Guestbook comments from the manager

We loved the Bungalow and the property Tulemar. The staff was excellent, the beach beautiful, and the bungalow very nice. We saw lots of wildlife on the property, more than in the National Park. We plan on going back.

This place is the best! The monkeys were teasing me but everyone else saw them and many sloths! The unit is clean and very cool with the windows all the way around. I loved being immersed in nature. Attentive and great staff. Highly recommend staying here. Food and pools were also fabulous! Views incredible.

Tulemar is paradise on earth

  • 4 of 5

The resort is something to behold. Billion dollar views of the Pacific, sunsets, and many up close encounters with wildlife (sloths, monkeys, toucans, mot mot) in their natural setting. Staff are laid back and genuinely helpful. Several decent restaurants and cafes within a 5 min walk.

The bungalow itself is authentic and a bit rustic with 360 degree views. Well located close to two good pools and the restaurant, the bungalow is just a shuttle away or 15 min trek to the private beach. The place is showing its age, circa 1980s, with some shower leaks into the closet, a nonworking safe, a brutal shower head, lots of visiting ants, but it is easy to look past the little things while you are situated within the tropical grounds of paradise.

Good overall value as it's the lowest price entry into Tulemar. You forego a balcony and the very attentive concierge services that others at Tulemar brag about, but no biggie. Would return.

Our family of 5 stayed in bungalow 111 at Tulemar and we absolutely loved it! It has a fabulous view of the ocean and had plenty of room for our teenagers/ourselves. The resort itself is stunning! The wildlife is amazing and the private beach is beautiful. There were plenty of activities for us right in the Manuel Antonio area including surfing lessons, offshore and inshore fishing, zip lining, and who could forget the National Park! Our concierge Frank arranged all of our activities for us and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay including groceries upon our arrival. The staff at Tulemar are some of the nicest people we have ever met and overall we felt very safe walking or taking a taxi all around Manuel Antonio and Quepos. There are many excellent restaurants (with views to die for) within walking distance. One of our favourite vacations EVER! Thank you!!!

Exceeded our expectations in every way

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 10 year old daughter and 7 year old son and I just came home from 4 nights at this Tulemar Bungalow and are still glowing from our experience. What a gem! We can not recommend it highly enough and can not wait to return!

The bungalow is simple, and provides all that is needed for a comfortable stay. It is conveniently located just a few doors down from the cafe and adjacent pool, and right around the corner from the wonderful family pool -- each with the most outstanding views.

Confession: our first impression walking into the bungalow was that we wished we had a more expansive ocean view, as some of the others do, rather than being mostly surrounded in trees. We were also initially disappointed to hear that we had to call a shuttle to go to the beach -- as our adventurous crew always prefers a hike over car travel. HOWEVER, each of these impressions was washed away within the first few hours of our stay. The bungalow has a beautifully framed and stunning view of the ocean and the lush trees provided a front seat viewing of the most amazing wild-life (Capuchin, toucan, iguana, mot-mot just right outside the window). Honestly, the view from this bungalow window out-did our hike in the Manuel Antonio forest in animal count -- the surrounding trees made it possible! We also quickly discovered that a pleasant walk through the lower bungalow path and then through to the south beach trail (a beautiful wooded hike with a lovely water fall), was the ideal way to walk to the beach. You certainly get your exercise coming back up the hill but we appreciated that as well.

The Tulamar resort as a whole is simply outstanding! It is a nice sized area of land relative to the number of people that the resort accommodates so we never felt crowed in any way -- in fact we felt like we had the place to ourselves, which was awesome The whole area is well designed with incredible framed views, the private beach is stunning, the restaurant delicious and the staff outstanding. There are several great restaurants in walking distance just outside the resort -- honestly the quality of the food and restaurants exceeded our expectations.

One of the most impressive things about Tulemar for us was that it's lush 33 acres also serve as a sloth sanctuary. Our sloth tour, from one of the on-site sloth specialists, was highly impressive. We observed 9 sloths on our tour, including one 4 feet away at eye level. Such a treat!

Excellent Christmas vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My review is just the icing on the cake since there have been so many excellent reviews already. Our family stayed in bungalow 111 during this Christmas holiday. Everything was wonderful. The bungalow is very spacious for us, we have 2 adults and one teen. We spent time enjoying the private beach, pools and walking the trail after we came back from the day tours. The resort itself has lots of monkeys, hanging/flying between the trees. And we saw at least three sloths, one boa and one toucan when we joined the non-profit sloth institution tour walking the trail to the beach inside Tulemar. This is home for lots of animals and birds. And one iguana always hung out in front of our bungalow, we named it "Big Joe" because there was a small one seen near our bungalow sometimes. It's a great Costa Rica forest experience while staying here.

Our concierge Frank was fantastic! He reserved & arranged perfect tours for us and answered all questions. We appreciated he reserved small group tours that were not more than 6 people. The front desk and all staffs were very friendly and helpful as well.

The resort location is convenient. At least three supermarkets and several restaurants are close by within walking distance. And the famous coffee shop Milagro is just across the street.

Suggestions for the bungalow: install a retractable clothesline inside the shower. Then guests can rinse the swimsuits and hang dry for next day.
