Two Story 3/Bd 2Bath, w Pool and steps to the best snorkeling on the island
The property is unique to Roatan. Just off the main road to a private beach area. This area is part of the Roatan Marine Park preserve. The reef system parallels the white sand beach of Sandy Bay. A safe and calm area to swim and explore the underwater ecological paradise teaming with tropical fish and corals. This is a quiet tranquil area without high end hotels and condos but close to the tourist meccas. The island style cabanas are nestled in a beautifully landscaped jungle canopy setting to keep the homes cool and breezy. The property has on site security. The beach front includes a private 300 ft. long pier accessible only by the small Sundancer community. The pier has an upper deck for sunning, and shaded palapa over the water. Just off Sundancer's Pier to the right is a natural deep water channel that allows larger sea life to come and go on the reef. Often seen are large squads of squid, eagle rays, turtles, huge grouper and large parrot fish. This natural opening in the reef also makes it easy for boats to pick you up for fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling and touring.
Sundancer Cabanas are conveniently located in upper Sandy Bay, with grocery stores just 5minutes away. West End is about a 6 minute taxi ride headed West. The airport is a 10 – 15 minute ride away. The long Sandy Bay Beach stretch offers a variety of Roatan Island activities. The Salty Mango restaurant is right next door, to the east, and Lawson’s Rock is next door to the west, with a morning café, and restaurant. Anthony’s Key Resort is 1 mile to the west, with dolphin encounters, restaurant, plus a medical facility, offering COVID testing. You can rent a car or scooter to explore the island as well. This home overlooks the pool, has full size washer dryer, fast internet, 3 bedrooms plus a pull out futon couch for extra guests and 4 split AC units. It has a fully stocked kitchen, and everything to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. It is only steps to the water, and the two story dock is great for watching sunsets. This area has some of the best snorkeling on the island. you will see dive boats that take tourists out to the reef, but you can swim to the reef. This unit and my other one 3B Reef House have it all. We look forward to hosting you!

This was our first time to Roatan and we had a beautiful time. Our host Conrad was responsive and welcoming. The property manager, Vanessa, incredibly helpful. The house is cute and cozy and was perfect for my family of 6. We loved this location as it was kind of central and allowed us to explore the island without too far a distance. We rented a car to get around and grab groceries. All in all, a wonderful stay!

Plusses: Decent pool. Snorkeling off shore was excellent (but note: involves a five minute swim out to the reef). Property manager was able to locate beach chairs for us. Comfortable beds and plenty of ceiling fans. Negatives: The community cistern broke and water was cut off on three occasions. No communication from owner or property manager about this. Broken garbage can in kitchen. Car-dependent location. Slow responses from owner.
Comfortable, roomy, close to the beach and just steps from the pool! Our host was very responsive and helped us with a couple questions. We enjoyed our stay very much. It was nice to have 3 bedrooms and the upper screened in porch so we could spread out.
This was our second time staying at Sundancer. The house was well maintained and located right next to the pool. The property manager, groundskeepers and security staff were all friendly and welcoming.
Nice, spacious accommodations with everything you need and a pool out the front door. Would definitely stay here again. Property manager and owner were very prompt and accommodating although not much is needed.
Great location, very peaceful and surrounded by trees and well kept garden. Rooms are confortable, and we were provided with plenty of drinking water. Washing and dryer were very useful. Full kitchen, it might need some upgrading of some utensils..Very quick of the managerfor
We just booked our 4th stay at this same location with the same property owner. He goes the extra mile to make sure your stay is great. Sundancer in Sandy Bay is perfect for a relaxing vacation. The area is quiet with easy access to the water for snorkeling, swimming, fishing, kayaking and just appreciating the beauty. The private dock for Sundancer residents & renters is the biggest draw for us along with the close proximity, only a cab ride away, to West End or Coxen Hole for groceries. Looking forward to next year!
A great relaxing vacation. We enjoyed our time here again. The cabana meets our needs and had everything we needed. Manager is very timely with communication and any concerns we may have had. The property is well maintained and in a quiet area of the island. It is just a cab ride away for shopping and restaurants in West End. We enjoyed the pool that is very close to cabana and it's just a short walk to the beach and dock for amazing snorkeling!
The house and location were outstanding. My wife, family and I had a “ trip of a lifetime”. The house was extremely well equipped for just about every need. The air conditioning located in each bedroom and the living room/ kitchen area was much appreciated! The dock located in front of the house made snorkeling, fishing and swimming a wonderful experience. Also having a local restaurant, dive shop and cafe within walking distance came in very handy. My wife and grandson loved the pool!

The house was nice. The property was beautiful and very well maintained. The walk to the beach was like taking a Strole thru paradise every time. The house could use a few updates such as a new mattrass and cushions on the outside chairs. Overall we had a great time and as concerns came up, they were addressed quickly. It is a little remote from stores, so come prepared. I would recommend this house to anyone.
This was my forth visit to Roatan & 2nd time staying at the Sundancer Villas. This unit (11B) was very nice for the price…with a pool view and just a 1 minute walk to the beach. Everything was functional except some cabinet doors didn’t close fully. The 4 AC units worked great as did the appliances (except the toaster oven, so we used their toaster instead). One could sleep 7 in this place with the pullout couch, but it would be tight. Three couples or a family of 5 would be Ok, but a family of 4 is the sweet spot. The attached laundry room was convenient and the location is great (close enough to West End for drinks & dinner, but not close enough where it’s congested and loud). Good restaurants nearby the Sundancer Villas and scuba Shops (I recommend Sandy Bay Divers in the Blue Bahia).
What a wonderful home to base out of for our family's Roatan vacation! There was plenty of room for the 4 of us to spread out and have our own space - but also a nice setup to share meals and enjoy time together. Just steps to the community pool, and less than a 5 minute walk to the AMAZING pier with world-class snorkeling just a few hundred yards out. The grounds are meticulously kept and beautiful. With the few small things that came up (very minor!) the onsite property manager was SUPER responsive and our questions were always answered immediately and exactly to our liking. You'll want to have your own rental car or be ready to have a trusted cab you can keep "on call" if you are hoping to see much of the island. We LOVED this space and will definitely hope to stay here again when we return to the island!
This treehouse overlooking the pool is exactly what our family needed for a vacation. We were originally staying at a friend’s property that had a a water main break, so we needed to move to something quickly while we were on vacation. Carson responded quickly with directions and accommodations. Vanessa the property manager stopped by to make sure everything was working, and responded immediately to some minor requests (our upstairs AC was showing an error and we had no trash bags, she had both fixed right away!) The property is so close to the pool which the family loved, and the neighborhood was quiet and close to some great scuba/snorkeling. The kitchen is well stocked and the rooms were large with crispy clean linens. What could have been a difficult vacation turned into a great surprise!
Overall, we had a great stay. The property manager was very responsive to our needs and met us for check-in. 5 gallon bottled water was provided for the week. A/C units were great. The cooking pots/pans probably need an upgrade, but we worked it out. A cutting board was provided during our stay as we couldn’t find one. We were disappointed that the property owner had not communicated that the pool would be closed, but it had opened back up by the end of the week. The area was safe and quiet in the community. We rented a car, which worked out perfectly. The house does transmit sound very well and all doors have slats on upper half of doors. We would stay here again 😊
Second time staying in Sundancer, Roatan. Perfect location, quiet “community feel”, great community dock for snorkeling, swimming, and sunsets. $2 cab gets you to West end or any of the restaurants on the way. Nice bonus that restaurant Coconuts opened and was just a couple minute walk.
1st time renting from Conrad and El Papagayo. Great communication with host & his local manager Luke was always available quickly. Luke kept us supplied with bottled water, another bonus, not all hosts do.
House was well equipped, very comfortable for our group of 3 couples. It has a huge wrap around porch where we spent most of our time watching the hummingbirds feed 2 feet away. Nice pool right in front of unit, nothing fancy but nice size, and a shower to wash sand off before going in kept house and porch clean.
The only “negative” I had, was host did not provide a key or want the 2d set of French double doors opened. Not sure why, it would provide a lot of light and breeze through the kitchen.
Would definitely stay here again!
We had a fabulous stay. The location right in front of the pool and steps from the beach was ideal. We truly enjoyed the beautiful birds as well and had a hummingbird build a nest right next to our deck. We also loved the other wildlife including the occasional cat and Agouti native to Roatan. Such a memorable trip!
My family of four really enjoyed our stay here. The only thing we did not enjoy was the proximity of our unit to the road, which has loud traffic. It is quiet through the night hours though, and that was nice. Otherwise, I do recommend Sundancer in Sandy Bay for a more authentic island experience! Host was great, in-unit laundry very helpful, and proximity to everything easy.
Isolated Robinson Crusoe tree house on a dangerous raod
On a beautiful island fillled with lovely kind islanders sits Sun Dancer, an enclave of tree-house like dark multi-story cabins. With no services, no housekeeping, and furniture that looks like frat-house rattan, all would be lost but for friendly locals, European visitors, a nice pool and lovely dock.
Food and tourist activities are accessible only by taxi hailed on a busy road at great personal risk.
And possible financial ruin.
The action in Roatan is iin West Bay and West end with restaurants, bars, and music. Sun Dancer is $30 cab ride to West End and a 45 minute ride to West bay..
The Roatan islanders are lively, fun, and funny. Many speak English. There is great native food to be had. The Dive shop next doo to Sun Dancer at Salty Mango provides exceptional safe dive tours and snorkeling.
Roatan us worth a visit but Sun Dancer is not the place to stay.

Thank you Nancy for your review.
Really sorry you didn't like SunDancer, even though I don't understand what services in particular you are referring to that are missing. Housekeeping wasn't listed , but is available at an extra cost if needed , all you had to do is ask.
The house just went through an extensive remodel in the past year with many new upgrades and new furniture, and everything is exactly as it is in the pictures. Just so you know, While it might not be your taste, Rattan is a common type of furniture in Central America and it is everywhere even in the high end resorts. .Just about all of our guests see the value of SunDancer verses the much more expensive West End or West Bay, it is unfortunate that you didn't . By the way, if you paid $30 for a cab ride you honestly got taken and it only takes 45 min to West bay if you take a bicycle , not by car so that is a bit of an exaggeration , but other than not liking Rattan furniture, I glad you had no issues with the house.
Conrad the owner of the property I stayed at in Sandy Bay Roatan was a pleasure to talk to. He told me all about my stay. Luke the property Manager was already waiting for me to let me in and give the key's to me was very knowledgeable. Showed me around the house. I would stay there again!

Why they chose this property
A tropical private beach & reef front vacation rental community in Sandy Bay on Roatan Island in the Bay Islands of Honduras. This unique privately owned cabana community is located between the main road and the beach front. The island style cabanas are nestled in a beautifully landscaped jungle canopy setting to keep the homes cool and breezy. The property has on site security. The beach front includes a private 300 ft. long pier is shared by the small community. The pier has an upper deck for sunning, a shaded palapa over the water and a lower water level snorkel platform with angled stairs for easy access in and out of the water
What makes this property unique
Sandy Bay is located on the island's north shore toward the western end . Miles of beautiful beaches trim the shore with just a short swim to the living coral reef. Unlike the beach at West Bay, Sandy Bay offers peaceful relaxation in an uncrowded atmosphere and a much more enjoyable reef snorkeling experience. Dive operators are in the area for your SCUBA diving or lessons; most will do fishing charters, too. Centrally located, It is easy to catch taxis to anywhere on the island.
