About the property

One of two adjoining properties - Large Groups can Rent Both!

Apartment is located above a Security Showroom directly across from St. Mary's Hospital (where Prince George was recently born!) and only a one minute walk from Paddington Station.

There are several flights of stairs to climb after entering through the front door so access to disabled or elderly may be limited.

Upon entering the apartment you will be greeted by the tiled terracotta floors, huge skylight and exposed brick wall of the living/dining room. A compact, but well equipped kitchen also awaits you. This has recently been renovated.

There is also a small rooftop patio for barbequing or sunbathing (weather permitting). SMOKING is confined to this area!

Also on the first floor of the maisonette is a bathroom with shower and a large bedroom comprising 4 single beds. Of special interest is the ornate gas fireplace. The large picture windows look out onto busy, cosmopolitan Praed Street.

Up one flight of stairs you will find three additional bedrooms, the bathroom and a utility closet, where washer and dryer are located. Two of the bedrooms are medium sized and furnished with double beds, while the third is much smaller and features bunk beds. Most bedrooms are provided with clock radios and hairdryers. Floors on the upper level are hardwood except for the bathroom which features black and white tiling.

Recessed lighting is featured throughout the apartment. There is central heating but no air conditioning although in the case of a heat wave we will provide fans.

Our housekeeper, Maria S., is available on request for extra cleaning (at your own expense). She lives very nearby so can be called if any problems should arise.

If you are part of a large group you can also rent our next door property which has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and can accommodate up to 8 persons.

About Maria Barry

The property has been in our family for over 60 years. My father started the business on the ground floor as a bicycle (and scooter) repair shop. He later expanded into cutting keys and eventually into a fully fledged locksmith firm. Today my 3 brothers and one sister continue the tradition! My role, since my older brother and his family moved out, is to keep the upstairs flats rented out as frequently as possible. The family is of Italian/Irish/Scottish decent. (We also have a property in Barga, Tuscany (Italy) listed with VRBO.

2nd Time Still Great!

This was our second trip to London and the second time we stayed in this flat. The location is perfect, just a quick walk to the tube to get anywhere/everywhere we needed/wanted. Great walking options for good food, fast food, coffee, breakfasts, pubs, and late night food.

Yes, there are stairs, and a reasonable amount of them, and yes, if someone is having a row on the street you can hear it all. But we didn't hesitate to book this a second time and wouldn't hesitate to book it a third.

Close to Train and Tube, lots of space, clean and comfortable

It's deceiving at first view as you approach the flat in this busy neighbourhood with lots of characters, but once you've navigated the stairs, you'll find a very spacious, clean and comfortable flat. The nearness to public transportation was a real plus for our family of six and the local fast food places provided a quick affordable meal after full days of doing the touristy things. The lack of air conditioning and stairs moved it from a 5 star to a 4 star experience but otherwise all was fine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here as I felt it represented a fair value.

Bright and airy apartment in a wonderful location

The apartment is very clean, spacious, bright and airy. The location could not be beat with decent restaurant choices nearby. In the foyer, there were plenty of sightseeing pamphlets to browse through, too. There isn't an elevator, so it might be difficult for those with mobility issues.

Maria was extremely welcoming and gracious, even while meeting us at, almost, midnight! We were glad to have stayed at the apartment.

Awesome location

My wife and I with four children loved our stay in London. The proximity to Paddington was perfect. It was also convenient with many restaurants close by. Noisy of course at night, which is to be expected being in any city. We brought out silicone earplugs, so I slept well while there. Kitchen cabinet needs simple hinge tightening so it closes. Thanks!

Great location and great property!

I booked this property for a few colleagues who were in London for a meeting and they said that it was great. There's definitely a good amount of space and seating for all your needs. I would also like to note that Maria (owner) was available to answer all of my questions prior to booking and made this the smoothest VRBO experience I've ever had. Maria (housekeeper) was very helpful as well and was available later in the evening to meet one of the guests. Highly recommend this property!

A clean and secure flat in an accessible location

Our group of five very much enjoyed our stay at this Paddington Maisonette. Communication was excellent. The maisonette is clean, presentable, secure and well equipped with TV, WiFi, functional kitchen and two modern bathrooms with excellent showers. Our stay was hassle free. Walking distance from Paddington Station/tube and Lancaster Gate tube means getting around is easy. Waitrose is just down the road for food shopping. We will consider staying here again next time we visit London. Thanks.
