About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

This lovely carriage chalet style private residence is nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains located in the state of California, USA. Offering mountain elegance with European ambiance, this home has many of the conveniences of a four-star hotel with the coziness and privacy of a romantic hideaway - yet very reasonably priced. Located on Lake Tahoe’s Magical West Shore, between the North and South shores, Chalet de Huttlinger is proudly offered as a short term luxury rental where your experience can range from a bustling shopping spree, great dining, downhill ski action; or just stay in, relax, enjoy a fire, movie and a fabulous therapeutic spa.

Located in Tahoma, home of the 1960 Cross Country Ski Olympics, we welcome guests drawn to beautiful surroundings, stunning seasons, first class amenities and a desire for privacy. As guests of the chalet, you will enjoy association privileges including beach, pier and buoy field rental minutes away. This renowned vacation destination area offers unlimited enjoyment and relaxation year round including: snow skiing at Homewood with spectacular lake views (10 minutes door to chair), hiking, rafting, camping, biking, golfing, meditating, swimming, boating, water skiing, reading, bird watching, dancing, dining, and casino gaming, fishing and snorkeling – just minutes walking or driving from the property. Truly something for everyone and then some!

You will be amazed at the beaches, trails, rivers, lakes and many state parks to visit and explore just blocks from the property along and beyond West Lake Blvd (Highway 89). Easy drives north to world class skiing at Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley and Northstar-at-Tahoe; Sugar Pine State Park is a 5 minute walk from the breakfast table; Meeks Beach & Trailhead is five minutes south by car and offers a great beach, swimming, boat launch and hiking. Down the road about 20 minutes you will have pristine and stunning views of Emerald Bay and Vikingsholm State Park where you can enjoy a 2.2 mile hike to Eagle Falls (with many more accessible falls within 30 miles)...proceeding to Fallen Leaf Lake and Camp Richardson Resort. Casino gaming and night entertainment awaits you about 40 minutes into South Lake Tahoe from the chalet. One of the most beautiful views of the lake is this drive along 89 as you cruise from the west shore into the South Shore.

To ease your arrival, our well maintained interstate system, accessible Lake Tahoe Basin roads, well snow plowed neighborhood and lake level highway access, 45 minutes from Reno/Tahoe International Airport, a few hours from San Jose, San Francisco Bay, Sacramento airports, help make it a convenient visit to our “Tresor de lac Tahoe!” With a little planning on your end, we will strive to provide an exquisite experience and memorable stay. Can't wait to hear from you and book your reservation!

Warmly,

About Corinne

I served on the board of Tahoe Cedars Property Owners in Tahoma from 2000-2004 working on several programs. In driving the development of the West Shore - Best Shore and The West Shore is the Best Shore trademarks, this was done to formalize the long held affectionate name reference. The property owner's association can now use and market the taglines to promote the highly desired west shore with the intention for proceeds to go back into the community. The license plate frames that I developed - the original chrome and black license plate frames with the bear paw sold like hot cakes and 100% proceeds given to the Marie Sluchak Community Park. Many folks still ask for it! We have a 30 year established El Dorado County dog leashing and licensing ordinance - safety and well being of dogs and citizens is top of mind - we have been able to reduce the large packs of dogs that ran wild in the streets and yards without any consequence or control. Having supported bear protections obtaining funding for aversion efforts that encourage bears to go back into the forest without harm. As a champion of the west shore I know we can continue to improve the quality of life and understanding between part time, full time homeowners and tourists. As a banking and payments entreprenuer, have been in my own consulting practice for many years, working for card companies, banks and processors launching many Visa related programs and products. I finished graduate school in 2010 with a MA in 21st Century Leadership at St. Mary's College in California. I love France and as a Francophile, hope to live there someday and emerse myself in the language and culture! Have huge black male 7 year old IntCH Bouvier des Flandres 'Handsome Hutt' who is my companion and best buddy!

Corinne purchased this house in 1998

Why Corinne chose Lake Tahoe West Shore CA

I rebuilt the original main chalet (Mt. Air House) that faces 4th Avenue keeping the original framing (beams), the roof and stone slab foundation is original. I then expanded to accomodate guests while adding a dining room, separate Fir Top Studio, 1.5 car garage, detailed breezeway, new decks enhancing the property including full scale landscaping, all over a period of six years. A true labor of love. After ten years, with all the positive feedback and interest I decided it was time to share it! Come on by - there is no place like it - great price too for the bundle of amenities, conveniences, quality and beauty of the property inside and out, central location, access to lake and the Homewood Ski Mountain just minutes away!

What makes this house unique

Chalet de Huttlinger won the 2009-2010 Garden Glove Award this year for Tahoe Cedars Tahoma, so the very large yard, lawn and blooming flower boxes and urns, sitting areas and having the various little squirrles, chipmunks, (sometimes Black Bears) and the many birds that sail in for a sip in the fountain are reminders of the beauty of nature all around just by stepping right outside the door or onto deck. You will love it!

chalet huttlinger

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. The personal touches such as wine, cheese, crackers and delicious brownies. Also, gorgeous flowers in all the rooms. It was better than a 5 star hotel.

Beautiful and well appointed home on Tahoe's West Shore!

  • 5 of 5

We were lucky enough to find Chalet Huttlinger during a last minute hunt for space over the very busy 4th of July weekend. The home, the grounds and all of the amenities are top notch. Corrine was very communicative and has very clear instructions on how to work all of the key home features. The house has forced air in both units, the BBQ is like new, the hottub was spotless, the kitchen was outfitted with every tool you need and the grounds were spectacular. We will be back!

Quaint, cozy and super dog friendly!

  • 5 of 5

Corinne is an amazing host -- extremely thorough, accommodating, and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. She even ended up dog sitting for us while we went skiing! She was able to show us all the great paths to walk the dogs, and give us a thorough tour of the house. The chalet is clearly a work of love for her, and all the beautiful little touches she has built into this home emanates from every corner.

We traveled here with another couple and our 3 dogs (yes three!), which Corinne approved to our delight. She had wine and brownies waiting for the human guests, and cute dog treats for the dogs. The kitchen is small but we had everything needed to cook meals and enjoy them in the dining area. The chalet is a bit tight, but it has everything you need. And if I struggled to locate something, Corinne was a responsive text away. We also liked the layout because it allowed for more privacy -- the second bedrooms is essentially a separate house connected by a breezeway so both couple enjoyed maximum privacy. Very lovely stay, ideal for couples traveling together or families with older children.

Nice getaway spot. I will back.

  • 5 of 5

As a professional angler and guide, I stayed at the Fir Top Studio at the chalet as I was traveling through. I have seen many lodges and this one is gorgeous, warm, inviting, and the host is very accommodating and supportive. I will be back!

Sweet, Fully-Loaded Mountain Home

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely, fully renovated mountain home, redone in the style of a French country charmer. It's a perfect spot for two couples, as it has two master bedrooms, one in the main house and one above the garage-- but don't think after-thought, extra room- type above the garage. This suite is super sweet, with French doors leading to a small balcony, lovely bathroom with tub, wood-burning stove and even a small fridge and micro-wave. In the main house there is a pretty dining room with stone fireplace, a fully-loaded kitchen (and I mean FULLY, everything you could want to cook a fabulous meal is there!), a living room with wood-burning fireplace and the most comfy couch ever, a fully-stocked bathroom, with jacuzzi tub, and upstairs is the loft-style bedroom, with cozy down-comforter and French doors leading to a small deck with table and chairs for your morning coffee. The owner is delightful, and incredibly helpful. She is also super kind-- not sure if it was because this was the weekend before Valentine's Day or if she does this all the time, but she went out of her way to leave special touches everywhere throughout the house for us-- a bottle of wine and fresh roses in a vase in the dining room, delicious fresh brownies and a kind note on the kitchen table, fresh cream, cheese and eggs in the fridge, doggie treats for our Lab (awesome house if you have a dog!), and Valentine candies on our pillows. SO sweet! Oh, and to top it off, a perfectly yummy hot tub off the breezeway between the main house and the garage-- super after a day of skiing! We definitely recommend this lovely home and the owner is as lovely as the home!

Fantastic property! The best house we have ever stayed in when our dog could come too.

  • 5 of 5

I wish I were still there! We love traveling with our Labrador Retriever and she loves to hike, snowshoe and swim. This home feels like a home and is by far the cleanest, nicest and most comfortable house that we have been able to rent with the dog. We arrived late due to a storm and the lights were on, candles lit, wine and cheese waiting for us----ahhh. The week only became more relaxing from there. The house is in a great location, close to trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing and very close to Homewood ski mountain (which is great for kids). Everything in the home is just as described. I strongly recommend this home especially for couples or families with older kids as the bedrooms are in different parts of the house connected by a breezeway.
