Vacation on your own private retreat. This charming, country log home sits on 4.5 acres of wooded property. The home has a new gourmet eat in kitchen with fireplace and a wall of windows with a view of nature. The great room has an enormous granite fireplace and plenty of space for you and your guests to relax. One bedroom is located on the first floor, the remaining three are on the second floor. The MBR is large and beautifully appointed including a fireplace and its own kitchenette.

The grounds are spectacular. Professionally landscaped gardens surround the pool and hot tub. The one of a kind swimming pool has been constructed with the granite ledge as its floor. You feel as if you are swimming in a naturally occurring mountain pool. There is a large lawn in the back yard for games and sports activities. Granite Lodge is old quarry property. The house is perched atop a hill and an old quarry pool, perfect for fishing and frogging, remains at the bottom. The long, winding uphill driveway lets you know you are entering your own private retreat.

About Hope Viviani

As a child every summer my family would vacation in a log cabin in the country. I have such wonderful memories of catching frogs and fireflies, swimming until goose bumps forced me out of the water and sitting around a fire toasting marshmallows, that when the opportunity came along for us to purchase our own log home nestled in the woods, my husband and I didn't have to think twice. At the time we were living on a parcel of land that was .10 of an acre. We were both looking for some privacy and as an avid gardener, I was excited about the opportunity to have room to really get my hands dirty. We purchased Granite Lodge and never looked back. The peace, serenity and joy it has brought us both can not be measured. Now we have gotten a bit older and are ready for something new. We are living on our boat and traveling the U.S. coastline. A new adventure for us and the opportunity to share all that we love about Granite Lodge with you.

Hope Viviani purchased this house in 1989

Why Hope Viviani chose Connecticut

We purchased Granite Lodge to live in as our primary home. I was employed in New Haven and my husband worked in the shoreline towns off of I95. Purchasing this property allowed us to have privacy, serenity and the home of our dreams with a commute of only 20 minutes. After upgrading, adding gardens and the pool friends and family started asking us if we would host their weddings, birthday parties and family reunions. Vacation requests followed shortly after and we began to use Granite Lodge as a vacation rental whenever we were traveling.

What makes this house unique

Granite Lodge is conveniently located just 20 minutes from the restaurants, museums, live theater and the many other cultural and family activities New Haven has to offer. Beach and boating are half that distance. Enjoy a Thimble Island cruise departing from neighboring Stony Creek or take a day trip to Mystic Aquarium or Mystic Seaport. Do you think you would like to try your hand at gambling? Both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos are within driving distance and offer gambling and celebrity entertainment. A day spent on the historic Essex steam train and river boat will be enjoyed by all. If shopping makes you smile it's a 20 minute trip down the shoreline to the outlet stores of Clinton Crossing. If staying close to home is your preference, just down the road is the quaint and historical town of Guilford. It is a family friendly town with beaches, parks, playgrounds, historic houses to tour, fine restaurants and fairs and events on the green throughout the summer. At Granite Lodge its all in your own backyard.

A magical Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I with three adultchildren and two partners, plus an adorable dog spent the Thanksgiving holiday at Granite Lodge in charming Guilford, CT. The spacious house was perfect for our Thanksgiving holiday, plenty of room to gather together and space for privacy. We absolutely loved the fabulous well-equipped kitchen with lots of counters to prepare food and visit. Hope Viviani was available and helpful with the very few questions we had about procedures. We all agreed that Granite Lodge provided the perfect setting for a splendid and memorable family gathering!

Granite Lodge was a wonderful place for our yearly Connecticut vacation!

  • 5 of 5

The beautiful grounds , swimming pool and hot tub in this treasure of a home nestled in the woods made for a truly relaxing vacation. We fully enjoyed entertaining and cooking for friends and family in the well equipped spacious kitchen. We were impressed with the immaculate and we mean immaculate accommodations! Hope was helpful with any questions. She was especially helpful in accommodating us with an extra day of lodging when we needed to attend to a family emergency with a relative living in the adjacent town. Her caring and compassion went beyond standard hosting duties. We have many good memories of the time spent with family and friends at this a gem of a property .We will definitely rent Granite Lodge in the future!!

Beautiful home, both inside and out!!

  • 5 of 5

My son just recently got married at Bill Miller's Castle, only a few minutes from the Granite Lodge. Our home is about 1.5 hours away so it was great to be able to stay close to the wedding venue. We had a large group of people over for the rehearsal dinner and there was plenty of room, both inside and out. We took full advantage of relaxing in the hot tub and taking a dip in the pool before the big day. After the wedding there was plenty of room for all those that did not want to take the long trip home. The grounds and home are beautiful. The pictures do not capture how unique the home truly is.

A Perfect Getaway House

  • 5 of 5

I stayed with a sizable group of young professionals--no pets, no children. The house was impeccable. The kitchen is amazing, the grounds are stunning, and the pool is absolutely lovely. Honestly, we couldn't have chosen a better spot for a long weekend away.

Serene and Scenic!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Hope, we loved being at Granite Lodge. You and Joe helped make it a fun and easy wedding day and vacation! The grounds. gardens, and the pool were especially welcome on those late July and early August days. Plenty of space, and everyone who visited commented on how beautiful and cool the house and area were. Some in the family were even planning a return trip for this Fall.

Loved it!

Best, Sheila and Jay

Another fabulous stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second family summer vacation to the Granite Lodge. With a party of 4 adults, 4 children, and 2 dogs.. we find that the house is more than enough room. There are plenty of things to do in the local area, but it is so hard to leave the lodge. Why would you want to? The pool is beautiful and refreshing. The hot tub and fire pit are great features too. The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens and woods to explore. If you do leave the lodge, Jacob's Beach is a very short drive away. This beach is perfect for families. It is never too crowded, and it is laid back. The Guilford green is a very cute shopping area too. Our hosts are always wonderful and very responsive to any questions or needs. This is a great place to build memories!
