Disappointing...
The home was dirty and in various states of repair.
When we arrived;
1. Yard and grass not done. It was done a couple of days later...
2. Near every surface in the home was dirty. E.g. the stove and range hood were greasy, countertops had a grunge feeling; tableware trays/utensil drawers even had dirt in them. Shower stalls improperly cleaned; floors dirty with "dust bunnies" throughout. You knew this wasn't just a one-off or short-term issue.
3. Dishes (plates/cups) were chipped/cracked.
We cleaned most of the areas we used but paying a cleaning fee added insult to injury.
The listing makes reference to the home being "newly renovated"... we didn't see it that way. There were a number of areas in need of maintenance:
1. A number of burnt out light bulbs or switches not working.
2. Two windows wouldn't lock so when the winds came up the windows blew open and rain blew in. Finally we had to put an armoire in front of one window to keep it closed.
3. Toilet roll dispenser in second bathroom broken off the wall.
4. Light fixtures (some worked, others didn't).
We've travelled extensively over the years and this has to be the one of the more disappointing properties we've stayed. It's expensive. For now, this is a 2.5/3.0-star property - with a 5-star price!
There is a level of expectation and we feel it didn't meet modest expectations. Until the cleanliness issues and maintenance deficiencies are back in order we wouldn't stay here again.
