Overview

About the property

3 BR, 2 Full BA, Slps 6, Peace/Quiet, Canoe, Paddle Boards, safe swimming & more

On beautiful Smith Mountain Lake, Witcher Way Lakehouse is situated on the clean, quiet, no wake, Cedar Key Cove of Witcher Creek just a short float away from the excitement and activity of the main lake. Relax and enjoy the views and tranquility of this quiet Wildlife Preserve and protected State Forest area from the porch, the deck, or many of the windows of the new, open three-bedroom lake house. This light, airy and comfortable house sleeps up to six with two full baths, a lovely kitchen and great-room area over a basement level that great for play: sports a dart board, ping pong and air hockey tables, and leads out to a full patio that stretches the length of the house and overlooks the paved walkway to the boathouse and water.

There is a paved pathway leading to the secluded deep water dock. The clean, deep water is great for boating, fishing, swimming, jumping off the dock, or just floating, relaxing and sun bathing. The dock offers sun and shade options for lounging, bird watching, or snoozing on the lounge chairs as you watch the water float by with no concern for boat wakes to toss you about.

Anglers should note that the cove is the Striper spawning area. Great Spring fishing here!

Why Brian Brenner chose Smith Mountain Lake

As we took trips and visited this area, we found it so quiet and relaxing! A great place to get away from the chaos that is Northern Virginia. You can literally feel your blood pressure drop and your to-do list dissolve as you ride the back, country roads to the lake. We built this home for ourselves, never really planned on renting it. Sometimes the best intentions don't materialize and we can't visit as often as we'd like - that thing called work gets in the way! It's built, furnished, and decorated for comfort and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Read the comments and you will see this home is not set up with your typical 'rental home' furnishings.

What makes this house unique

The quite 'no wake' cove makes it great for swimming and our deep water cove is nice no matter the level of the lake. When you are ready for water sports the main channel of the lake is a 5 minute no wake boat ride away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear 2011 Witcher Way Guests,

We are so grateful for all of your comments in our house guestbook. Since Home Away no longer allows guests to post online comments without registering their emails, we hope you won’t mind that we have transcribed them for online viewers to read. [and hope you’ll forgive any typos and errors to names!] We know that the path from the house to the water is the challenge for some guests and appreciate everyone’s good-natured comments! We too feel it is great exercise and worth the benefits of the deep, clear water a steep lot provides. New for owners and visitors alike this year is the fresh asphalt, which as of August, makes the walk much easier! Again, we thank our visitors for demonstrating their appreciation of the personal comforts we provide at Witcher Way by always treating it as gently as they would their own.

Beautiful house full of amenities on a quiet cove

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have asked for a nicer vacation spot. The house is beautiful and stocked with anything vacationers might want or need. The boat house and dock sit at the bottom of a steep hill. It is equipped with paddle boards, a canoe, several lounge chairs and a table and chairs for enjoying a meal on the lake. The refrigerator makes it very convenient to store cold foods and beverages out of the sun. The property is on a "no wake" cove which made it very quiet and conducive to paddle boarding, canoeing and swimming without the worry of motors upsetting our equipment. Also in the area are several state and national parks for sight seeing off the property. I highly recommend Witcher Lake House as a vacation destination.

The perfect vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Everything you've read in other reviews is right on point. The Brennen's truly have thought of everything you would want in a vacation home. The climb up the hill from the dock is rough but, we looked at it as much needed extra exercise. We will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay! We try to think of all you need to feel at home...without the stress! Except, of course, that walk to the water. We know it's a work out, but the pay off of the hill means deep, clear water. And with the cove's no-wake rule, you can feel safe when you're swimming, canoeing and paddle boarding. Thank you!

Breathtaking view

  • 5 of 5

Our first visit to smith mountain lake and we could not have stayed in a more beautiful home. The Brenners have obviously put a lot of thought, time, and attention to detail into this property and it shows. The house was immaculate and beautifully decorated. All the reviews I read prior to staying were extremely accurate. This is the perfect lake house get away. We took advantage of everything the property had to offer canoeing in the lake, paddle boarding, dinners on the deck overlooking the beautiful views, ping pong and scattegories in the evenings. FYI the bottom floor has a game room with ping pong table, air hockey ect....much open space and LOTS of room to hang out. We actually wished we had brought our corn hole set, you could literally play indoors. I will mention what some of the other reviews stated about the walk from the house to the lake..its a workout! It would not deter us from staying again and I think its worth it to have the beautiful views the home has. We hope to come back again next year!

Quiet cove, gorgeous house!

  • 5 of 5

Such a gorgeous house! A lot of attention went into all the little details. Our boys, 8&10, loved playing on the wii and especially loved the paddle boards. The dock is perfect with sun beds and a fridge. We would just spend the whole day down there. We had such a lovely time!!

Beautiful home worth the trip!

  • 5 of 5

The house and furnishings are beautiful, well maintained and very clean. The lake views, the privacy, the solitude were wonderful. The lake is gorgeous and great to swim in - the water is very clear. The owners go out of their way to provide little extras in the house - thank you for the welcoming bottle of wine!
