Why Doug Paul chose Sea Ranch
Sea Ranch is one of the few places where I totally relax and drop all of the 'every day' issues that consume so much of our energy and thoughts. To me it is an escape to recharge one's batteries.

My Husband and I stayed at Horizon in Sea Ranch for the first week of October to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We have never stayed in such a well equipped and truly beautiful home. Nothing was lacking! Doug was fantastic at communicating with us before and during our stay. He even reserved tickets for us for a play at the historic Sea Ranch barn. There is hiking literally right out the door. The view is stunning and the home is very peaceful and private. Doug has made sure there are instructions for everything including a list of items you may forget when departing for home. We highly recommend this home for anyone wanting a rejuvenating nature experience.

Since we cannot be at Horizon all the time, it gives us pleasure to share it with others, rather than have it sit empty. We also meet lots of great people. Thanks Stacie, for the kind words, we are happy you found it to your liking!

Sea Ranch with a view
The objective of our trip was to get away from everything and just enjoy each other. This location met all of our expectations.
sheets not included
The rather substantial hidden fee does not include sheets. You are expected to bring your own sheets. You may rent them for $35. I've traveled to 4 continents and never have I been expected to bring my own sheets. Everything else was very nice, kitchen extremely well appointed. I gave the location 4 stars as I didn't realize it was on the other side of Highway 1 but that is probably my error.
Allowing guests to do their own cleaning and provide sheets and towels is one way to keep the cost down to the renter. It is also "the way it has always been done" at The Sea Ranch, although with all the online activity that tradition is likely being lost. The VRBO description for Horizon, as well as the photos, documents the steller hillside view as well as location, plus items like the option to bring your own linen. I am happy this guest wrote about these issues as one added way for prospective guests to learn the details about Horizon!
A lovely home
We had a great stay I hope we can return soon
We had a relaxing, comfortable stay at Horizon. The view was spectacular, home was clean and well equipped, the weather was sunny, with an unbelievable clear night sky. It was just what we needed.
The Sea Ranch is a private community established in the 1960s with the underlying philosophy of 'living lightly on the land.' The homes nestle into the landscape and must be of earth colors. Views are maximized, and structures are clustered, leaving a maximum of open space. Just 5 miles north is the lumber town of Gualala, which has been transformed into a village with services for any needs. The Sea Ranch property includes trails thru meadows and forests in addition to the bluff trails and beaches. There are three recreation centers, and a historic barn.
Other Activities: wildlife viewing, basketball, shopping, kayaking
