About Hope Viviani

As a child every summer my family would vacation in a log cabin in the country. I have such wonderful memories of catching frogs and fireflies, swimming until goose bumps forced me out of the water and sitting around a fire toasting marshmallows, that when the opportunity came along for us to purchase our own log home nestled in the woods, my husband and I didn't have to think twice. At the time we were living on a parcel of land that was .10 of an acre. We were both looking for some privacy and as an avid gardener, I was excited about the opportunity to have room to really get my hands dirty. We purchased Granite Lodge and never looked back. The peace, serenity and joy it has brought us both can not be measured. Now we have gotten a bit older and are ready for something new. We are living on our boat and traveling the U.S. coastline. A new adventure for us and the opportunity to share all that we love about Granite Lodge with you.

Hope Viviani purchased this house in 1989

Why Hope Viviani chose Connecticut

We purchased Granite Lodge to live in as our primary home. I was employed in New Haven and my husband worked in the shoreline towns off of I95. Purchasing this property allowed us to have privacy, serenity and the home of our dreams with a commute of only 20 minutes. After upgrading, adding gardens and the pool friends and family started asking us if we would host their weddings, birthday parties and family reunions. Vacation requests followed shortly after and we began to use Granite Lodge as a vacation rental whenever we were traveling.

What makes this house unique

Granite Lodge is conveniently located just 20 minutes from the restaurants, museums, live theater and the many other cultural and family activities New Haven has to offer. Beach and boating are half that distance. Enjoy a Thimble Island cruise departing from neighboring Stony Creek or take a day trip to Mystic Aquarium or Mystic Seaport. Do you think you would like to try your hand at gambling? Both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos are within driving distance and offer gambling and celebrity entertainment. A day spent on the historic Essex steam train and river boat will be enjoyed by all. If shopping makes you smile it's a 20 minute trip down the shoreline to the outlet stores of Clinton Crossing. If staying close to home is your preference, just down the road is the quaint and historical town of Guilford. It is a family friendly town with beaches, parks, playgrounds, historic houses to tour, fine restaurants and fairs and events on the green throughout the summer. At Granite Lodge its all in your own backyard.

Another great trip

  • 5 of 5

This was our 3rd year staying at the Granite Lodge. We always have a very nice time. The pool and hot tub are a hit with the kids, the house is spacious, the location is close to beaches and restaurants, and the hosts are kind and responsive. If you are looking for a pet friendly, unique, and large house for several people, this is it!

Perfect destination for a family getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Granit Lodge exceeded our expectations! The property is large, beautifully landscaped and offers a variety to do! From beatiful gardens to the fire pit, to the great lawn for games - there is space to enjoy it all. And the pool? Amazing! I floated for hours, just enjoying the sun and sounds of nature around me. There is a large outdoor table, protected by impressive umbrellas, and we enjoyed all of our meals there. A few games of Bananagrams, too!

Inside the home is stunning! A perfect mix of modern and rustic. The detail put into every nook makes the house worth exploring. The home is spacious, plenty of different spacious rooms including a kitchen, living room, library, etc.

The home is also prepped with everything you'll need and more! Towels, linens, cookware, cleaning supplies, even a nice collection of spices were available for our use. Everything you'll need is new and modern as well!

The owners met us on the property and gave nice tour. They were attentive to quickly respond to any questions we had. Thank you both for making this trip a memory we will not forget.

We will definitely be back!
