The house is very clean and cozy and stocked well with everything you could need. The property is really beautiful, and Mary is a fantastic host. It’s close enough to some great hiking and restaurants but far enough for someone looking for peace and quiet. We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely do it again!
This is a lovely guest cottage. I was in the area so my son could attend a local music camp, and the house was a great base to return to in the evenings. Would definitely come back.
The house is spotless, beautiful, and in a private location.Every little detail is thoughtful in this fantastic place. The host is very kind and responsive.Truly magical place!
What a fantastic stay! The cottage was lovely and perfect for our small family (2 adults, 2 little kids). The grounds were beautiful, we enjoyed the fire pit, zipline, kayaking, and beautiful views. Mary was a fantastic host, and available as needed. It was the perfect the location for us to explore surrounding areas for the day, and very close to Warren, Rochester and Waitsfield for restaurants, swimming holes, farmer's markets, Sugarbush mountain, etc. Tranquil, relaxing vacation.
Secluded, cozy, and clean. Mary was a great host, both friendly and communicative. The view from the cottage was delightful, with plenty of trees, and the lake was beautiful. The kitchen had everything we needed - it was nice not to bring cooking supplies.
Mary was a lovely host and made sure we had everything we needed. The property was wonderful, with a fire pit, propane grill, hammock, kayaks, small pond, and more. While the town itself is small and remote, it doesn’t take too long to drive to nearby places. There are some great trails and amazing scenery nearby. Perfect for a weekend getaway or if you want to go “camping” without being outdoors.
We had a great time time staying at Mary’s Cottage. We skied at Sugarbush and celebrated New years. Cottage was 15 min from sugarbush mountain. The property was beautiful and the cottage was perfect for a family of four.
We enjoyed our stay for the most part. I would recommend replacing the futon as it was very uncomfortable to sit on. Was a little disappointed that I couldn't go fishing anywhere because of a drought in the area everything was kind of dried up. But overall things were very clean and it was a very quiet pleasant stay in a beautiful surrounding.
The cottage was perfect! Great location in the middle of the Green Mountains. The cottage included everything we needed. Very clean. Very peaceful which is what I was looking for on this trip. There was a guest manual that included everything we needed to know. Mary is very accommodating. The pond and yard were nice. Nice selection of yard games including kayaks and a zip line. Highly recommended!
Mary's cottage is fantastic. Sugarbush and Killington are 20 to 40 minutes away. Stowe and Okemo are about an hour. Waitsfield is about 20 minutes and has good shopping/resturaints. You'll definitely want 4WD in the winter.
Mary was an excellent host and her cottage is perfect. I wish I could live in it. I stayed for 2 months and Mary was extremely accommodating with everything I needed. She lent me snowshoes, provided extra parking spaces when I had friends, came over quickly when I needed help with anything, and was generally a great host and neighbor. It was a perfect solo ski rental, but allowed me to accommodate 2-5 friends for a weekend super comfortably. With 6 adults it may get tight after 2-3 days, but 4 adults would be very comfortable because the loft has some privacy. The loft would be great for kids. The cottage is insanely cute and you will not regret staying here. The kitchen has everything you need, all of the beds have plenty of linens, tons of towels, everything was clean, the stoves keep you warm, there are laundry machines, and a clean bathroom with good water pressure and hot water is always available. The cottage also has a cassette player with about 20 tapes, plus puzzles and books. Sugarbush is a 20 minute drive away, Killington is about 45. There are tons of things (book shop/bakeries/saunas) to explore year round, plus lots I want to come back for in the summer (swimming holes and hikes). I have AWD and snow tires and had no issues all winter except for a couple instances during early spring / mud season where the road the house is on was tricky. Snow tires are definitely needed for winter. Mary gave me some salt and provided a shovel.11/10 rental experience!
This cottage was just the right place for me and my boyfriend. The cottage was nice, clean, warm, and organized when we arrived. We had no issues during our stay and the home owner was more than nice and inviting. Small mishap with the washing machine at the very last minute but the home owner offered to dry it for us and ship it back to me! :D Best stay yet and I’d love to come back in the future.
This was the perfect little cottage for our girls trip to Vermont from the south to see the fall foliage! Very cozy, extremely clean, and tucked away for privacy. We did not spend much time here since we were exploring towns but on our last day we took a walk down to the pond on the property and it was stunning and so serene. Mary was so sweet and made sure upon our arrival that we were settled in. House had everything we needed to be comfortable. Will absolutely stay here again if we venture back up one day.
We stayed for 6 weeks enjoying the country wooded area. It had all the amenities to make our stay comfortable. Some might say it is out of the way, but that only added to the peace and quiet. We were only a 15 to 20 minute ride Rochester to the South or Warren, Sugarbush and the Mad River Valley to the North. Our hostess made us feel welcome.
The cottage was perfect. The location was peaceful. It wasn’t as warm during the day so we were unable to take a swim, but everything you needed was there. Check-in is as a breeze. The kitchen was fully stocked with any dishes you may need. The stove is gas which was wonderful to cook on. On the back porch there is a gas grill along with seating. You will not need anything for the fire pit, she has it all there for you. She has double filtered well water and it is delicious tasting water. I’m a huge spring water fan and this water was just as good!

A little bit of paradise
My family of four recently stayed at the cottage and we had a wonderful time. Mary is a very gracious hostess and the cottage was the perfect get-away choice. We swam in the pond, played badmitton, and completely enjoyed the peace & quiet. Mary has a little slice of paradise here and I am glad that she chooses to share it. The cottage is very centrally located in the Mad River Valley and all it has to offer in summer: swimming, biking, hiking, and river tubing. There are plenty of great restaurants featuring local grown food, cute shops, and a small dinner/movie theater nearby. It is also a short ride to Montpelier and Burlington. We would consider coming back during the winter for the skiing. I'm sure it is wonderful then too! Great vacation all around. Thanks Mary!!!

Great place to experience Vermont!
My husband and I along with our 1 year old daughter stayed at Mary’s cottage in the middle of July. The property is absolutely beautiful and relaxing. The pond was a great area to come down to in the morning and afternoons to have snacks and let our little one float at the pond’s edge. Mary recommended two great hiking trails that would be easy for our family. Would highly recommend Texas Falls and the Robert Frost trail for families. Great picnic areas at both as well. We also drove into Burlington for the day. We took a different drive there and back. Amazing scenic views! Mary also made a great recommendation for a family owned restaurant, American Flatbread. Fun environment and great food! The vacation was exactly what we were looking for. Time away from “regular life” and just getting to relax. It was a great way to experience Vermont since neither of us have ever been there. Mary was such a gracious host and would kindly check in on us to see if we needed anything. There were a couple minor issues at the cottage that Mary immediately addressed. Would highly recommend this place as your next vacation!

About the host
Hosted by Mary Falcon
Hi—For the past two years I rented my guest cottage to two dear friends but now I'm back on VRBO! Here's the story of who I am and how I—a born and bred New Yorker—ended up in Vermont. To briefly escape the hubbub of New York in 2002, I spent two weeks with my best cousin in Vermont. For months after I returned to NY I dreamed of living in Vermont. A year later, thanks to the Internet, I was able to make my dream come true. I bought the property right next door to my cousins place and moved to Vermont for good. A 25-year veteran of the higher education publishing industry, I no longer have to live where the company I work for is located. I telecommute.
Why they chose this property
I love participating in the small town life of Granville. And I love it up here by my lake —clear and blue in summer, iced over in winter—in the fresh Vermont air, among the snow covered mountains and hiking trails. But what I love most about my life here is that I can work and vacation in the same place. In the summer I can swim in my private secluded lake, work in my vegetable and flower gardens, go for long walks, hang out with my cousin and her horses, and still put in a respectable day’s work at the computer. I work longer hours in the winter, but still get plenty of exercise walking, show shoeing, and snow shoveling. My son and his family love it here in summer, but even more in winter as they are avid skiers. So I always seem to have family visits on the horizon.
What makes this property unique
In the picturesque area of Granville, Vermont, you'll find an amazing escape surrounded by natural beauty. If a peaceful and secluded retreat is the vibe you want for your vacation, this is the perfect place to be. Nearby towns like Rochester and Waitsfield provide convenient access to a variety of shops and eateries, allowing my guests to explore local culture and cuisine. Whether you're craving outdoor adventures or a relaxing getaway, Granville and its neighboring towns offer the best blend of serenity and convenience for a memorable stay.
