One of the most valuable things I've learned in life is how to be the minority viewpoint in a room without immediately folding. I grew up in Texas, but eventually finished college in San Francisco, where I discovered what it meant to be surrounded by people who didn't necessarily see the world the way I did. Sometimes people had strong opinions about where I came from before they even knew my first name. That experience taught me something I still carry with me: listening doesn't require agreement, understanding doesn't require surrendering your convictions, and sometimes the people who challenge us the most teach us the most about ourselves. The edges get sanded off, but the backbone gets stronger. I've carried that philosophy into this home. I've designed it, renovated it, made mistakes, learned from them, and poured more of myself into it than most people will ever know. There have been plenty of frustrations and tears along the way, but also tremendous pride in what I've created. I've learned that making a place beautiful is one thing. Making someone feel comfortable, respected, and genuinely welcome is another. And that begins with listening. I won't pretend I've always gotten everything right. I haven't. But I care enough to keep learning, and I believe that matters. So when someone takes the time to recognize not just how a home looks, but the thought and care behind it, it means something very personal to me. Because ultimately, this isn't just a property I rent. It's a piece of my life that I get to share with other people. And I want them to feel good about being here.
