Welcome to the Marais Poitevin, a unique place where the land, shaped by man since the Middle Ages, now offers a natural landscape of great beauty. With its vast expanses of greenery and winding canals, this haven of peace is the ideal place to get away from it all, whether you're a family, a couple, on your own or with friends. Take a deep breath and you've arrived!

The Marais Poitevin Regional Nature Park, which has been awarded the Grand Site de France label, is located in 3 départements: Deux-Sèvres, Vendée and Charente-Maritime. There are 3 types of marsh: wet marsh, dry marsh and maritime marsh. However, the wet marsh is the best known of all. France's second-largest wetland after the Camargue, the Marais Poitevin is a haven of peace for nature lovers, with its verdant landscapes, peaceful canals and abundant flora and fauna. A world born of the marriage of land and water, it has been man-made since the Middle Ages. Nicknamed the ‘Green Venice’, the Marais Poitevin offers a unique experience of navigation through its canals, by boat, canoe or even houseboat. Visitors can also explore its many footpaths on foot or by bike.

It's an ideal place to recharge your batteries and enjoy unspoilt nature, just a few kilometres from the city of Niort, the urban capital par excellence, which is also part of the Marais Poitevin Regional Nature Park. It is also the only town in France to be part of a Regional Nature Park, extending the ‘green conquest’ of the area to a town where urban biodiversity is more than present.
