About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 3.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This area of the Georgia coast remains quiet and secluded and lies in the path of hundreds of migratory bird species along the colonial coast migratory route. Reveling in each sunrise, taking lazy afternoon naps and toasting the sunset is the norm rather than the exception here. Darien/McIntosh County is famous for its fishing and rich in history. The surrounding tidal creeks and rivers are teaming with fish. Buy fresh shrimp and seafood right off the shrimp boats! Nearby Sapelo Island is alive with culture. This remote barrier island offers tours, biking through maritime forests and beautiful beach for great shelling. This coastal home is accessible by car. It is beautifully decorated with every concern for detail. From the gourmet kitchen to the luxurious master suite and your own private swimming pool. This 3000+ square foot marsh front home with tidal creek access is a truly tranquil and relaxing setting. Boaters, you are just minutes from the Intracoastal Waterway and Doboy Sound. Public boat ramps and marinas are 5-10 minutes away. 55 minutes south of Savannah, GA and one hour north of Jacksonville Florida. A short 30 minute drive to St. Simon's Island and Jekyll Island.

Keywords: Coastal water front Home with pool 4 BR 3 Bath. Fabulous views and quiet setting.

Girlfriends' weekend

  • 4 of 5

Overall the five women enjoyed our stay. Kitchen layout was perfect for cooking and talking. The view of the marsh is fabulous. There were a few problems that moderately marred our visit. Management forgot to leave a key to get in and we had to wait for it to be delivered. The coffee carafe was broken and we made coffee in a measuring cup for a day while waiting for the replacement carafe. The pool was not as clean as we would have liked. The pool walls were a bit scummy and we had to scoop dead crabs out each day by hand. Also the pool house/bar hadn't been cleaned for quite some time. We had to scrape off mud dauber nests and dead bugs and wash it all down before we could use it. Finally, the shower in the master bath didn't have hot water, so only two showers out of three served 5 women. The rest of the house was clean and comfortable, there were plenty of towels and we all liked the beds. Excellent location for a trip to Sapelo. And although the house seemed remote, it is not that far from grocery stores and dining.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay and this beautiful home. I apologize about the coffee carafe. It was delivered a day later than expected despite having been ordered before the last occupants (who accidently broke the previous one) arrived. All bathrooms have hot water. An instant/tankless hot water system services the entire house. Since the system is located at the far end of the house from the master bath it may take a minute or 3 for the hot water to get there. Pool is serviced weekly at this time of year. When aware of problems I can call for extra cleaning and am happy to do so. Sometimes folks 'forget' to shower (pool shower room) sunscreen off before getting in the pool. Little crabs....yep out here in the low country the little sand crabs are every where. On occasion raccoons also come and wash their paws at the pool. Key, yes, manager (me) was out of town with elderly mom having surgery.....sorry you had to wait the few minutes for my husband to run it over to you. Will speak to yard management about the pool house bar. Thank you

Kelham Spring Break

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed with the comforts of the home. What we needed or wanted was provided nicely. The location was a bit farther out than what was expected. However, the peacefulness and sounds of the island were very relaxing. We highly recommend this home to any family. Thank you.

Lovely Home Overlooking the Marshes

  • 5 of 5

This lovely house is well-furnished and comfortable. There is a large deck across the back overlooking the marshes, partially shaded. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped. We found the home very clean. Although we did not use it, there is a very nice pool beside the house.

We enjoyed our walks around the area and watching the birds on the marshes. One morning a wood stork flew over and then landed in a tree by the marsh. We sat watching each other for quite a while. This was our second visit to this home, and I'm sure we will return again.

Wonderful, relaxing, well-located home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house during Spring Break and it was perfect for us. The house is someone's much loved second home and is managed by a local couple who are extremely friendly and helpful. They were very quick to respond to emails to make the reservation and to answer questions we had before the trip. The description and photos in the listing are accurate. The house is very clean, well-maintained, and stocked with everything you could possibly need. We loved having the attached garage on the last morning because we could stay dry loading the car while it was pouring rain outside.

What the website can't convey is how relaxing and beautiful the house and the surrounding area are. We took our dog for long walks around the area and enjoyed the many birds and the herd of deer we regularly saw. The back deck is perfect for sunning while the front porch is perfect for relaxing in the shade with a book. Wherever we went during the day we loved coming home to beautiful sunsets and a quiet evening together. We worried about biting bugs, but a constant breeze from the ocean kept the no-see-ums at bay so we spent a lot of time outdoors.

Our teen daughter greatly appreciated the quiet nights to de-stress and catch up on her sleep. She also appreciated the excellent wifi to stay in touch with her friends and stream some movies before bed.

The house's location in Darien was convenient for us because we knew we wanted to go south to the island beaches (30-45 minutes) and north to Savannah (1 hour). Our week flew by and we all felt like this home made our first trip to coastal Georgia really special. We have rented from VRBO several times and this is one of our favorite houses.

We'd recommend this rental to anyone who enjoys a peaceful, beautiful location and want to be in a beautiful home. It is not the right rental for someone who wants to be in the middle of all the spring break action or just wants a crash pad.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and for staying at Sea Breeze. Nature and quiet beauty is what this area is all about. Sounds like you took full advantage of what the Georgia coast has to offer. We hope you'll return for another visit.

Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

The house is very nice. Loved the huge kitchen and island. It was very clean. The only disappointing part was that the master bedroom did not have a king size bed. They did have one in another bedroom, however, it had a hugh lump in the middle of it. The mattress needs to be replaced, and we could not sleep on it. The other problem was the big horseflies. You could not sit by the pool because of them. They would bite us while in the pool. They were constantly trying to land on us, and if they bite you, you immediately know it as it really stings. We bought candles to keep them away, but the breeze always blew them out. I never thought being so close to the marsh would attract so many flies.

Owner's Response: The King bed in one of the additional bedrooms is two twins put together allowing for a change back to twins when needed. Horse flies are some of Mother Natures meanest little beasts. They are present for a short time and attracted to dark moving objects. Horse fly traps help some as does where light colored clothing and a cap.

Review of Our Recent Stay

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful House and the migratory birds were amazing. Very Peaceful!

Jan and Bill helped to settle us in and went out of their way to help with all our needs.

However, for this quality of home I did expect better bedding. The queen in the master was not of the quality as the rest of the furnishings. The mattress, the sheet thread count nor the pillows were of the standard this home should provide.

I think if these items were corrected one would fine this place just perfect!
