Top Floor Mana Kai Maui Beachfront Condo with Full A/C. We have totally redone both bathrooms, and also install a new sliding room divider to go with an artist decorated condo. Free High Speed Internet. Breathtaking, above the palm trees, panoramic ocean views out to the islands, down entire Coastline and up to Haleakala Volcano! Amazing Whale-watching from our lanai! Mana Kai Maui sits out on a point at the northern end of Keawakapu beach. Keawakapu is consistently rated as one of the best beaches on Maui, and with a few steps you can feel its sand below your feet. You can stroll down a mile of this uncrowded Golden Sandy Beach, and experience the best Maui has to offer. The Mana Kai is written up in travel guides as the finest location with the best climate on all of Maui.

To see for yourself, do a google map satellite view of the Kihei coast. It won't allow you to hear the sound of waves that our condo provides, or sit out on our cradled from the wind top floor lanai, but that is only a click away. The Mana Kai Resort completed a 5 million dollar renovation to the entire complex in January of 2008, and those who pick our amazing location get exactly that. You do not add chance to the equation of where in the Mana Kai you find yourself. You have spent a lot of time and effort to get to Maui - make sure you treat yourself to the best you can find.

Fine top-rated Restaurant & Lounge on ground floor. Top of the Line Fine Deli open to 9 PM, travel desk, beauty parlor, Best snorkeling spot. Beautiful grounds, beautiful pool with waterfall, velvety lawn touching the beach. No more spectacular and romantic spot in the world than that of the Mana Kai Maui! It is truly a Paradise location, Heaven on Earth! The Mana Kai sits on the southern most part of Kihei, and actually relates more to Wailea in feel. What we do have over Wailea is proximity to the beach. Most of the places to stay in Wailea are up the hill, and, in at lot of cases, a long trudge to the water.

Our 2nd bedroom at the Mana Kai Maui(also designed to serve as a separate 'hotel unit' with its own entrance and total privacy) has a bar-height frig, microwave,high speed internet, small table with 2 chairs, air conditioning, mirrored closet doors, built-in cabinet for your coffeemaker, snacks, etc. It is newly remodeled with a beautiful picture window ocean view looking up the coastline towards Lahaina. Both bedrooms have king beds, bath with tub and shower.

The Mana Kai Maui sits at right angles to the water's edge out on a point looking back on the entire coastline. One of the great advantages of the Mana Kai's setting is that our lanai (balcony) is in the lee of the wind. It is one of those seemingly small details that looms large in the vacationer's ultimate enjoyment. A lanai facing into the wind will be much less pleasurable or utilized. Walk down the glorious sandy beach to the newest and most spectacular hotels on Maui. Close to shopping, markets (within a mile) golf, tennis, and all the conveniences you want when you come to Maui. About Greg and Kenlyn Stewart

This is a family business with Ken and Marilyn Erickson as the owners and our daughter and son in law, Kenlyn and Greg Stewart are operating the vacation rentals. They live in Knoxville Tennessee and Ken and I are in Sedona Arizona.

We discovered one of the most beautiful ocean front locations in the world. We were dazzled and are still amazed to this day. It is a top beachfront location on all of Maui and starts the 2 miles of pristine, uncrowded swimming, snorkeling beach that goes all across Wailea. The climate is the best on the island...less humid than other locations. Our top floor location above the palm trees gives an amazing panoramic view, and quiet times on the lanai. Being at the very south end of Kihei, and on the sand at the north end of the amazing Keawakapu Beach is as ideal as Maui gets. Just do a google map satellite Mana Kai view, and you will see why we chose this beautiful spot in Paradise.

What makes this condo unique

The stunning panoramic views, the miles of gorgeous sandy beach, the Mana Kai Resort complete with gourmet waterfront restaurant, lounge, Sushi Bar, Happy Hour plus a wonderful upscale Deli and country store. There also is a beauty parlor. The lobby area has a travel desk for all the Maui tours. The beautiful pool and waterfall are surrounded by tiki torches at night. Very romantic lovely atmosphere.

Our family had a wonderful time in unit 809 (top floor) at the Mana Kai Maui. We had the top floor view which is breathtaking. Another really nice thing was that we also had an ocean view from the 2nd bedroom and you have to be on the top floor to get that. The owners provided everything including high speed internet, 2 flat screen televisions and their remodeled kitchen had much more counter space than most all the other units. The master bed was incredible. Most comfortable bed we have ever slept on...all memory foam. Plus the Mana Kai surely has the most spectacular beachfront location anywhere on Maui. Around 2 miles of uncrowded gorgeous beach and the amenities at the Mana Kai were great. The beachfront restaurant was wonderful and we enjoyed Happy Hour with half price drinks and pu pu's at the bar. They also had a Shushi bar which we really enjoyed. There was a travel desk which was convenient for a couple of tours we chose. One of the real conveniences was the beautiful Deli which was open until 9:00 PM. A country store was also part of it and that was very handy. We surely would recommend this 809 unit and the helpfulness of the owners who thought of everything for us.

This is my third or fourth time staying here. The view, the location, and comfort are tops.

I purposely go to Maui and this condo during whale season. The unobstructed view of the bay and the whales from the lanai of the condo is precious. We take great long walks in the area and on the beach, snorkel on the reef just outside our door, delicious meals in the hotel restaurant and many others in the area, and easy access to all the activities and shopping of the island. I feel I’ve come home each time I return here.

Great location but the unit was poorly maintained.

We expected the unit to be somewhat tired and in need of updating as owner had informed us that they were planning a renovation shortly after our stay. His advising us of this was motivated by the poor one star review they received shortly before our arrival. This was fine and its need of renovation was expected. However we didn't anticipate that the home really lived like we were moving into a cluttered home of an old aunt. There was virtually no closet space other than a 3' hanging bar in the second room, a partial space in the main bedroom and a few 12" wide drawers. All other space was crammed full of a multitude of linens, sheets, and whoknowswhat. We suspect that these owners rarely visit this unit and these are leftovers from years gone by. Some cabinets were filled with old appliances. The shallow deck had many chairs, a table, a lawn chairs and a drying rack which left very little room to move around.

Even with the knowledge of the impending renovation, what we didn't expect and showed neglect by this owner is the poor condition of the appliances. The toaster was absolutely filthy and broken, which required unplugging to use a knife to remove the toast. The cheap coffee maker was also disgusting, totally stained with many years of brewing. A contentious owner would not have these in a rental. The lights above the stove were burnt out, the tap in the bathroom leaked and the rear bedroom air conditioning unit worked about half the time.

That said, the Mana Kai is a lovely place with a wonderful beach and clean premises. As much as the owner seemed like a very nice person, they are just not as engaged as we require when renting a home or they would have known about these simple to fix issues. We will stay at Mana Kai again, just not with this owner.

Owner's Response: I am really sorry your stay was not to your liking. As you have said we are in line for an upgrade. We always tell our renters, if something is amiss please let us know, and we will respond promptly to get it fixed. We take great pride in always responding quickly. Some of what was brought up is new to us. If known, we would have brought over a new toaster. The A/C was installed last year, and are the same high end units as installed in the upgraded condos. The A/C is checked out every six months. We had one complaint since installing it, and a repair person was there in the matter of hours. Again, we were not told about this problem. Our top floor lanai is the same size as all the others. Before this, no one has complained about the furniture, and folks do use the drying rack. We have four chairs to accommodate times when there four renters staying. The lawn chairs were probably left by former renters. We added a new Keurig coffee maker last month. We will now also replace the older drip one. Our closet space problem is the first time it was brought up. The renovated condos do have a bit more, but give up open floor area to get it. The linens are there because we are not part of the rental pool, so we do not offer maid service. That is the bad news. The good is that since we are not part of the pool, our renters get the condo they pick. That is not the case when renting from the rental pool. Renters usually just get whatever unit they are given. What we offer our renters is the top floor advantage. An amazing view above the palms. A less humid breeze through the condo. There really is a difference. Lack of clutter noise. Voices, restaurant, etc. What you do get to hear is the pure sound of the waves. No noise from the unit above. Right now, we feel that our unit has casual comfort. Great beds -new fridge -famous artist original art - new sofa etc. Our rate for a unit with this prime location is below what you would spend for a second floor one above the restaurant. We have renters that return year after year, and would have no other spot. The $200,000 renovation will be nice, but a new much higher rate will also have to reflect the expense. Right now, I am hoping that folks who rent are willing to take a more casual setting to get one of the best views that comes with the amazing Mana Kai experience. Again, I am sorry about the problems, but I can only help solve the ones I know about.

Location, location, location!

If you love listening to crashing waves and watching kids play in the sand all day you will love this spot! The sunset is celebrated every night with the blowing of a conch and the lighting of the torches. It is a magical place!

The condo itself was clean, the beds were very comfortable, the WiFi was strong, the TV has tons of channels and the AC was wonderful on a muggy afternoon. We were quite at home for the week. The “problems” with the condo that were brought up in another review were minor to us.

The owner was wonderful to work with and quite responsive to our request for a later check out. While the condo isn’t perfect our overall experience was top notch.

Needs updated and cleaned

There are almost 100 units at Mana Kai available to rent and between my extended family and I we have rented more than fifty over the years. This one ranks at the bottom of the list. The owners are nice enough but the rental fees are paid up front so finding our unit in this condition for a two week vacation was extremely frustrating. There is honestly not one positive I can list. This unit needs some major work and a lot of elbow grease.

Owner's Response: With the exception of one 4 star review, all the reviews we have received over the past four years are 5 star. The renter waited a few days after arrival to contact me. As it states on our info, if any problems are encountered, please call our cleaning crew immediately and they will come over to attend to anything that needs to be seen to. They are top notch, and have been with us for years. We are a one unit family owned business, and take pride in our care for those that stay with us. We have been with VRBO since they started, and this is our first review of this kind. Upon receiving the renters phone call, I immediately contacted her. When discussing her complaints I made it very clear that I would immediately do anything I could to address the problems. After this initial conversation, I left many phone messages and emails without getting any response in return. I feel I did all I could to help find a solution, but with no response there was nothing I could do. We had already scheduled a total unit tile floor acid wash with sealing, and a unit steam cleaning for our condo right after the renters departure. What makes our unit one of the more amazing in the complex is our top floor view. Almost all our renters remark about how the view and our comfortable unit made their vacation wonderful. We will be staying in the unit this September, and if anything needs to be made better - it will be done. We have always asked our vacationers to give us feedback on anything we could do to make their stay better. We do follow up on recommendations.
