked to dinner. We had a great time looking at the yachts when we walked to the marina. Things to keep in mind...the vines growing on the house are gorgeous; however, they do provide a home to lizards and spiders. The glass doors provide indoor/outdoor living, but they don’t seal on the bottom like homes in America so the lizards and spiders get into the house. We ended up having fun with it and made bets on who would see them first. We named them Marco & Polo! The spiders are the size of an adults palm of your hand, but we killed those. The owners were available when we needed to contact them. Some little things that would make a big difference to Americans coming on vacation would be large kitchen trash bags upon arrival, grilling tools, and a vacuum cleaner. One other thing you might consider is putting some kind of tile or backsplash in the kitchen. When people have cooked, food splattered on the walls and it won’t wash off. Overall, we have stayed in resorts in Puerto Vallarta and would prefer this over the resorts. The backyard is what makes this place along with the culture within this neighborhood!!!!

Needs a lot of work

We booked Casa Kasbah for five months, based on the online pics, we won't be doing that again. The house is on a dirt road, that has been taken over by the summer rains, and it is now, basically a dirty, dusty river bed. (Not the owner's fault, of course) The good: Outstanding pool, large and deep, albeit very cold water. The gardens and back yard are very beautiful. Beautiful tile floors throughout Good wifi signal, some English stations on TV Good ceiling fans in all rooms The not so good: The City turns off the water randomly from 10 to around 3...so no water during those hours...again, not the owner's fault, but very inconvenient. The house is NOT a Villa, rather a house with a strange floor-plan and a tiny kitchen, The bad: The furniture looks like it came from a backyard sale, vinyl couch/chair, and....beanbag chairs...how 70s! Kitchen is equipped with chipped plastic glasses, chipped mismatched plates, again...thrift shop stuff. The toilet or tub leaks in the master bathroom, forming a puddle you get to walk through every night. Tub drains very slowly...hand held shower, very clumsy and cheap Guest bathroom, rusted faucet, needs a new shower head brown water comes out of the shower, initially....then clears up. The vintage flatscreen TV is, for some reason, in the guest bedroom. The beds are hard even by Mexico standards. The only A/C unit is in the Master Bedroom, but the owner feels it necessary to charge 8 dollars USD a day, if you want it on. Doesn't matter how little it is on...8 bucks a day. If not, your other option is to open the window, which is on the road. This house in in a Mexican neighborhood, which comes with lots of noise, chickens, dogs, horses...very authentic! We left after two months, won't be returning.

Yes all plumbing issues have been fixed and we deeply apologize for all the inconveniences. We are always very responsive and get everything taken care of immediately. There have been some major repairs in the adjacent street's water pipes and the city closed one of the two water networks, which generated excessive water pressure, plumbing issues and water shortage all over the neighborhood. These repairs were completed by the city around March 20 and all is back to normal now. We have also hired a new housekeeper as the former couldn’t properly address some issues and provide quality service to our guests. Our recent guests have been very happy with the new team. The pool water is not cold; it went down to 24 degrees Celsius (76 Fahrenheit) during the coldest month of the year (December). In January water temperature goes up again to 77/78 Fahrenheit and up to 85 in May. We have some nice Mexican vintage dishes that are chipped but they are decoration items and displayed on shelves; they are not for guests to use. It is actually quite easy to distinguish that they are not for meals. The dishware is impeccable and new. All the other comments are difficult to respond because they are inaccurate. Travelers who don’t like chickens, dogs and horses should not vacation south of the border. Our villa is in a Mexican neighborhood simply because it is in … Mexico. Unpaved and cobble stone roads are part of the local lifestyle. Travelers in Mexico find different experiences and much lower prices too. What some call noise is considered here as music and street life: shrimp, ceviche, fruits or water vendors, but also music bands and horses, share the road in full harmony. We have welcome and made friends with many wonderful people for more than 10 years thanks to VRBO.com and we take a lot of pride in providing extraordinary customer service and exceed our guests’ expectations. We enjoy welcoming travelers from all over the world and share our love for the local culture and heritage. This environment is friendly, natural, unique, warm and welcoming. We again sincerely regret the inconveniences caused to our guests in this occasion, and will continue listening and improving thanks to your feedback and reviews. Thank you. Paradise in Nayarit

House is beautiful. The back yard with the pool is like a tropical paradise. We enjoyed relaxing around the pool. Neighborhood is quiet. Plenty of places to eat nearby. House was exceptionally clean with all the amenities one would need. We will definitely be back. It was the perfect place to relax for a week. Host was great.

So relaxing

Everything on here is accurate. We love this area. From the restaurants in walking distance to meeting Chuck down the street and him being so accommodating with fishing and snorkeling. Just a nice time. The pool was great too!!! Thank you!!

Perfect place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely home in La Cruz. The house was perfect for us and our two teens. The pool was lovely and well maintained. The house is just a few blocks away from the central plaza in La CruZ and felt very safe. La Cruz is just charming-not too touristy & the residents were very welcoming. We were very sad to leave!

La Cruz has been our second home for many years and we love spending weekends here when we do not have guests. We spend hours in the pool or the stone waterfall at night looking at the stars, or just take a steamy hot jacuzzi after a whole day at the beach.

We love animals and adore all of our cats. This is a pet friendly home if you want to bring your little companions.

Casa La Kasbah is situated just one block to the marina and its boardwalk, 3 minutes walk to the beach and yacht club, a 15 minute drive to Sayulita and Punta Mita, 25 minutes to the Vallarta airport and a 30-minute drive to downtown Puerto Vallarta.
