This affordable vacation cabin rental is the ideal place for a nice relaxing, peaceful getaway. Mountain Magic is both cozy and comfortable, with modern style, and decor.

Mountain Magic has a lot to offer. From a lazy hammock in the yard, the outdoor hot tub with glassed-in deck to soak in the stars, to cozy furnishings around the fireplace. Enjoy a cup of tea, morning coffee or an evening glass of wine in the sun room, sure to hit the spot. Take a walk around the mostly fenced-in and mostly level property and enjoy the artistic old painted barn, which houses the beloved farm animals. We ask that you feed our farm animals only organic produce.

The acreage next to Magic is home to:

1 Llama (Dolly Llama)

2 Miniature Donkeys (Annabelle & Sweetie Pie)

1 Potbelly Pig (Heather)

5 super sweet goats (Priscilla, Kiwi, Ginger, Jasper & Snowball)

and maybe a couple others...

You will absolutely fall in love with the animals! Everyone does, so don't say you won't.

The upstairs loft is spacious and quaint, it has a swinging chair, perfect for reading a book in, a dresser, rocking chair and a King bed. The kitchen has all you need to create a home-cooked meal and is open to the great room for entertaining. Build a fire in the fireplace and watch a movie all at the same time. There is a bedroom on the main level with a Queen. After the evening is up, the bathroom has a charming Jacuzzi tub to relax in. The downstairs bedroom has a flat screen TV and a Queen size bed. You might want to sit on the covered porch and enjoy the sounds of nature and watch over the animals next door. Also the deck, just off the sun room would be a great place for grilling, lounging and enjoying the view of the rock waterfall.

Mountain Magic has been host to a beautiful marriage ceremony and it went so well that we are thrilled to offer this wonderful property as a wedding venue for your special day (must approved in advance, of course)!

Mountain Magic is 15 minutes from the town of Boone in North Carolina's beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Home of Appalachian State University, plenty of restaurants (upscale and fast food), new breweries, antique shopping and everything you need while on vacation including an organic-based grocery store. Nearby attractions include Watauga Lake (everyone forgets how close this wonderful lake is!), Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Sugar Ski Mountain, Ski Beech, Hawksnest Snow Tubing, new Zipline and ropes courses, whitewater rafting, gem mining, The Blowing Rock, historic Valle Crucis, lazy summer activities on the New River and so much more. Our area is truly a four seasons resort-type destination with easy access to all of the area amenities!

After your restful stay at Mountain Magic, we are confident you too will become one of our many returning families! Come enjoy our perfect 5-star Mountain Magic!

Why Connie Trivette chose Sugar Grove

Unique, quaint, private and unbelievable acreage (a level yard in the mountains!!!) ... to name a few. The animals are a real treat for all the guests and very entertaining... All things enjoyable wrapped up in this property named so fittingly, we've been told, Mountain Magic...

What makes this cabin unique

This property also can give your horse a room and board if you desire to bring it. The animals are such a joy to the guests. You really just have to see them, it has been said this place is better than a petting zoo...

Guestbook comments from the manager

We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Loved the goats!! We've stayed in many similar cabins around the Blue Ridge, but none as clean, tastefully decorated, or in as nice of a setting as yours. AND never been treated so graciously.

We will recommend it to our friends. Thank you and God bless.

Magic on the Mountain

  • 5 of 5

Few places found on the Internet live up to their claims or are as impressive in person as advertised. Mountain Magic is not one of those. MM advertised a truly rustic mountain top cabin experience, complete with its own petting zoo! My husband and I recently returned from a leaf-viewing week in the North Carolina Mountains only to find most of the trees barren or holding stubbornly to dead or burnt leaves. While we were disappointed with the fall coloring, we weren't disappointed with our choice of MM. The owners have made every attempt to anticipate and provide everything needed for a cozy, comfortable cabin stay, spring, summer, winter or fall. The floor to ceiling glassed in sunroom was our favorite spot and provided a 180* panoramic view of the gorgeous grounds against a back drop of the majestic NC mountains with numerous places for lolling and relaxing and eating - from patios to folding wooden lounge chairs, to hammocks and more - so many we couldn't possibly take advantage of all of them! Toasty fires provided warmth against the chilly NC nights and evenings. We enjoyed our stay so much we chose to stay in and cook several days rather than opting to go out to eat. Everything we needed to prepare our meals was available. The farm animals - donkeys, goats, a potbellied pig, a rooster and his hen, a stately, snow-white llama were docile and delightful to watch. Our little 11 pound Shih-tzu, Bridgette, was not intimidated by them in the least and boasted as if she were boss of the barn yard! Little did she realize that her pip squeaky bark was nothing more to the animals than the ringing of their dinner bell. Guests and children are encouraged to interact with the animals by feeding them apples, bread and carrots. The three-story genuine log cabin provides a cozy loft with a king-sized bed, quaint country quilt, rocking and hanging chairs and one of the five flat-screened TV's provided and a recently renovated lower level with a modern shower, washer and dryer, sofa seating area and another large-screen TV. The kitchen is not modern and is small with a small island, but large enough. People with limited mobility might find the steps challenging. Children (and adults) will be mesmerized by the farm animals and their hand- painted structures. It was encouraging to find a place that allows and welcomes our beloved furry family members. We made some magical mountain memories, highly recommend MM and hope to visit again.

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

The Cabin was very comfortable; fantastic scenery; we felt very safe; it was exactly as described; very clean and well maintained; property representatives were very helpful and pleasant to deal with; definitely recommend to others; we enjoyed Grandfather's Mountain, downtown Boone, Linville Caverns, and surrounding towns as well as fall foliage.

Beautiful, Quaint, and Comfy

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic property! We've been here twice now, and we love this cabin. It's not often you can have such a nice property with such nice land, farm animals, and fun games provided. The only things that you may want to be conscious of is the lack of cell service, though wifi is provided, and the driveway; it has a few potholes that you have to make sure to avoid, but other than that, we loved the place!!

Fantastic Holiday vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was our first stay at Mountain Magic, as we have been traveling to a different area of North Carolina after Christmas for the last 11 years. We have found our new favorite place to stay. The cabin was just perfect for our family of 4 and our Welch Terrier, and was just as nice as the picture showed. Our kids were just as excited with the cabin, as they had plenty of place to run around play football but most of all the feeding of the animals (who were always so excited to see the kids with cups of foods in their hands). The highlight of our trip was to see that lite Christmas Tree in the sunroom window, as we drove in the night of the 26th after being on the road for 11 hours. It felt like we never left home! Many Thanks to Connie who made sure everything was perfect.

Owner's Response: Now this was such a fun read Manny. Thank you and the family so much for making my day! Just the story of the Christmas tree was down right heart warming. That was worth all the effort and then some. I was so happy to have extra help as well with the animals. I think they always miss the kids. Ginger, Kiwi and Molly all are going to give birth any moment. It seems like this always happens in the middle of a winter snow...HaHa.. I am pretty sure we will meet again. Thanks again for taking time to let others have a peak of this place we call Mountain Magic... Our best, Connie and furry friends...

Heavenly.....

  • 5 of 5

This was my first stay at Mountain Magic and the name couldn't be more fitting. It's magical, relaxing and comfortable beyond belief and the animals were sweet and truly love to get their apples and carrots each morning! The cabin is truly a work of art with no detail left undone and the property managers are wonderful. Our visit was for the occasion of my daughter graduating from ASU and the location was ideal for all the things we had planned. I highly recommend Suba's Restaurant in Mountain City, TN (make a reservation in advance) - fabulous food and sweet treats! Can't wait to return to Mountain Magic! Thank you for providing such a perfect mountain retreat! Susie Styron

Mr. Beehunkus and Bumpies

Wonderful property. Well furnished and decorated with quaint, heartwarming items. I'm pretty much the caveman, so the decor didn't make a difference to me . However, the ladies dig that stuff. Momma's happy...everybody's happy, right? My very athletic active dog had plenty of room to chase discs and interact peacefully with the gentle animals that make this their home. Three stories and multiple rooms to nestle into. Located near all our favorite high country locales. The owners take great pride in keeping Mountain Magic truly just that...we both found this vacation week magical.
