About Richard

Original residents of NYC, my wife and I were lured to Maine by its natural beauty, lakes and easy coastal access. Our vacation home on Sheepscot Lake captures all of these elements while providing convenient access to the sophisticated dining and shopping of Camden/Rockland and Belfast. Sheepscot's serenity and beauty will provide the ideal get away vacation and may result in you too seeking permanent residency in Maine as my wife Stephanie and I did. In 2002, we became permanent residents, making Portland our year round residence, providing convenient access to Sheepscot.

Richard purchased this house in 1999

A Spectacular and Rare Find!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely PERFECT vacation. We walked into this home and we were all instantly in love with it! The house is gorgeous, quite spacious- and yet very comfortable and cozy. Our party of 7 adults along with 3 pets had plenty of room!

The views are absolutely beautiful- inside and out! The woods, lake and the landscaping- perfect! The wildlife was abundant. The hummingbirds were super social and always at the feeders. It was so peaceful to sit and watch the large variety of birds coming and going at the various feeders. The owners have spent considerable time on the landscaping and the various plants all over the property make you feel like you are living in a very private fairy tale setting.

The kitchen was very well stocked – and we had dinner nightly outside on the deck. The locking gate was super helpful with the dogs!

Many nights were spent around the large stone fire pit followed by games at the wonderfully large dining room table. Some nights we played cards in the screened in porch while enjoying cool breezes and the sounds of the resident owl, loons and frogs. So peaceful!

Several of our family members took advantage of the hot tub. We had one day of rain and they went for a swim in the lake and came back to warm up in the hot tub.

The large private waterfront sandy beach is amazing. The entry to the water was gradual and smooth- this was a fun surprise for the member of our party with a knee injury! The water was very clear and we spent much time just swimming around the lake with the dogs. We also enjoyed kayaking, canoeing and lounging on the various swim floats. We rented a boat at the local marina and spent time tubing around on the lake as well.

We had so many day trips planned but we were so reluctant to leave our peaceful and relaxing setting that we decided to put some day trips off for next time. We took Richard’s advice and spent some time in Camden- and I am so glad we did. What a picturesque village- with so many unique fun stores to shop in.

Richard was incredibly kind and accommodating and eager to provide any info we may need. Our deposit check was returned within days.

This house is truly perfect. The care the owners put into this house really shows. Beautiful home, breathtaking views, gorgeous landscaping, crystal clean water. I love photography and this was a photographer’s paradise! It is hard to really put into words how truly perfect this house is! Thank you so much for sharing your home!

Fantastic!

I almost hesitated to write this review because I want to keep this place a secret! My family and I had such a wonderful vacation that here we are 3 weeks later and still raving about it. The house was perfect, the deck was perfect to just sit and watch the lake, the kitchen was well stocked with everything you need and there were towels for days! The pictures truly do not show this house justice. We enjoyed swimming in the lake, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and the hot tub was a nice added bonus! As a Mom of two young boys, I was nervous about 'baby proofing' but upon arrival I was happy to see the railings of the deck were re-done and a rolling gate to block off the stairs! Richard really has everything covered. The lake is extremely quiet and Richard's house has the perfect 'beach' area for little ones! If you are looking for a place to relax and peace and quiet this is it! I cannot say enough about how easy Richard was to work with and how amazing our stay was! We plan to be back next year!

Great house, great location!

  • 5 of 5

We were here for the week of the fourth and the minute we walked in, we fell in love with house. It was roomy but kozy at the same time. Three bedrooms upstairs with an open kitchen/dining and living area with a wrap around deck facing the pond. Downstairs was another bedroom and living area with ping pong/pool table. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you need. There is an outdoor fire pit that we enjoyed a couple of evenings just a few feet away from the water. There is a dock with some pretty good fishing. I have some great pictures of my son pulling out a few nice bass! There are also chairs on the dock to sit and watch the loons. There are two kayaks and two canoes that we used several times during the week. My wife and daughter had never kayaked before and they loved it. This is also pet friendly and it was great to have our pup along on vacation with us. We actually took her for a ride in the canoe and had her in the water swimming for the first time. I think she liked the canoe better than swimming! She roamed around the house like she owned it. Bird watching was amazing at all times if the day. We enjoyed it here so much that we didn't take any day trips, we stayed at the house and relaxed! Richard was great and patiently answered all of our questions. We will certainly stay here again. We're already looking forward to it!

We can't begin to describe how much fun we had while staying at this rental property! Richard was very kind and accommodating throughout the whole rental process. There was a little bit of construction going on at the lake house next door, but they were very nice and made sure to be respectful during the morning hours.

There was plenty of games and activities available to keep our kids busy for weeks! The dock on the lake provides a great spot for enjoying sunrises, fishing, kayaking, etc. Can't wait to visit again next year!!

Perfect place for the whole family to relax

  • 5 of 5

This was our second summer with two week stay at this wonderful house. It is such a peaceful, fun place to be. The kitchen is well stocked, as others have mentioned, with staples like salt, sugar, trash bags, paper towels, etc. and plenty of cookware and utensils. Our three kids (16, 12 and 10) loved the first floor space which opens onto the hot tub and has ping pong/pool table and TV. We parents enjoyed the upper level with screened in porch, deck with lake views, bird watching and great spots to eat/relax. The lake is clean, warm and beautiful, the loons are busy there. We really enjoyed the kayaks and canoes, which are in good condition. The kids swam all day, inventing games jumping off the dock. And our dog loved his time swimming in the lake! Neighbors are nice, they brought us a basket of local blueberries while we were there! The house is nice and well maintained, but not fussy, so we felt very relaxed there. We did a few side trips to Camden, Belfast, Freeport and Acadia National park, but really were happiest at the house. Richard the owner is very helpful. We hope to be back again! We love it.

I agree with all the reviews here the place was great! We enjoyed the kayaks and canoe and swimming during the day. At night we would have camp fires and play ping pong!
