We've just returned from our fifth (!) vacation at this cottage, and we're already signed up for year 6. The only word for this property is perfection. The property itself is beautiful and well-maintained. The location could not be better. It's centrally located to so many attractions, that we're still finding new places to investigate, although this year we spent more time just sitting out on the deck and watching life pass by on the Straits of Mackinac. The owners and caretaker are responsive to questions and concerns, so we feel well taken care of when we stay at this cottage. We stay for three weeks and return home each year relaxed and counting the days until we can go back again. We look at other properties every year, and then sign right back up for this one. It's hard to surpass what is already perfect.

Fantastic Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

Believe it or not, the home is even more spectacular than the pictures show. Some girlfriends and I stayed here recently to celebrate milestone birthdays. The home is wonderfully laid out with plenty of space for everyone with everyone still being close enough to be part of the fun. The three bathrooms made it easy for everyone to get ready. We have stayed in vacation homes over the years and have never stayed in a home nicer than this home. It has everything you will need for an amazing stay. The view of the Bridge is just breath-taking day and night. The location of the home makes most of the UP accessible for day trips - Pictured Rocks, Tahquamenon Falls, the Locks, all an easy drive away. The fact that there is a grocery store 2 minutes away is a bonus. The owner was fantastic to work with - very responsive to any questions we had before, during and even after our trip. I cannot recommend this property enough. You won't be sorry you stayed here. I am already looking forward to future trips back to this amazing house.

Phenomenal Location and Fantastic Home

  • 5 of 5

My husband, brother-in-law and sister-in-law stayed in this home for a week and never wanted to leave. The view of Lake Huron and the Mackinaw Bridge are can even see the cottage as you are coming over the bridge from Mackinaw City.

The home is fantastically equipped and furnished first class right down to the heated toilet seats with LED night lights and the lighted cupola on the roof of the house. Our temps were in the high 50's at night to high 70's during the day and the house is so well insulated we never had to turn on the heat or the AC. This home is so welcoming and inviting that we never wanted to leave.

My husband and I have rented multiple properties in the Caribbean, Florida and Arizona and this was by far the overall best property we have ever stayed in.

If we get the chance to return to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan we will definitely try to rent the "Cottage On the Straits" again.

I would give this property and the Owner 10 stars if I could.

Still deserves a 10 star rating

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year at this location, and we have nothing but high praise for this rental. This year we had more familiarity with the surrounding area, and we were able to see more of the sites. We still haven't seen it all, and so we are going back again next year - that is how good this cottage is. It is perfectly located for so many different attractions, yet it is just so relaxing to simply stay at the cottage and watch life go by on the Straits of Mackinac. This year we took our telescope, and the night sky at this location is utterly incredible.

The owners are a delight to work with - they, indeed, are another reason we were happy to have come back this year and already plan to come back next year. They are very responsive to questions and issues regarding the house. The local caretaker they have is also very kind and helpful.

We still want to give this place 10 stars instead of a measly 5.

Incredible rental

  • 5 of 5

This rental was so awesome, I wish I could give it ten stars instead of just five. The description and pictures don't do this place justice. It is a fantastic home with an equally fantastic view of the Straits of Mackinac including the magnificent Mackinac Bridge. The house was immaculate; the decorating superb. We felt as if we were staying in a luxury hotel - but with the benefit of total privacy during our stay. We didn't have the best of weather for the two weeks we rented the property, but it didn't matter at all. The house was so beautiful, that we enjoyed just sitting in the living room and watching life go by outside on the Straits, counting freighters, watching swans and ducks. The house is conveniently located for a quick ferry ride to Mackinac Island, an hour drive to the Soo for a trip through the locks, and a hour and a half from Taquamenon Falls. We can't say enough good things about this house, and we highly recommend it.

Exceeded expectations in every aspect

  • 5 of 5

We have been renting homes in this area for several years - the view from this Cottage is nothing short of spectacular. The Mackinaw bridge is so close and Mackinaw City was visable across the lake. Freighters, sporting boats, sailboats, and ferries could all be seen. The firework display from Mackinaw City was fantastic and even though it started to rain - they could be seen clearly and comfortably from the partially covered deck. We enjoyed swimming (bring your water shoes) and a few campfires. All of this, and yet felt very private. When the weather wasn't the best, there is still so much to do. If you enjoy cooking - this kitchen lacks nothing. Gourmet meals were a cinch to prepare. This home is immaculate and extremely comfortable, we couldn't have asked for anything more. The caretaker was available for any questions or concerns. This home is definitely a "10" - hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Owner's Response: It's great to hear from guests and to know that they are having a blast at the cottage. We don't get there anywhere near as much as we'd like to ourselves, so we have to live vicariously! St. Ignace is really is a jewel, and we love our prime spot overlooking the Mackinac Bridge. It's a pleasure to share it with our guests.
