Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms + Loft Sleeping Area, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 6-8

For the Summer of 2017 we list specific dates in July through early August but we do have some flexibility.

The cottage doesn't look like much (to say the least) from the OUTSIDE. Please take a close look at the pictures on the INSIDE - you will see the beautiful cedar logs and white stone fireplace that make this Cabin so special.

My mother and father built this Log Cabin in 1950 on the 'Quiet Side' of Door County near the the borderline of the Whitefish Dunes State Park. As you look out the windows you will see beautiful Lake Michigan along with white birch trees, an assortment of evergreen trees, the sand dunes. The beautiful Sand Beach begins at your door. The sand on the beach is so clean that it 'squeaks' when you walk on it. You will absolutely love our beach! Relax and build sand castles with your kids. The water is very clean and the drop off is very gradual - ideal for kids of any age.

very nice old log cabin...!

  • 5 of 5

Me, my wife, son and puppy had a great time at the Suchy cabin. True old log cabin with a great kitchen very nice fireplace and a fantastic view. We all enjoyed the very private beach and I do not think we could be much closer to the water. We slept with the windows open so we could hear the waves even though it was cold out, The fire place kept us warm and cozy. My son was captivated with all the wall pictures and historical information from the Suchy family. The cabin can easily accommodate many people even thought it was just us four with plenty of seating and a user friendly kitchen for those indoor meals. We all played on the beach like we were kids again. We went into the towns during the day but we could not wait to get back to our Cabin On The Water...! That was where the real fun was.

Owner's Response: Thanks! I love your description of the Log Cabin my favorite place in the world! My parents built the log cabin in 1950. Coach Fred Suchy is still one of the most winning basketball coaches in Wisconsin. When my dad passed away at the age of 65 we basically froze the place in time in memory of both my parents.

Perfect family vacation

  • 5 of 5

The moment we stepped into the cabin, we knew we had a great find. The cabin has its own charm and is filled with incredible memorabilia and history we really appreciated. And then you have the amazing view and location on Lake Michigan. There are a number of sitting spots to take in the view, and we took advantage of all of them. The slight slope to the water was perfect for our youngsters and they spent a lot of time splashing around and playing in the sand. They loved that the sand squeaked. We also took advantage of Clark Lake nearby to take the kids out on the boat with our float. Launching the boat was a breeze. By far the most relaxing vacation for our family. We're hoping to return soon!

Stayed for 3 nights. Loved the LOCATION. The cabin is full of family history and very well kept. The beach and property are AWESOME!! We brought our 3 dogs with us and we couldn't get them out of the water. Very quiet, we stayed after Memorial Day. Close to food and some shopping. Easy drive to everything. BEST location. We will definitely be staying again..my wife is already looking at her schedule off...:) Thanks for the great stay!!!!

Awesome location!

  • 4 of 5

What a terrific cabin! It is old but is so charming and quaint. Has lots of memorabilia to look at. Plenty of beds, good kitchen and good living room space. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace each night and loved listening to the waves crashing on the beach. Thanks for sharing your cabin, we will definitely be back!

This log cabin is so well equipped! We so enjoyed our time there. It was like taking a trip back to Door County 50 years ago! Truly the best beach on the peninsula. Thank you.
