This is a unique property on Maalaea Bay. Recently upgraded and renovated, it boasts wheelchair accessible features such as a large master bathroom, ADA compliant, including a large roll-in shower. Ground floor accessibility and very close handicap parking stalls make access ideal. No elevators to have to deal with. You can roll right up to the sandy beach!

If you are not in need of accessible features, this unit is still the perfect getaway. It is in a quiet area of the Makani A Kai condominium with lots of privacy. Adjacent to a wildlife preserve area and 4 miles of uninterrupted sandy beach, there is no other condominium to the south for miles.

It is also directly adjacent to the best swimming area in Maalaea and a world-renown surf spot. The locals know that this beach is the best kept secret on Maui - away from the high-traffic tourist areas.

We live and grew up on Maui and our own house is only minutes away! If you have any needs, please feel free to call us!

What makes this condo unique

It makes a difference to be at a property right on the sandy beach. This low-rise condominium has a swimming pool and a nice grassy lawn with lawn chairs and a BBQ area with gas grills - all right on the beach! During whale season you can see whales playing just offshore.

Great apartment and close to the beach. Apartment has towels, chair and umbrella for the beach. Including kids beach toys... ;)

Has all the facilities a family of five needs and it is in the middle of everything.

Perfect quiet home base centrally located to lots of activities

Would definitely recommend Jon's place if you are looking for a reasonably priced condo in a quiet neighborhood. It is not fancy but very practical and served our purposes well!

The unit is NOT beachfront as one might think by the pictures but the condo complex is. This unit is the one nearest the road but the beach is still just a short walk thru the complex. You can see the water from one side of the patio which is on the south side facing the park, not the row of other condos. The complex is the last and nicest one in the row, with a nice empty beach stretching for several miles to the south. The beach was never crowded and is great for walking and good for swimming if you make sure to get in where there are no rocks out in the water.

Now for the was very clean and had most of the conveniences we needed. There are two boogie boards, several beach mats, one set of snorkel gear, 5 beach towels, a portable cooler and a few portable beach chairs in the unit at the time of this review. Some of the reviews mentioned bugs but other than the odd bug which would be hard to avoid in Hawaii, we had no problems as long as we were careful to take out the trash daily. One or two small lizards in the unit a couple times but unavoidable considering the number of them outside. One thing all of us noticed was that the beds and pillows were super comfortable! Kitchen is small but very serviceable, with a microwave, oven, dishwasher, toaster, frig, dishes, etc. Four chairs on the patio with two very small tables. Nearby Farmers Market Maui and Times Supermarket for reasonably priced groceries.

The condo is centrally located in the island and only 15 minutes from Kahului airport. Some amazing and economical activity ideas are:

*Driving the road to Hana and then continuing on around the back side of Haleakala (the road isn't as bad as people say it is), stopping at Hana Gold Cacao Plantation, Wainapanapa State Park and Waimoku Falls.

*Driving all the way around the north end of the island on Hwy 30, stopping at Banyan Tree State Park, Mokule'ia Beach, Kapalua Bay, Napili Beach and Honolua Bay.

*Driving toward airport, stopping at the Maui Tropical Plantation and walking among beautiful plants and flowers and then stopping at Iao Valley State Park.

*Snorkeling at Ahihi-Kina'u Natural Reserve.

*Driving up Haleakala to view the sunset (lots of Jacaranda trees blooming along the road in season).

Clean, quiet, nicely remodeled condo. Good location for exploring all parts of the island.

This condo is at the back of a small complex, which made it feel very private (which was really nice!). I really liked the location, which was quiet, with plenty of room to play on the beach and plenty of lounge chairs and a nice little pool, too. The placement of Maalaea on the island makes it ideal for exploring all the great sights!

The condo is a great size for 2 couples. We had 5 adults and a baby and it was a little small for that size, but it worked out fine as we weren't in Maui to spend our time inside :D I wouldn't call the condo "baby-friendly", but it isn't advertised that way anyway. No one in our party required wheelchair accessibility, but i think it would be perfect for those who do!

Jon was very responsive, and the property managers (right next door to Jon's unit) were very helpful and friendly.

Great property! Jon was great to work with!

Jon has a great condo. It was nice, clean, and had everything we needed. Location was great, close to great spots, but super quiet with an amazing kid friendly beach. Families from adjacent condos walked down daily to use the beach in front of this condo. The photo of the beach in the description is from the complex not the actual property, which was slightly disappointing, but we quickly realized how difficult it was to find a condo to accommodate 6 with such an amazing beach, so our disappointment was quickly offset. We would happily stay here again.
