Initial communication with the host was fantastic. However, after we checked in, we were disappointed with the unit itself, along with the lack of response from the host. The unit appears to have deteriorated from the initial photos posted, and is in need of some significant cleaning and repair. Our number one concern was what appears to be mold in the bedroom, and above the shower which is presumable what caused the misty smell. Also, there were gaps in the floor boards, and there was construction going on in the hallway of the condo early in the morning. This was especially uncomfortable as there are no blinds on the windows, and only thin curtains for privacy. The cleanliness was not up to par, as the vents were extremely dusted, the shower floor was sticky, and there were misc stains on some of the furniture. Even something as small as the hand soap being heavily diluted with water was disappointing. I am pregnant, so the possibility of mold and lack of cleanliness was concerning, which resulted in us leaving early. We messaged the host, and heard nothing for 48 hours, even with a follow up. I had to get VRBO customer service involved to get a response from the host. They did respond, but said that it was under review. After five days, I followed up, and it had been 3 days and I have still heard nothing from the host. This is by far the worst experience I have had with VRBO. This was supposed to be our “Babymoon” so this was incredibly disappointing.
