Amazing House, Excellent Price, Great Location - Very Pleased!

  • 5 of 5

All of the positive things that were said in the past about La Casa Azul still hold true. This house was perfect for our family of 6. We were all comfortable with the windows open during the day, and really enjoyed the cold AC at night. The screened porch was amazing, and we enjoyed it while the kids watched American TV inside. The kitchen had everything we needed and the appliances worked perfectly. The golf cart was convenient and fun. The beach chairs were great, and plenty of beach towels were provided. The yard was freshly cut and there were lots of beautiful flowers. I would definitely rent La Casa Azul again – it is an incredible value for the money. I would even love to live there someday! Here are my tips to make your visit even more enjoyable: Bring cash in small bills with no tears, writing or marks. When you leave the airport, stop at Eldon’s to buy groceries. Buy air freshener – the house and bathrooms have a slight smell from the humidity and plumbing. Buy lunch meat in the deli department – it is cheaper and fresher than prepackaged. Maybe buy extra toilet paper and ice, depending on how much your family uses. Buy the local brands instead of the American brands. Tip the bag boys. They wear a uniform, but work only for tips ($1 each, or 20L is good). As soon as you arrive at La Casa Azul, make sure that you can connect to the WiFi and that the provided cell phone is working so that you can get back in touch with Marco if you need to (do both of these BEFORE he leaves). Be sure to check the doorknobs when you go out on the porch. They will always open from the inside, but may be locked on the outside. When you get to the beach, turn left and start walking. Bananarama has something family friendly going on every night, and free WiFi if you buy food or drinks. The farther you go down the beach, the closer the reef is to the shore. Snorkel West Bay. Bring a Pacsafe Travelsafe to keep your valuables in at the beach – just lock it on to your beach chair or one of the lifeguard stands. Tell the vendors on the beach “No, thank you” and they will leave you alone. Buy from the Banana Donut guy. Eat the lionfish (an invasive species, absolutely delicious, and Blue Bahia Beach Grill has all you can eat at on Fridays). Dive with Blue Island Divers. Rent a vehicle from Ramirez Renta Car. Visit Daniel Johnson’s Money and Sloth Hangout. Tip everyone who provides a service for you if they do a good job. Enjoy your stay at La Casa Azul!

Easily best overall value on Roatan

  • 5 of 5

As a seasoned vacationer to Roatan and West Bay, I have to believe it's hard to beat this value. The home itself is beautifully laid out, appointed and maintained. Hardwood floors throughout, super comfortable beds, and a fully screened in wraparound deck (best feature in my opinion). It's a short walk or gas powered golf cart ride to the best beach in Roatan. The bedrooms are each roomy with their own island charm. For anyone who's accustomed to traveling to more 'developed' tropical destinations there are a couple things to keep in mind. First, the power goes out regularly in Roatan. Second, it's nice to stay on the beach, but at this price, plan to live with half the space. This place is a 2 minute walk from the best beach on the island. We were warmly greeted by a couple who claimed to be the new property managers. Later they became acquaintances and we were thrilled to have them as local friends. This is a great place and an awesome value!

A vacation of a lifetime

  • 5 of 5

La Casa Azul provided me with the vacation of a lifetime! When I went to Roatan it was my first time ever leaving the US. I was a little nervous at first, but this beautiful house made me feel as though I found my home away from home! It was a short walk (or golf cart ride) to the beach where I found AMAZING snorkeling, a large assortment of delicious restaurants, and a great place walk or lay out and soak up some rays! You can also walk to Gumbalimba Park where you can learn all about the island of Roatan and meet some of their wildlife up close! We had the opportunity to hold Macaws and play with some monkeys. This vacation was simply amazing and La Casa Azul provides you with everything you need to simply relax and take in this BEAUTIFUL island! I will definitely be going back!

Been four times and haven't been disappointed!

  • 5 of 5

La casa azul was very spacious and had great amenities. The gas stove and grill were great for cooking meals. The beach is a short walk away (with a complementary golf cart) and gives access to dozens of restaurants and activities. All of the rooms have climate control for when it gets hot. Overall, the house was in great shape and very clean and you can tell that the new management really cares. I would recommend it to anyone.

La Casa Azul

  • 5 of 5

This past January was my first trip to the island, and like mentioned in previous posts, I had no idea what to expect. I was a little nervous before getting to the island, but as soon as I got to the house, all of my nerves started to subside. Just from seeing the house outside, it was clear that I was going to enjoy my stay. The house has a screened porch that wraps around the house, and also includes chairs, a table, as well as little sections for each room. This made even the rainy days enjoyable. We were able to sit outside and take in what was around us from breakfast to evening. Inside it only got better. The kitchen, dining, and living room area were spacious, homey, clean, as well as very high quality. The kitchen included everything we needed, as well as fresh water! Each room has a large bed, dresser, end table, and a fan, which made my stay very comfortable. Along with the rooms being very big and having everything I needed, they all had their own bathroom. The house itself is in a PERFECT location. It made daytime and evening activities very convenient. The beach was a short walk away (made even shorter with the use of the golf cart), and made it easy to spend the day down there, as well as grab some dinner, or spend our evening at one of the many restaurants on the beach. I can honestly say that this past trip will not be my last to the island, and I would absolutely love to stay at this property again. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay somewhere homey, well-maintained, clean, and spacious.

Why Ken Wallace & Sandy Powell-Trollop chose West Bay

We first came to Roatan in 2005 and fell in love with the island as does everyone we meet on the island. We thought it was time to start looking for a home to call our own so in March of 2009 we started to look for property and in May we closed on the house we now call La Casa Azul. Over the next few months we added a new bedroom 2 bathrooms and completely refinished everything inside and out with all new plumbing and lighting fixtures to new furniture and new appliances.
