About The Owner

Hi! We are Tom and Mary Kearney. We live in Savage, Minnesota, a suburb of the Twin Cities. We fell in love with Summit County back in 1980 and have been coming back ever since. Our two daughters learned to ski out here as toddlers and Tom actually instructed part-time for Keystone when we would stay for extended periods. Keystone has always been our daughters' favorite and our youngest chose to be married here during the month of September which was absolutely gorgeous! We love it here any time of the year. It is our home away from home. Thank you for inquiring about our townhome, we know you will enjoy it as much as we do. Mary and Tom

The Owner purchased this townhome in 2009

Why The Owner chose Northwest

We have owned properties in Summit County for about 20 years. We chose Trappers Crossing because of its' peaceful surroundings. There are views of the mountains, even the ski area in the distance. It is surrounded by pine forests with the Snake River running right off of our deck. You are within walking distance of Keystone, a world class resort, yet it is quiet enough to listen to the river and wind through the pines. All of this is only an hour and a half from the Denver Airport.

Winter Wonderland

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 adults just returned from our first Christmas away from home. Our stay in Trappers Crossing made it feel like home. In fact we all mentioned several times how perfect the setting was. The condo is extremely comfortable, clean, private and well stocked. The large leather corner sofa by the fireplace was perfect for the 6 of us, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook our nightly meals (lots of extra condiments were available for use, sturdy cookware including Le Crueset casserole dishes made it a breeze), the ski locker and entryway made ski & boot storage easy, it was a 1 minute walk to the ski shuttle pickup (which comes every 20 minutes and the ski lifts are a 5 min ride away), the bathrooms and bedrooms arrangement was very comfortable, the washer & dryer made life easier, my husband even used the gas Weber BBQ to cook our Christmas turkey! The owners were gracious and very timely in communication. We have rented via VRBO several times and we would not hesitate to reserve this condo in the future. Thank you for a great stay and helping make great memories.

Perfect retreat for Summit county & beyond

  • 5 of 5

Trappers Crossing is close to the action, but away from the high density of River Run base area. Unit entry is on 2nd level with exterior stairs so lugging coolers & luggage was a bit of a chore. Pleased to find living/dining area a little larger than it appears in photos. Great townhome for our 3 generation group of 7. Teens took downstairs bedrooms (Qn & Twin) with shared full bath. Adults got the upstairs bedrooms (Qn & King) each with private bath. Plenty of privacy and space for all. All but kitchen and bath are carpeted making it a very quiet home. No noise from adjacent units except through open windows. Keystone shuttle stops at the cul-de-sac entry. Shared hot tub & sauna a few steps across the parking lot from this townhome was enjoyed nightly.

Kitchen very well equipped with all the bakeware, cassaroles, crockpot, & small appliances we might want for a weeks stay. Even a copy of the classic "Joy of Cooking" in case we needed to review high altitude cooking instructions. Appealing decor. Good beds--everyone agreed and we used all of them. A little dusty in hard-to-reach places but didn't cause any allergy issues. Two dead lightbulbs that didn't match the on-hand stash were reported to the owner. Suggestion: king bed sheets need deep pockets to stay on the mattress corners. Master shower a bit tricky to shut off. Just turn off firmly then release the water line pressure by running the sink faucet briefly. No AC and none needed even the 1st week of August. Open the windows..daytime heat cools quickly at 9300 feet as soon as the sun goes away. Gas grill on deck in good working order and well equipped. Ski locker on landing at townhome entry. Washer & dryer worked well. WiFi worked well once we figured out the log-in is alpha+numeric. Owners easy to work with & responsive. Summer activities...Arkansas River run about 1.5 hrs drive each way and well worth the trip. Easiest & quickest route to the Arkansas is via Leadville. Enjoyed burro races at Leadville Boom Days, hiked Lily Pad lake & Mayflower Gulch, drank at the Keystone Craft Beer Fest and shopped at the marvelously stocked City Market and Outlets in Dillon. "Cooks Night Out" at the Dillon Dam Brewery was very good. We'll return to this Trappers Crossing townhome.

Keystone golf outing

  • 5 of 5

This townhome fit our needs for our golf outing of 9 adults. We had a couple of problems, one was with the television which we called the owner and she couldn't figure it out over the phone, but it turned out that the settings were changed by previous renters and we set them back. The other was with the oven, which was resolved by one of our members (not sure what the fix was). Other than that the owners were quit pleasant to work with and the house was very comfortable. My only warning is that it says sleeps 10, but 2 will have to sleep on an air mattress. Not sure if I would recommend to older or disabled since there is a flight of stairs on the outside and a flight of stairs to get to 2 bedrooms inside.

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

This is such a wonderful home in the mountains! The location is perfect. You feel like you are actually in the mountains, away from it all; but you have all the comforts of home! The shuttle is great for a quick trip to the slopes, and the stop is a short walk (even with kids!). We stayed in December, and can't wait for a return trip in March! The unit is clean, comfortable, and has everything you need. The two masters were perfect for our two families, and it was a luxury being able to have the kids in another room. Plenty of room for all, well-stocked kitchen. Like I said, we can't wait to come back!

Honeymooners!

  • 5 of 5

I'm a person who tries to research reviews whenever I buy, anything from a car to a fly swatter. I am going to give you a very honest review based on my stay. My wife and I decided that we would go to Colorado for our honeymoon. We landed on Keystone and were lucky enough to stay at Trapper's Crossing. We didn't really know what to expect when we showed up even though we had read the reviews and viewed the pictures many times. Within the first minute of walking in we were blown away by its beauty! The condo was very clean upon arrival and everything was stocked for our convenience. We quickly realized that this place made us feel like we had a home in Keystone! There was cable TV, stereo system, full kitchen, completely furnished bedrooms, and plenty of unmentioned extras. After we toured the premises we realized we hadn't walked on the deck. In my opinion this was the highlight. Not only are the views breathtaking but you hear the constant flow of a creek running a few feet away. We had a few questions about keys, hot tubs usage, and bus transportation and the owners were glad to answer all of our questions. Being from a small town in Northern Minnesota I LOVED the fact I could call someone and get the answers I wanted when I wanted them. When you are at Trapper's Crossing you are within 30 minutes of four towns that have tons of things to offer. You can also walk/bike to many places on a trail located near by. When we were packing my wife and I discussed how much we were going to miss this place. We loved our stay so much that we actually missed our flight back to Minnesota. To wrap this up in a simple sentence, this place is beautiful.

Thank you Tom and Mary,

The Honeymooners

Our absolutely perfect vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been more pleased with our Keystone vacation home! The owners were very helpful all the information we needed. The home was so beautifully decorated and perfectly clean. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook for our 2 families of a total of 8 people. We loved the location. Being right on the Snake river (more like a beautiful creek) was a delight to hear off our deck or take morning strolls along it with our coffee. The whole development was lovely. We had a hot tub just yards away from our door. We were 40 min. away from 14ers Gray's and Torrey's Peaks, which we climbed, 1 1/2 hours away from our whitewater rafting adventure in Buena Vista, and very close to the beautiful town of Vail. I highly recommend taking the ski lift up the mountain just a few minutes away from this property. It's a beautiful ride up and a great 2 mile hike on top. I would definitely stay at this property again and highly recommend it.
