Overview

About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4-6

As the story goes, this cottage was once a distillery that crafted rye rum and corn whiskey for sale in Philadelphia. Located within a beautiful setting with natural and historical wonders to explore, we are a small family farm raising sheep, goats, alpacas, chickens...and cats. A rustic experience awaits!

- Relax on the front porch, enjoy your favorite beverage and listen to the sounds of the Conewago Creek.

- Help with barn chores. Or just view the animals grazing from your perch on the front porch.

- Receive a tour of this Historic Mill and property.

- Take a leisurely stroll through the woods & wetlands trail on the property.

-Walk or ride your bike from the Mill to Mt. Gretna (12 miles) on the Conewago Rail Trail located right across the creek. While there, visit the regionally famous 'Jigger Shop' for some ice cream (open seasonally), swim at the lake, attend the annual art festival in August.

-Great central location for sight seeing & history inspired tours. Guests have taken trips to Gettysburg, Hershey Park, Lancaster, Philadelphia, Washington DC, New York City.

-We are happy to offer suggestions of things to do. Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine tour/steam train ride & a visit to nearby Centralia is one of those special unusual side trips that we love (approx 1hr 30 mins away)

Why K Neale chose Dutch Country

From the 200+ year old farmhouses and mill to the peaceful creek flowing over huge boulders, we knew this was a special place to raise our family and animals.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Watching the sheep graze from the swing on the guest house's front porch.

A very comfortable house, oozing character, in breathtaking surroundings.

We cannot praise Aberdeen Mills enough as a place for a vacation! The house is very clean and well cared for with gorgeous views from the porch. The grounds include a fantastic swimming hole which was great for hot days and a fire pit by the creek that was a fantastic focus for relaxing in the evening! We also made great use of the grill for cook-outs.

Katcha and Merritt are fantastic hosts, from the welcome pack of local wine and their own honey to a fascinating tour of the colonial era mill, this was a trip our family thoroughly enjoyed and plans to repeat! They even rustled up a guitar and fiddle for our campfires!

Amenities are a short drive away in Hershey or Elizabethtown...we truly had the best of both worlds!!

Lots of character and lots of sights nearby

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed the house, visiting with the animals, and touring the mill. There was plenty of space for the four of us, and it was an easy drive to see attractions in Hershey, Lancaster, and Harrisburg. The trails on the property and adjacent to the property were also fun to explore.

One point of view….(The Husband)….. Initially my wife found the location on HomeAway and I was skeptical. My preference generally would be a nice hotel or resort, so the idea of staying on essentially a farm gave me some concerns. I must say that after our 2 nights at the Cottage, I would HIGHLY recommend this cottage to anyone and everyone(we will be posting on our neighborhood facebook page as well). The owners were very accommodating and go out of their way to make it feel like your home without being intrusive. The first morning they allowed our girls to bottle feed a goat, help feed the other farm animals, and assist in getting the eggs from the chickens. They have many stray friendly cats on the property(which we loved) and the girls spent many hours petting them and assigning new names. The cottage was built in the 1780’s, but despite its age had all amenities that one would need or want…PLUS some(books to read, movies, games, sporting equipment). There is a stream on the property and we loved hiking the area and just enjoying the peacefulness of nature at its finest. In my opinion, the best part was that it was peaceful and mind clearing. The first morning we were there we had the opportunity to wake up early, brew a pot of coffee, and sit on the front porch and enjoy the sounds and sights of a heaven like setting without hearing horns honking or trains whistling. If you need a get away where you want to relax, enjoy family without the disruption of noisy chaos, and be in nature, then this is the place for you. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Thanks for all…..Kevin, Kim, Natalie and Jordan.

Charming farm cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing experience here with our two little kids, they got one on one experience with Katcha and Merritt, helping with barnyard chores and learning how to grind corn into flour! Very charming property and hospitality. Highly recommend!!

Wonderful Experience!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the cottage, and once again a wonderful experience. The farm was interesting and relaxing. It was an amazing time for our granddaughters to help on the farm, and a special thanks to Katcha for making their stay so memorable. The cottage is very convenient to many attractions in that area. We spent a day at Hershey, went to see Jonah at the Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster, and had a blast at Escape on Queen in Lancaster. If you want a unique and fun experience, I highly recommend the Miller's Cottage.

Very enjoyable!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the property, house and adored the animals on the farm. It was a beautiful and comfortable stay for sure. The house was the perfect size and everything was clean and tidy when we arrived. The owners were very friendly as well. Many times they went out of their way to make sure we had the best experience during our stay. We loved waking up and eating breakfast on the porch to see all the gorgeous nature. It's in the perfect location, close to Lancaster and Hersey, so it's easy to travel. All in all we'd give it 100 out of 100 stars if we could. We can't wait to go back again.

P.S. The property it's self has some great trails and if you love the outdoors, it's worth it going out and exploring it.

Felt like home.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this cottage was the highlight of our trip. My husband, our two children and I stayed here because we were thrilled to go to Hershey Park, however, once we arrived to the cottage we didn't want to leave and we wished we had made time to stay there longer. I don't think there is enough room to list everything we loved about this property. It had everything you need to have a peaceful vacation. My 5 year old boy was in a wilderness wonderland and cried when we had to leave. I didn't cry because I'm too grown-up to do so, but the tears were welling up (wink). I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
