About Patte Shanholtzer
HI! I live next door. I graduated from Oak Harbor High School. I returned to the Island 20 years ago. Upon my return I spent several years teaching home school children about the diverse nature found on our Island. I enjoy meeting new people and introducing them to the beauty of Whidbey Island and all the adventure at our front door. I have a "fiber farm" across the street with two very sweet sheep, an alpaca and several hens. (fresh eggs available)
Patte Shanholtzer purchased this House in 2008
Why Patte Shanholtzer chose Coupeville
When this house came available, as a builder, my dad decided to buy it as a "project" after my mom passed away from cancer. There is a large, very old, Pacific Yew tree in the front yard which has properties (taxal) that is used to treat cancer. Dad never actually lived at the house. He decided to offer it as a family get away and vacation rental.

Beautiful, peaceful view and great hostess!!
The view made me never want to leave! Our hostess Patte was also SO accommodating and helpful. My son loved feeding the sheep and alpaca too:)
Thank you! I enjoyed meeting you and your family.
Thank you for leaving the house in such wonderful condition.
Enjoyed our Bakerview Beach House Stay!
Great place, view, access to the beach and location in Coupeville!
Stunning View in Peaceful Setting
My husband and I enjoyed our stay for a week in July. The mountain, water, beach view is spectacular! The home is surrounded by mature trees and shrubs for privacy from neighboring homes. The location was peaceful and quiet.
The kitchen faces the view and was fully equipped including a coffee bean grinder, blender and two mixers.
The covered deck with stairs down to the beach was a great place to eat and relax. There is a craft room in the basement that would be great for art projects.
The host Patte lives next door and has a small farm across the street. We greatly enjoyed her farm tour and meeting her animals and seeing how she spins fibers to make sweaters.
Some tips for renters:
I brought a water filter pitcher (ZeroWater brand) that makes tap water taste great. The tap water there was okay, but I enjoy the taste of filtered water without the waste of plastic bottles.
I also brought my folding reclining lounge chair. They have plenty of upright deck seating, but I enjoyed reclining on the deck.
Overall it was a great place to relax, enjoy nature and visit the charming old town of Coupeville.
Fabulous view, everything that was promised!
We really enjoyed our stay. Comfortable beds, internet, even hummingbirds. Patte was wonderful and able to accommodate our camper. Everything except the food was really provided
Peaceful and comfortable!
We've stayed at Bakerview a couple of times and it does not disappoint! The owner is generous and kind and the house is comfortable with all amenities. The beach is beautiful with plenty of places to explore. Neighborhood quiet, everyone we met friendly, and the price is fair. We will be back!
What a lovely house!
This house was perfect for our family. The setting was beautiful with a lovely deck to view the ocean below. Our hostess couldn't have been more gracious and helpful. I would definitely recommend this property.
