About this property
Mid-Century Artist Cottage - Fall in Woodstock
Experience the Catskills from our stylish mid-century home in a quiet hamlet of Woodstock. Set on a forested acre with apple and pear trees, a stream, fire pit, and outdoor ping-pong table, the house offers privacy and nature while keeping you close to everything that makes Woodstock special.
Downtown Woodstock is just a short drive away, with restaurants, shops, galleries, live music, and the town’s legendary arts heritage. You can also catch a show at nearby Bearsville Theater or visit during the Woodstock Film Festival.
Fall is especially beautiful here. Spend the day hiking through autumn color, apple picking, stopping at local farm stands, or exploring Woodstock and the surrounding Catskills. In winter, Belleayre and Hunter Mountain offer nearby skiing and snow-day adventures.
Back at the house, there’s plenty of room for families, friends, and pets to spread out, with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, fast Wi-Fi, and quiet spaces to work or read. Cook something warm in the kitchen, relax by the fire pit, play ping-pong, spin records, or settle in for a cozy evening surrounded by the woods.
It’s an easy upstate escape in every season, with the best of Woodstock, the Catskills, and nearby ski country all within reach.
Inside, the roomy 1960s layout is furnished with a mix of vintage pieces, original art and crisp modern comforts.
Enter through the spacious first-level entertainment and TV den, with a large leather sectional, dedicated bathroom and laundry room. On the main level, an open floor plan and skylights create a bright, airy gathering space anchored by a fully stocked kitchen with everything you need for cooking and baking. The dining table comfortably seats 6–8 guests, making it an ideal house for long dinners with family and friends. Large glass doors and bay windows bring the wooded setting indoors throughout the seasons.
Upstairs, the en suite primary bedroom has a king bed overlooking the surrounding trees. The second bedroom is lined with windows and features a queen bed and vintage desk. The third bedroom has a queen bed and mountain views, while the fourth bedroom includes a single bed, large closet and dedicated workspace for remote work.
It’s a peaceful, one-of-a-kind Catskills base for couples, families and friends looking to enjoy Woodstock, hiking, skiing, fall foliage and quiet winter weekends upstate.

About the host
Hosted by Robert McCarthy
We’re a Brooklyn family who loves spending time in Woodstock whenever we can. We enjoy hiking, music, photography, cooking, skiing, and exploring the Catskills with our kids. We’ve tried to make the house feel like a true home rather than just a rental, and we love sharing the area with guests who appreciate its mix of nature, culture, and laid-back upstate life.
Why they chose this property
We loved that this part of Woodstock feels peaceful and tucked into the woods while still being close to town. There are great hikes, farm stands, restaurants, music, and plenty to explore nearby, and Bearsville Theater is even within walking distance. It gives us the privacy and quiet we wanted without feeling isolated.
What makes this property unique
The house has a distinctive mid-century feel, with lots of natural light and a relaxed connection to the outdoors. It sits on a wooded acre with a stream, apple and pear trees, a fire pit, and outdoor ping-pong, plus plenty of room inside for families and friends to spread out. We’ve filled it with things we genuinely enjoy - records, books, art, comfortable spaces, and a kitchen meant to be used.
