I served on the board of Tahoe Cedars Property Owners in Tahoma from 2000-2004 working on several programs. In driving the development of the West Shore - Best Shore and The West Shore is the Best Shore trademarks, this was done to formalize the long held affectionate name reference. The property owner's association can now use and market the taglines to promote the highly desired west shore with the intention for proceeds to go back into the community. The license plate frames that I developed - the original chrome and black license plate frames with the bear paw sold like hot cakes and 100% proceeds given to the Marie Sluchak Community Park. Many folks still ask for it! We have a 30 year established El Dorado County dog leashing and licensing ordinance - safety and well being of dogs and citizens is top of mind - we have been able to reduce the large packs of dogs that ran wild in the streets and yards without any consequence or control. Having supported bear protections obtaining funding for aversion efforts that encourage bears to go back into the forest without harm. As a champion of the west shore I know we can continue to improve the quality of life and understanding between part time, full time homeowners and tourists. As a banking and payments entreprenuer, have been in my own consulting practice for many years, working for card companies, banks and processors launching many Visa related programs and products. I finished graduate school in 2010 with a MA in 21st Century Leadership at St. Mary's College in California. I love France and as a Francophile, hope to live there someday and emerse myself in the language and culture! Have huge black male 7 year old IntCH Bouvier des Flandres 'Handsome Hutt' who is my companion and best buddy!
Corinne purchased this House in 1998
Why Corinne chose Tahoma
I rebuilt the original main chalet (Mt. Air House) that faces 4th Avenue keeping the original framing (beams), the roof and stone slab foundation is original. I then expanded to accomodate guests while adding a dining room, separate Fir Top Studio, 1.5 car garage, detailed breezeway, new decks enhancing the property including full scale landscaping, all over a period of six years. A true labor of love. After ten years, with all the positive feedback and interest I decided it was time to share it! Come on by - there is no place like it - great price too for the bundle of amenities, conveniences, quality and beauty of the property inside and out, central location, access to lake and the Homewood Ski Mountain just minutes away!
What makes this House unique
Chalet de Huttlinger won the 2009-2010 Garden Glove Award this year for Tahoe Cedars Tahoma, so the very large yard, lawn and blooming flower boxes and urns, sitting areas and having the various little squirrles, chipmunks, (sometimes Black Bears) and the many birds that sail in for a sip in the fountain are reminders of the beauty of nature all around just by stepping right outside the door or onto deck. You will love it!

Our 5-day stay at Chalet de Huttlinger was magical, and the process of renting with Corinne was seamless from start to finish. The snowy woods surrounding the home, impeccable interiors, and easy access to skiing, sledding, and sightseeing make the Chalet a true gem.
The Chalet is in a great location near Lake Tahoe and Highway 89, making it an easy home base for exploring Tahoe City and Squaw Valley/ Alpine Meadows. My 15 year-old daughter, her friend and I felt close enough to the action to take daily adventures but far enough away from the crowds to feel like we were in a private winter wonderland.
There was snowfall twice during our stay and the roads and driveway were immediately cleared.
The interior space of the Chalet is a dream. The breezeway separating the Fir Top Studio from the Mountain Air House is easily crossed yet offers total privacy for guests. It’s ideal for teenagers and parents or for two families staying together. There is a plush sectional sofa, a pull-out bed, and even a rollaway twin if you need extra sleeping space. There was plenty of cozy bedding stashed away near each room so set-up is a snap. The queen beds in each master bedroom are like nests you won’t want to leave.
We found the floor plan of the Mountain Air House brilliant. The upstairs queen bed is tucked away near a gorgeous outdoor deck. Because a stairway and small storage space/dresser separate the bed area from the overlook to the living room below, the master bedroom feels private and quiet. Sometimes as a family you want connecting space, but privacy as well. The set up of Chalet de Huttlinger navigates this balance perfectly.
Each space in the Chalet is unique and beautifully appointed. Little touches that make you feel pampered are everywhere — white waffle-knit bathrobes to keep you warm on your way to the outdoor spa, a lovingly stocked kitchen that makes cooking a joy, cozy throws and reading nooks, fresh nibbles from the local bakery and wine waiting upon arrival … Corinne’s attention to detail and her obvious experience making things easy for her guests really separate this property, and its owner, from others.
Corinne’s communication style is the perfect mix of accessibility and professionalism. She was available to answer any questions we had yet anticipated our needs and queries with her Chalet instruction binder, personal notes, and pre-arrival emails. We were free to just enjoy the property and relax. Sublime.
WOW thank you so much for the detailed, thoughtful and generous review. You were a great group and are welcome to return any time of course! Thank you again for the time and considerations you have shared, the feedback is invaluable.
We came in as a family of 5, and had a magical time. The cottage has lots of little details and well stocked kitchen, making it extremely comfortable. We especially enjoyed the Spa and the Fireplace. The only reason to hold back a Star is because the Master bedroom did not have a door, so privacy was compromised as our daughter was downstairs in the Sofabed. Other than that, everything went smooth. Corrine, the owner was very diligent with instructions etc..Everything "just worked" !
The Mountain Air House is 1200 square feet of comfort, ambiance and privacy. The couch pull out is downstairs and past the kitchen in the dining as advertised. This is an option and a convenient extra! Anyone in need of three bedrooms is encouraged to book another property.
The house is beautifully furnished.
The house was beautifully furnished and had several comfortable areas for sitting. The kitchen was well equipped for your cooking needs. The chalet was in close proximity to Sugar Pine Star Park where could take a lovely walk in the snow to the lake. An enchanting place
Amazing chalet! Perfect in every way!!!
This truly was an unforgettable experience! My family stayed at Chalet de Huttlinger for a couple of nights as a trip from the coast. Our teenage daughter loved the Fir Top Studio and we adored every detail of the main home. All in all, beautiful property, fully stocked, clean – great outside spa; numerous hiking trails and private beach is beyond convenient. Loved the neighborhood restaurants! Can't wait to come back for a ski getaway this winter!
Beautiful and Peaceful Getaway
Perfect location! Beautiful chalet!! Perfect for a get away to Tahoe! Highly recommend!!!!
Pristine, Comfortable, Dog friendly, Quiet.
Huttlinger Chalet FABULOUS! The home and grounds are impeccable, inviting and warm. Dog friendly! Had to quickly evacuate from the smoke in the Napa Valley fires, out Innkeeper was quick to assist to ensure a safe, clean beautiful stay. Super attentive in detail and safe arrival. I would recommend this quiet, two suite Chalet to anyone.
Guests of this property will enjoy our private Tahoma beach, pier and buoy field use.
