We have an absolutely ideal location... amazing views and convenience too.
AND, we just completed a MAJOR update and will have the home entirely renovated. So be prepared to enjoy many new improvements - hard wood floors, kitchen with granite counter tops, new windows, updated private bedroom/bathroom suites through out, new furniture, game room with pool table, ping pong table and more....
Start your days watching the gorgeous sunrise on Electric Peak (one of the highest mountains in Yellowstone National Park) right from the breakfast table with the gentle sounds of the Yellowstone River flowing by the property. Our vacation rental home is perched above the Yellowstone River with an expansive view overlooking Yellowstone National Park. Wildlife abounds! Watch eagles, osprey and ravens soar over the River. From the dining room or deck off the back, we've watched a wolf pack pursue and take down a pronghorn, eagles catching fish in the river, bison herds grazing, elk swimming across the river and a pronghorn give birth to twins! You never know what you may see - it can be utterly amazing wildlife encounters or simply the awe inspiring beauty of the mountains and river. Our view is south facing, so there's lots of sunlight to soak in all day long. At the end of the day, grill in the yard and let the kids play on the swing set or just sit on the deck while you watch the sunset reflections on the river and enjoy the 'big sky' views of Montana and Yellowstone.
The convenience of our property will make your vacation feel simplified and relaxed. You can walk to the grocery store, restaurants, ice cream and pizza too...check out the bookstore, gift shops or even white water rafting outfitters where they'll 'suit you up' and take you rafting down the river, right by your vacation home! Elk River Art Studio and Gallery is right next door (that's us!), where we create art inspired by the landscape and animals you'll experience during your trip to Yellowstone. A little further, the Roosevelt Arch at the northern entrance to Yellowstone National Park is just a mile away. And just a couple miles from there, you can soak in the Boiling River - the hot springs in Yellowstone Park. There's A LOT to experience in Yellowstone (we certainly love it!) and we'd be happy to point you in the right direction and help make it a vacation of a lifetime for you.

My husband and I are both artists, living, working and raising 2 children, at the edge of Yellowstone. We enjoy living in the midst of wildlife, surrounded by the beauty of the natural world - and take advantage of our Yellowstone 'back yard' (literally!) every chance we get. I paint outside in Yellowstone often and in our 'spare time', we hike, cross country ski, canoe and kayak.
Shirl Ireland purchased this house in 2006
We literally searched for years looking for 'the spot'. We are artists fortunate enough to live where ever we'd like. Our property is on the Yellowstone River overlooking Yellowstone National Park. We lived in this home while we built our new studio and gallery on the property next door. The mountain and river views are gorgeous and we're at the edge of a wonderful, friendly small town. We can walk to the grocery store and Yellowstone National Park too! Hiking, skiing and soaking in the Hot Springs are just minutes away. Plus, we're close enough to take advantage of Livingston and Bozeman, MT - a couple great towns with good vibes and bigger amenities. You can get to lots of art, outdoor activities and shopping after a beautiful drive up Paradise Valley (aptly named). That's why we call our spot 'the center of the universe.'
Not too many places on this Earth have what we have. How many people can watch a wolf pack hunt, eagles and osprey catch fish, bison herds graze, elk swim and twin pronghorns born - right from their dining room window? We watch Electric Peak (one of the highest mountains in Yellowstone Park) as the sun rises it turns a beautiful 'morning pink' with the soft sounds of the river in the background. We can watch the sun set and turn the river to a ribbon of orange, then at night, with the moon above, the river again comes alive and sparkles with the moons reflection. How could we want anymore?
The location is fantastic! Shirl and Jon were very attentive to all needs. Thanks again for great vacation!
Nice and clean living places good lake view love it！！！
This house has a unique modern design with western rustic flair. The best feature is that each bedroom has its own bathroom ( all beautifully designed ) making if very comfortable for a group of adults. My husband who was a gourmet chef, loved the kitchen. It was spacious and allowed 2 of us to work at the same time without bumping into each other. The living and dining area, with a porch, is super and has a big dining table. My favorite was the back bedrooms face the river, and you can fall asleep to the flow of the river. The game room had a lot to offer, although we did not use it much. The house’s location is so perfect , right next to the Yellowstone Park Gate, and you could walk to the town. We would love to come back, and we thank the owner Shirl, who was really nice and gracious. Our group was adults between 35-55, from Germany, US and Czech Republic and we all agreed it was just the perfect vacation in the perfect house.
We were a party of 13 (9 adults aged from 37-69), 4 children, 8-14) and this was the perfect spot for our Yellowstone vacation. Initially, this house was over our budget but several features caused us to give it serious consideration, and we are so pleased we did. As a party of mostly adults (who are no longer in their 20's!), the size of the beds is always a concern. This home has a king and 4 queen beds! The second feature to give us pause was the dining table that seats 12. An important part of our vacations is dining together and playing cards and games. This table was a big reason we booked the home (and with a view of the mountains and the river, it was ideal)!
The concerns before arriving.....The location....I was worried about it being on the main road (across from hotels, restaurants); I thought it may be noisy or busy. Cleanliness.....pictures usually look nice, but we had a little issue with the last place we booked, so the jury would be out until we arrived. Neither of these concerns were issues in the least! Although the home was located on the main "drag", the traffic is relatively light through the town and the sound of the river mostly drowned out the little traffic noise that did occur. The location was actually a plus as access to the park, market and restaurants/shops was incredibly convenient. And the home was clean! I believe we all felt that we could "put our feet up" and get comfortable!
The perks.... The kitchen was a beautiful open concept area with upgraded appliances and was well stocked - a welcome perk when you're cooking for a crowd. Each bathroom as each had it's own personality and individual touches; the sinks are fabulous ! The basement was replete with pool table and ping pong (which we love!) to add a little fun to our downtime away from the park. Lastly, the view....simply magnificent!
The little things....a pound of coffee (from a MT roaster!) was provided, there was toilet paper, laundry soap, MT shaped soaps in each bathroom, and left over pantry items for our use. These little things were simply lovely and thoughtful.
The owners, John and Shirl.....Shirl and her son greeted us and gave us a tour of the house when we arrived. John gave us great recommendations for fishing, hiking and wildlife watching. They put their hearts into this place and it shows. If you get a chance, check out their studio (or stay there instead!).
Would definitely return here - loved it!
Our two families had a wonderful stay at this vacation rental. It is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures. Once you are in the home, you don't even realize you are in the small town of Gardiner. The focus of the home's windows is the beautiful view into Yellowstone park. We enjoyed watching a mother elk and her calf, the rafters on the river and the sun play on the mountains at different times of day. Other delighters of this home were the comfy bedding and mattresses, plenty of dishes so that if one meal is in the dishwasher you still have clean plates and glasses. The owners were more than gracious with any questions we had. Ask them where to see the wildlife.
We were a party of 6 (3 couples aged between 34-69) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this magnificent property. Shirl was great to communicate with before and during our stay. The home is breathtakingly beautiful with stunning views of yellowstone park. The beds are very comfortable, fully equipped kitchen and a fun sports room downstairs (billiards and table tennis etc). Some 5-10 minute drive to the northern entrance to Yellowstone, and for memorial weekend we didn't find there were very long cues to get in at all. We would come back in a heart beat. Highly recommend this rental.
Hot Springs - Boiling River, a natural hot springs feature in Yellowstone National Park is just 2 miles away and Chico Hot Springs resort with fine dining is a scenic 30 minute drive, and Photography...right from the deck!
