Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you, Chris and Ginny, for the use of your condo at El Zalate. The condo was very nice, we felt at home as soon as we arrived and the view from your deck is amazing. We spent a lot of time on the patio, at the pool and on the beach and as it was a rainy week it was humid.

Your information letter was very helpful and we tried several of the restaurants that you recommended, watching a soccer game at Habaneros, had pizza at the Baja brew pub and ate at Taco Rossy a few times. The property complex was very clean and the staff very friendly.

We loved your choice of books and read one and half books while we were there, so will have to come back again so that we can finish the half read book.

Thank you.

Wonderful Experience in San Jose del Cabo!

  • 5 of 5

Just got home from a week long vacation staying in El Zalate in San Jose del Cabo-- What an awesome experience! It started as a girls trip, with my two daughters and two daughter in laws, but then my husband decided he wanted to join us to fish! (the girls are all in their 20's) The airport was filled with Spring breakers, and we were starting to get a little nervous-- but the fears were set a side when we walked into the neat and tidy condo, with it's beautiful view of the ocean! The pools are beautiful, and one of the things that impressed us so much was the cleanliness of everything--The pools and grounds were meticulously cared for, as well as the condo itself. The view was incredible-- we could watch whales from the veranda, and hear the ocean at night. We never felt any of the spring break crowd, and it was so nice! We felt like we belonged to an elite group, that knew a good secret. The location was great, so close to everything that we needed. We explored the east cape, drove to La Paz and swam with the whale sharks, went deep sea fishing, and found our favorite-- the farm to table restaurant and farm called "Flora Farms". Everything they serve is either grown or raised there. The gardens were beautiful, the architecture amazing, and the food and service were incredible! We will definitely visit El Zalate again. Chris was so great to work with, and cared about every detail. I want to share the news, and then part of me wants to keep it a secret!

Costa Azul Perfection

This El Zalate property is an excellent unit in a great complex ideally located near world-class fishing at Puerto Los Cabos, snorkeling at nearby protected bays, the historical downtown San Jose Del Cabo area and is close enough to Cabo, the East Cape and Todos Santos for day trips.

The unit itself is fully stocked with just about anything you need including the patio beer fridge full of cold cerveza upon arrival. Our contact with the owner was positive from start to finish and Chris always left me with the feeling that he really cared that we had the best possible time in his home. And we certainly did.

The outdoor patio of this 2-bedroom unit is the highlight as it is both incredibly spacious, has the beer fridge and bbq built-in and a view that has to be seen to be truly appreciated. We spent hours on the deck, telescope in hand, viewing the surfing down the beach at Zippers, checking out the passing boats, the jumping fish and endless lines of surf rolling in.

The pool area offers needed shade and loungers while the beach is steps away making for a great daily ritual of surf, sand, pool and shade.

As a family of five, with three teenagers, we will carry with us only great memories of our vacation stay at El Zalate. We enjoyed home cooked meals of the fish we caught devouring everything from sushi and sashimi to grilled dorado, amberjack and tuna and endless fish tacos. We fished, hit the surf, the pool, the town and nearby restaurants and it was all amazing fun.

I've been visiting the Cabo area for 30 years and have stayed in luxury resorts and camped in the sand. This was our first time renting from an individual owner and I will say with certainty that it will not be the last. I can't think of a better overall experience and value. We look forward to visiting El Zalate again and thank Chris and Ginny Lewis for the use of their wonderful unit.

Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 stayed in this absolutely gorgeous condo for 2 full weeks. Chris was absolutely fantastic to work with. Every detail as described by Chris was exact. We were met at the airport and driven to the condo. When we opened the door to our 'home' for the next 2 weeks I was shocked at how absolutely gorgeous it was. I have never used VRBO before but have done time shares, all inclusive and 'fly by the seat of your pants vacations' Travelling with 2 kids ages 9 and 15 can be difficult as they are worlds apart. The kids were never bored. They were either in one of the 3 pools or on the beach. With having a vehicle to use we enjoyed our trips into San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. San Jose is lovely to walk around. Take a late afternoon and stroll the galleries and then treat yourself to the best pizza ever at the Brewhouse Pub. Pizza with fresh basil and tomatoes...oh my..I am not a beer drinker but the raspberry ale was divine. We spent a lot of our time walking the beaches. The beach is mere steps away and there were days when we saw no one on the beach. When you go down to the beach, turn to the right and walk as far as you can. You will come to rock cliffs that are home to the most colourful varieties of little crabs. I can go on and say what everyone else has about the condo, you will not be disappointed. Chris told me that there was only one rule, and that was to enjoy yourself. Well we certainly did at that! However I have to say that the most amazing part of our adventure was watching the sea turtles come up out of the ocean to lay their eggs. Something we will never forget. I am not kidding when I say that one turtle came out of the sea and walked right up and over the huge sandcastle my 9 year old daughter was working on. Easily 75-100 lbs of turtle. In all we saw 14. Mexicans are very protective of their Tortuga's (turtles). We watched as some tourists got too close to the turtle and the security guards from other properties would ask people to stand back as to not stress the turtle. We were asked that if at night we saw them lay eggs, to please mark the spot. The next morning they come by on a quad and collect the eggs. They then take the eggs to an incubator where they are catalogued. When the turtles hatch they drive them back to the area they were collected from and released. It was a time that my family will never forget and if you stay here, you too will have an amazing vacation.

We had a wonderful time at Chris & Ginny's place. There is nothing like getting up in the morning and seeing that wonderful view!! We spent most of our evenings on the patio. We used the BBQ every night. We did not want to go home!! We will be back!. (I also loved all the candles on the patio )

5 days of BLISS and Fun in the Sun at El Zalate

  • 5 of 5

Well, my family and I really enjoyed our rental at El Zalate and since we are back home, I am reminded by all the photos taken of our vacation and wish I was back in our condo.

Having the privacy of our TWO room condo and the comforts of home while away from home made me rethink future trips with my family. See we used to stay all bottled up in a studio room with the big brands, IE Hilton, Marriott, etc... Now that we have seen the other side, Well, no brainer we are hooked on the comfort of living with space rather than living in SPACE.

For a fraction of the increase more is better and we LOVED what Chris had to offer with his beautiful condo. I am envious of you when you retire...

Thanks for making our trip what it really was. BLISS!

El Zalate, we will see you soon!
