Host is amazing, lovely to deal with and very helpful. Cottage is perfect to relax as if you’re home, quiet neighborhood, easy access to interstates and close to Berkeley.
Everything was wonderful!
Thank you so much for a great getaway :)
Superb spot in Berkeley
Highly recommend this charming cottage in a very convenient location. Close to BART station where you can park and ride BART into the city (far superior to driving). Close to Berkeley campus, close to Tilden Park which offers wonderful hiking. The cottage itself is clean and has all the comforts of home, well stocked kitchen, dishwasher, gas range, just very comfortable overall. The garden is delightful. Will definitely stay here again.
Previous reviews have well enumerated the positive features that make this cottage worth your careful consideration. We have been repeat renters of this property over several years. Don’t let pictures lead you to think this is a garage conversion. It is not. This cottage was newly constructed with barn doors and only might appear as a former garage to meet zoning requirements. Recent improvements to the property include the landscaping. The hosts maintain a carefully chosen garden in front of the house and surrounding the cottage. Much care has been taken to find plants that can most thrive in the unpredictable Berkeley climate. Nearby Restaurant Row on Solano Avenue has also seen some changes. The competition for the meal dollar is fierce so standards remain high. Over the years most of the best ones have survived but a few are new, replacing locations that have fallen to changing tastes and aggressive landlords. Still, you can’t go wrong on Solano. While this cottage has a full assortment of kitchen appliances – no dorm refrigerators or counter top induction hot plates here – and two large Safeway Supermarkets a short walk away that help make cottage meals easy to prepare, why would you when a short walk away is a wide assortment of international cuisines. Reserve this cottage and enjoy!
True Home Away from Home
The best of the best! Spacious, well kept, clean, beauftiful cottage in excellent neighborhood! Thank you!
The cottage is lovely, comfortable & well appointed with everything you might need. Location is great, and Joan is helpful & accommodating! This is our third stay here & we plan to return.
Berkeley sits across the bay from San Francisco which is easily accessible by car, bus, BART or ferry. Just to the north is the beautiful Napa Valley with is world class wineries, to the east are Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National park for hiking, skiing and camping and to the south lie the Monterey Bay with its wonderful aquarium and Carmel. In the San Francisco Bay there is boating, fishing and windsurfing. Marin county, to the north-east has great hiking trails and beaches.
Other Activities: dancing, opera, symphony, film festivals, rock climbing
Golf: Golf is enjoyed in Tilden Park, a fifteen minute drive from the cottage.
