## Emplacement
Ondres is a commune in the Landes region of Nouvelle Aquitaine, 10 km north of Bayonne.
The territory of the large locality of 15 km2 is bordered to the west by the Atlantic Ocean and to the south and east, is formed in part of wetlands (ponds) and forests. At the edge of the Basque country, Ondres was a rural village for a long time exploiting the pines for their resin and pine cones (pine cones). The village was also known as a stop for pilgrims on one of the roads to Santiago de Compostela.
After the Second World War, Ondres, which consists of a town and two hamlets has gradually become a seaside resort with a family character, particularly appreciated by lovers of surfing and hiking.
With a population of nearly 5,200 (compared to 1,500 in 1945), this is a place to stay or at least a stop-over near the major Basque cities (Bayonne, Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz) and other famous resorts on the Aquitaine coast.
