Love the cabin. Well equipped. Excellent communication with host. Laundry room functioned great. Love the cast iron skillet. It made wonderful grilled cheese sandwiches. Two red fox came to see us off. Thank you for letting us share your home. Animal watching was great!

Angie, it truly means so much to us that you continue to return to Lamar Valley Cabins year after year. Guests like you become part of the story of this place, and we love knowing the cabins feel like a little home base for your Yellowstone adventures.
The wildlife experiences you mentioned are exactly what makes staying near Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley so special. Seeing wolves, bears, bison, and other wildlife in their natural habitat never gets old for us either, and we’re always thrilled when our guests get to experience those unforgettable moments.
We’re also glad the cabin continues to be a cozy and comfortable place to return to after long days exploring Yellowstone National Park, hiking the trails, or wildlife watching in Lamar Valley and the surrounding Cooke City area.
Thank you again for your kindness and loyalty over the years, Angie. We’re already looking forward to welcoming you back to Lamar Valley Cabins for your next Yellowstone adventure.

Perfect base camp for venturing into Yellowstone and the Beartooth mountains. Silvergate / Cooke City is quaint and eclectic with lovely restaurants and cute shops. The house was clean and very comfortable and well appointed. My family thoroughly enjoyed everything about the house, hosts, and the incredibly beautiful area!
Cute cabin home 1 mile from NE entrance to Yellowstone. Made veiwing wild easy as we went through the valley every evening and morning on our way in. Cabin is also at the bottom of beartooth pass wich is an amazing drive
This was the perfect place to stay for our visit to yellowstone. The cabin was very cozy and a nice quiet little town. The Northeast gate is so easy to get in and out of as an added bonus.
We absolutely loved this property! Wonderful location with quick access to Yellowstone! The cabin is very comfortable and beautiful with all the wood detailing. We had a great time and would def go back!
We came back to Yellowstone again this year. Stayed in Cooke City last year and loved the area, so we decided to try Silvergate. We loved the house, it was easy to find, comfortable and clean. We loved the special touches in the bedrooms. The kitchen was well stocked. We would stay again!

Well appointed home in an excellent location!
A comfortable well appointed home in a wonderful location to visit Yellowstone. Views from the cabin are great! Very close to the Lamar Valley which is an excellent location to spot wild life. Many good hikes in close proximity to the property. Karen who owns the Cabin is very helpful and prompt in her responses. I look forward to staying at the Lamar Valley Cabins on my next visit to the area.

Thank you very much for the nice review Rickey! We are so pleased you are visiting again over the holidays. Winter in Yellowstone is like nothing else.
This was a wonderful place to relax in a between snowshoe and wildlife-watching excursions in Yellowstone. The cabin is lovely and very comfortable. We brought in groceries and did a fair amount of cooking. Really appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and the basic spices and supplies like flour and sugar. Thanks to our hosts for a great stay!
This was a very cozy, relaxing cabin very close to the north east entrance of Yellowstone National park. We saw bison and mule dear right from the kitchen window on multiple days. The host was easy to communicate with and the cabin was very clean. I would definitely stay here again. It was great driving through Lamar Valley every day to get in and out of the rest of the park we saw a lot of wildlife this way.
The cabin was beautiful inside and out and you just cannot beat the location. It’s like a mile from the entrance to Yellowstone and by staying at this location you get to drive in and out via the Lamar Valley which is the best part of the park for wildlife viewing. We saw almost every animal in the park along our drives. You can pick up some groceries in Cooke City and there are some food options nearby including the wonderful BBQ truck within steps from the cabin. We would highly recommend staying here while exploring Yellowstone.

Exceeded all expectations
We had a girls getaway in the cabin for 3 nights in late June and were thrilled with the beautiful cabin! It is less than a mile from Yellowstone, and there are amazing mountain views from most of the rooms. We loved the general store and cafe down the street, and were even graced by a bison in the back yard for most of our stay! The accomodations are perfect and exceeded all of our expectations - everything is luxurious and new, but also comfortable. We felt right at home. We can't wait to visit again!
This cabin was awesome. We arrived at night, didn't have trouble finding the cabin thanks to the directions from the owner, and..... they left the lights on for us :). It was clean, private, close to the northeast entrance, with amazing mountain views. Woke up to a Bison outside our backyard one morning, just amazing. Book this place you won't regret it.

winter getaway
The owner was great to work with. Very quick to respond and helpful. The property was great. We went to Cooke City snowmobiling with another couple and stayed here in Silver Gate. The cabin was beautiful. The area is gorgeous and very peaceful. We saw moose several times on our ride from Silver Gate to Cooke City. Only thing that would have made the stay better is a hot tub
Perfect base location for all things Lamar Valley! The property was SO comfortable and the perfect respite to our respite in the Park. We loved the proximity and ease of accessing our favorite Park sites. Karen was responsive to our questions and made us feel welcome. We enjoyed our visits from Jefferson the resident bison and viewing him from the cabin. The cabin is supplied with everything from a full kitchen to games/books and the MOST comfortable bedding for the perfect rest and recharge. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and hope to return soon!
Another great stay in the Lamar Cabins in Silver Gate, a quintessential very Montana town! Perfect location-just minutes from the northeast entrance to Yellowstone. But even better is this amazing cabin itself-with everything you could ever need, including breathtaking views. Comfortable, cozy & so thoughtfully appointed. Kitchen has EVERYTHING you could need to prepare a meal or even bake a cake! Beds are comfy with lots of extra blankets & pillows. And soooo many towels. Love the ability to use the washer/dryer; makes packing light possible & no dirty laundry to do at home after your trip:)Wish I could live here year-round! Our hosts Karen & Jeff are always so responsive and generous. Always love staying here & always sad to leave as well

These guests are part of our Lamar Valley family and consistently leave the cabin as clean as when they walked in! Very friendly and respectful guests!
For our family of 10, the two houses - Lamar and Silver Falls - were perfect! Gave us the space and beds we needed to accommodate all; just could not have worked out any better! We had no need to contact the property manager or the owners during our stay. We are looking forward to returning next year! We have only two suggestions: improve the walking path between the two homes and replace the BBQ grill at the Lamar house. Overall: Wonderful for us!
The house is cute and clean and comfy and was ideally located by Yellowstone’s NE entrance for quick access to the Lamar Valley, which is what we wanted. We liked having restaurant options in Cooke City as well as right across the street. Upon arrival, we learned the whole town was out of power due to a storm. It was not an ideal start to our trip, as we also didn’t have running water. It was a bit rough, but power was restored in the middle of the night and things were comfortable after that. We would recommend this house to others.

Nice cabin
This home is very, very nice inside and very comfortable. Pretty views from the windows and the kitchen well stocked and modern. The only con for us was we like to spend the majority of our time outside. There is absolutely no where to sit outside except on the wet front steps, and no grill which was a disappointment. You couldn't sit in the yard even due to chest high grass. Bring your own chairs and plan to cook in or eat out every night, and you will be very happy! Awesome location, walk to the cafe restaurant and general store.

Thank you for your comments and we are seriously considering them as suggestions on how to improve visitor's experience at our cabin. I'm sorry you did not have an area for outdoor seating during your stay, or the ability to grill outdoors. Having handbuilt our cabin, we care deeply about the quality of our improvements, and we are in the planning stages is a new deck for Spring 2014. The deck will take advantage of our incredible view to Ampitheater mountain. We also plan to add a picnic table in the rear to offer a quiet spot under the big pine tree where our guests can spot the mountain goats and big horn sheep on Mineral Peak.
Extreme fire hazards caution us against having a grill outdoors. Perhaps once Jeff and I have built the deck, we can offer a safe spot for a grill.
About the host
Hosted by Karen Hogan or Jeff Hogan
Jeff and Karen Hogan live in Jackson, Wyoming. Jeff makes wildlife films and have chosen Silver Gate as a home-base when filming in Yellowstone.
Why they chose this property
We choose this property because of the unique character of Silver Gate. It's a town that is frozen in time. It's quiet, charming, and is a true reflection of western life in the Rockies.
Our homes are easy to access year-round; a short stroll from the ice cream shop, the Log Cabin Cafe, the town park with play structures, and a short hike right out the back door takes you to Silver Falls, the town waterfall.
Silver Gate has none of the hustle and bustle of other border towns, and we've been told Lamar Valley Cabins is one of Yellowstone's best-kept secrets.
What makes this property unique
Lamar Valley Cabins in Yellowstone are for travelers desiring modern conveniences and plenty of space. We use only clean, sustainable cleaning products and value preserving Yellowstone's intact ecosystem.
