Come on down to our special corner of Galveston --a terrific corner unit that overlooks both the Gulf and the Galveston skyline. This condo is right on the beach. You'll have sensational views!
Our condo is a great get-away spot on quiet East Beach, perhaps the best beach in Galveston. Not on the busy Seawall, this condo is just five minutes away, whenever you're ready to party!
Here you can watch the sun rise or set from one of two balconies. Or walk outdoors and right onto the beach, where you can stroll for miles. Or just sit and bask in the sun. There's no Seawall Blvd. to navigate.
The condo is tastefully decorated in a bright, contemporary style. It sleeps four comfortably, two in the roomy bedroom featuring a king, and two on the futon in the living room. Two full baths with showers and tubs accommodate our guests. So folks in the bedroom and folks on the futon have separate bathrooms.
The fully equipped kitchen includes everything you'll need to whip up a boiled shrimp dinner or a pancake breakfast. There's a microwave, coffeemaker, electric range, fridge, and for easy clean-up, a dishwasher and disposal.
We've installed password-protected wireless internet access, so you can easily and securely stay in touch while away.
The bedroom now includes a new, 32' flat-screen TV, in addition to the flat-screen TV in the living room.
Elevators whisk you to our sixth-floor location. Downstairs are a coin-operated laundry, a pool for a refreshing dip, and tennis courts. We have rackets and balls.
Come visit soon!
We are beach-bound Dallasites who love the water. A Mississippi native, Barbara took family vacations to the beautiful beaches of the Florida Panhandle. Robert is a lifelong animal lover who has grown to appreciate the incredible bird life on the Upper Texas Coast.
Barbara S Hyman purchased this condo in 2009
We had a small beachfront house on the Bolivar Peninsula that we lost to Hurricane Ike. In some ways, the condo reminds us of the house. The condo complex is located on a quiet part of the beach, like our house was. And the views from our sixth-floor corner spot are also pretty darn nice. What's different? Now we have a dishwasher and a real bedroom!
Robert loves taking dips in the pool before bedtime. Barbara walks the beach, looking for beach glass. Both enjoy relaxing on one of the balconies, wine in hand, soaking up the view in the Gulf breeze. Moonlight over the water is spectacular.
Great property with amazing views of the beach, seawall and Pleasure Pier. We especially enjoyed the use of the telescope!
So relaxing to be on the Gulf at Galveston. Explored town and beach fully and really enjoyed the history of Galveston. The condo is at the east end and couldn't be in a better location. Five minutes to pier on the seawall and five minutes to the harbor and town. Very easy to come and go and then spend the last couple of hours sitting on the sand enjoying the end of the day. Nice private beach.
Condo was a little bit smaller than I imagined but very functional and nice to have the two baths. Like that it is a corner unit with views of the seawall and pier in the distance and the Gulf straight out front. Would certainly love to go again in Sept or Oct and would definately recommend it.
Loved the Harbor Tour with all the dolphins as well as the ferry ride. Touring old mansions is definitely worth the time. Seeing the 1877 sailing ship Elissa at Pier 21 was very interesting and worthwhile. The Galveston Historical Foundation also conducts the harbor tour mentioned as well as the documentary of the great storm.
Restaurants we liked the original location of Shrimp 'N Stuff a neighborhood no frills place with great shrimp. Also the Mosquito Cafe was great on 14th street. Went to Gaido's which had excellent food but was very expensive...had to go at least once, in business for over 100 years. Olympia Grill was also good on the seawall.
The Strand district had many fine shops and was easy to tour. The La King's Confectionery has great saltwater taffy and I'm not a big fan of taffy usually. Fun to watch them pull it. A few doors down was a great chocolate shop.
The owner of the condo is so nice and fun to talk with. We really got a feel for the area and will look forward to going again to include some of the things we just didn't have time for. Really a great place.
We have stayed at Islander East for 10 yrs. This is one of the best rooms we have stayed in. This room has everything you need and more. My brother and his wife came with us and slept of the futon. My brother is 6'3" and had no problems. The room works for 4 people because of the 2 baths. Loved being on the corner with great views of city. We love being right on the beach but close to town. Don't bring cleaning stuff or vacuum(like I did) this room has it all. The grounds and boardwalk to beach is great. Barbara is great to work with. Been one week today since we were there and I'm ready to go back. Don't miss out on this great room. Make sure to ride ferry to Crystal beach (free). Beautiful over there. Also go tour Moody Mansion. If you love candy go to La kings Confectionery. Eat at Steve's Landing on Crystal beach for great seafood. Don't miss out on this great room and beautiful Galveston Texas.
Absolutely love the balconies in the evening! Nothing more relaxing than listening to the waters:)) and the beach was not over crowded. The bed was very comfortable and accommodations make for a very inviting place to stay. Owner was very friendly and helpful with information.
Our 3 nights at Barbara's condo was nothing short of amazing. The condo had everything we could possibly need. It was such a perk to have 2 full bathrooms. The beach was so quiet. Down the way we saw the crowded stewart public beach. We had no one within ear shot of us every day we were there. The walk to the condo from the beach was very short and convenient. Parking was close and always an empty lot. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed and more. The bedroom was big enough to put all of our things and a pack and play for our 3 yr old son. We became so at home, the first night back at our actual home, I woke up and thought I was still there! We will definitely come back the next time we are in Galveston. Thank you so much for the wonderful accommodations!
We enjoyed the corner view so much! We've stayed at Islander East before and LOVE how quiet the beach is. We prefer not to be around the busy public beach areas. But, it's nice to be able to walk to them on occasion ; )
We loved that both balconies on the corner unit are bigger than the other unit we stayed in last year at Islander East. Having two balconies and bathrooms was nice with 2 adults and 2 kids. The bedroom was very big so we could spread out. Our kids slept with us on the King bed just because we didn't like the idea of them in another room with the balcony. Next time we will bring our air mattress because there was definitely enough room on the floor to accommodate it. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (which is always a challenge for us because we have a very comfy bed at home). I wasn't sure about bringing our own linens, but I really kind of liked having our own personal touch as well as knowing exactly who has used the linens.
From the first interaction via email to the final call to the owners to let them know we were leaving, I was very pleased with the communication. They were out of country during our stay, but made sure we had an alternate contact. They were a pleasure to work with and we will definitely stay here again because they are easy to work with and we liked the unit location!
Area is world-renowned for bird watching, particularly the Bolivar Peninsula, a short ferry ride across Galveston Bay.
