Overview

About the property

Studio, Studio + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 3)

The Treehouse is on one acre in Carmel Valley overlooking Carmel Valley Village and the Carmel River. It is nestled in an old oak forest with lots of light, sun and views– beyond the fog belt of the coast yet under 20 minutes from Carmel.

My Artist's Treehouse and Artist's Library couple-size apartments are at the top of the most popular in the Carmel/Monterey Peninsula area. Experience them.

A wide staircase winds up to the deck with table and seating (smoking allowed outside, only) and the double doors to the apartment. The all redwood building has a peaked, open beam, tongue and groove ceiling with cathedral-shaped stained glass windows on each end and screened windows throughout.

Carpeted with oak parquet in the full kitchen and tile in the full bath (shower)– the effect is light and lovely! Extremely well insulated, the Treehouse has a gas wall heater; in summer the ocean breezes come in early afternoon to cool and the days are FOG FREE.

Parking is off street in a covered carport behind full fencing and an electric gate. Addit covered parking for a second car by request.

About Desiree

I'm a full time artist and have the best art studio, here, for creating and selling my ShellShades across the United States. But I also love to garden and especially love to water my garden– a guilty and expensive pleasure in CA :-( Nonetheless, this home and property have allowed me to work, play and create the perfect refuge. I think you'll enjoy it, too. Desiree

Desiree purchased this studio in 1982

Why Desiree chose Carmel Valley

I love the outdoors and wildlife. Between here and the 3 minutes to the 'Village' watch out for deer and turkeys on the road. At the 'Treehouse' we also have turkeys and quail, gray fox, raccoons, squirrels, opossum and birdsong. At night you can hear the river running in the canyon below and birds singing a morning wake-up. Night skies are exceptionally starry and we are fortunate with our clean air to view the Milky Way most nights.

What makes this studio unique

–MONTEREY BAY AQUARIUM is the most popular attraction in Monterey County.

–WINE TASTING is big here because we have such an excellent wine growing appelation– ask me about the 20+ Tasting Rooms within 1 mile of the Treehouse.

–WILD TURKEYS and deer heavily populate the area and hiking trails thread throughout Carmel, Carmel Valley and Big Sur.

–FIND A MYSTERY book in the collection and read it while you're here.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Desiree, thank you so very much for sharing your lovely space. The Treehouse is beautifully designed: the low ceilings over the bed and kitchen make it feel cozy while tall windows (the wisteria stained glass is amazing) make the space light filled and open.

Your shell lamps combine nature and light so well and I love, love, love that little chair in the corner.

We have stayed in many vacation rentals– yours by far is the most comfortable and well designed.

We had a very relaxing stay- watched the marine layer roll in just south of Point Lobos (the park was packed and we had been before so skipped it) then went for a sunny hike in Garland. Wine tasting in town was fun. Thanks for the Aquarium passes. We visited Pacific Grove- first time back there since we first came to California 33 years ago so a little walk down memory lane.

Again, thanks so much–

Cozy stay

  • 4 of 5

We spent two nights at the Treehouse Studio and really enjoyed our stay. We were looking for a launching point for Carmel and Big Sur and we really enjoyed the peacefulness here. It was great to wake up to the quiet of the valley with the sun beaming in through the windows. Thank you for providing a cozy place to rest on our stay!

Absolute 10/10

  • 5 of 5

This place is absolutely amazing. The views from the treehouse balcony are incredible and overlook the hills that surround Carmel Valley. The place itself was very well kept and extremely cozy for 2 people. Great little kitchen that has everything you might need for a weekend getaway. The treehouse itself is a part of an enclosed property with a gate at the front (Desiree gives you a garage door opener to open and close the gate upon your arrival) so you have that private feeling. There is also 2 Monterey Bay Aquarium passes that you can use as you please.

The town is a 5 minute drive away and has a bunch of little wineries and restaurants (We went to Roux and had a very nice night- great food, wine & atmosphere). About an hour drive to Big Sur which I would also HIGHLY recommend and about 20 mintues to Carmel by the Sea. Overall a very romantic and fantastic experience in a "mini Napa Valley". I would refer this listing to anyone. 5 starts through and through

Cozy Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This apartment had views, peace & quiet, beautiful gardens, stained glass windows, and a really nice, helpful owner so it's the perfect place for a getaway, especially if you don't want the crowds of Carmel. I wish the deck got more sunlight, but that's a small thing. And if you don't bring your own books, she has plenty for you!

Cozy weekend!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I loved staying at the Treehouse! The location was fantastic, plus the studio had everything we were looking for: it was cozy, comfortable, and had the perfect porch for sitting outside and taking in views of the valley in the morning and the sky at night! We'd definitely be back :)

Beautiful Place in which to Awaken

  • 5 of 5

The treehouse is very comfortable for two people. In the morning the large windows have a beautiful view of the hills. Everything was very clean and the bed and linens were excellent. Desiree met us on arrival and showed us around which was very helpful. The kitchen is adequate for cooking meals. It is a wonderful place in which to relax in the beauty of the hills.
