The Lazy Bear...At Dolly Sods

Enjoy the natural beauty of West Virginia on your 1.4 mile drive through the woods to this remote, private log home on 23 acres (All wheel drive required November thru March). As they say, "Rough roads lead to beautiful destinations". Relax, unwind, and restore at this hibernation station. We are located in the heart of Appalachia on the spur of the Allegheny Mountains near the Bear Rock Wilderness Area of Dolly Sods. Smoke Hole, Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob, Greenland Gap, Blackwater Falls, Canaan Valley, Mt Storm Lake, and two commercial caverns are nearby attractions. Stay a few days, see it all, and experience the genuine hospitality of West Virginia! Should the dates you prefer not be available please consider our other property, The Hummingbird House...On The Farm.

Beautiful, secluded spotlessly clean cabin in the woods of WV. Easy driving distance from Seneca Rock to Canaan Valley/Blackwater Falls. Absolutely stunning scenery.

We had the most relaxing stay. The cabin was absolutely perfect and sitting out on the porch watching and listening to the wildlife was beautiful. We went for a walk out the road which is through the woods and so pretty. Trent and Tonja made us feel so welcome. We will definitely be going back. The hot tub was great and everything was very clean. We slept really good too.

We had such a wonderful time here! We’re from Deep South country but currently in a big city for work and wanted to get away to a secluded place out in the woods for Labor Day weekend, this cabin checked all of our boxes! Even more beautiful in person, lots of deer and birds out everyday, well equipped and cozy! Trent was such a kind host as well, even offered to meet us late at night to guide us in, as it can be difficult to navigate the timber roads but we managed with no problem. We definitely want to visit again when there’s snow on the ground

Beautiful cabin and Trent and his wife are wonderful people. The cabin was the cleanest we have ever stayed at. Trent met us to guide us to the cabin. It you want beauty and backwoods that’s what you will get. And have 4 wheel drive cause your back in the woods but loved every minute of our stay

Awesome!

This is by far the cleanest house that we have ever stayed in. Tonja and Trent were very kind and made sure that we had a wonderful stay. The house is beautiful and away from everything. The lane was a bit rough but it tells you that in the description of the property. Glad we drove our truck. If you are thinking about renting this house I would say go for it!

Weekend

The cabin was beautiful and very clean! The house comes with towels for the hot tub, which is not listed. While we enjoyed our stay, the owner does come to the cabin every day to check the hot tub. I just felt this was very unnecessary and it was not mentioned anywhere.

Lazy Bear

The cabin is wonderful and accommodating. But, there are a couple of things future renters should know in advance. The cabin is at the end of a 2-mile heavily rutted dirt road. It's a tough drive. Cell access is spotty, even with wifi. Also, don't count on using GPS to get there or elsewhere in that area. I suggest that you download and print driving directions to anywhere you intend to go.

Polar Bear Lane

As soon as we arrived, all four of us said we weren't leaving. The pictures and description doesn't do it justice. Everything about it was perfect. The setting, the porch, the hot tub, the serenity, the size of the rooms. It was close to the destinations we wanted to visit. The host is very nice. He thought of everything for his guests comfort. We will definitely be revisiting this place. visit.This is one we would It was very clean.

This cabin is secluded and a perfect small facility getaway. The cabin is clean, well decorated, and just like the pictures. Each of us loved every moment there. Thank you for a beautiful weekend away. The road coming into the property is rugged for about a mile.

Comfortable stay and amazing hospitality

My husband and I, along with two other couples, came here to celebrate my 40th birthday. The drive was in the rain and it had been a long night, but Trent (the host) made sure we got up the long driveway with no issue, told us about nearby places and how to work the fireplace and other things in the cabin. When we got settled in we saw that a welcome note and pepperoni roll was there! The cabin was extremely clean and comfortable; it was also well stocked with nice extras like sugar, coffee, and coffee filters. They went above and beyond to make sure all of the guests felt comfortable and enjoyed their stay. I am definitely planning on coming back!

Central location

Comfortable & nicely furnished modern log home off the beaten path (high clearance vehicle best). Dolly Sods hiking very close and other attractions within 1 hour. Bluegrass music 7pm Thurs at Mullins in Moorefield my recommendation.

Clean, spacious, beautiful cabin!

The cabin was gorgeous. Super clean. Spacious. Would highly recommend staying here - it is beautiful in the photos, but even more beautiful in real life. We had a great visit!

Beautiful Comfy Get-Away House

We stayed here with our family for our daughter's wedding. The groom's family stayed in the Hummingbird House. Both houses were roomy, comfortable, and clean. We felt right at home with everything we needed for cooking, eating, sleeping, and getting prepared for the big day. Everything met or exceeded our expectations.

Peace & quiet near Dolly Sods

We had a wonderful stay at Trent & Tonja’s cabin. Trent was very friendly. He popped by to check on us once. The cabin is clean & very well equipped, especially in the kitchen. The hot tub was warm & ready to use when we arrived. Master bed was comfortable (the only one we used). Shower pressure was great (I didn’t want to get out). It was the perfect place to relax after hiking & berry picking in Dolly Sods.

Amazing property!

The husband and I stayed at The Lazy Bear for a long weekend and it was absolutely perfect. Trent and Tonja have done a fabulous job with making their guests feel at home in their cabin. Super clean, super cute (lots of bears!), and very comfortable. We will absolutely be back for another long weekend in the colder months!

Perfect!!

This cabin was absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. We found a little spot of heaven on top of the mountain ❤️The hosts were very easy to keep in contact with, and were very kind. I can say with certainty that we will be returning to this hidden gem.
