Hats off to the Abacos!!!

  • 5 of 5

My Wife and I visited Hope Town 20 years ago on our Honeymoon. We always wanted to get back. The crowd has grown some since then and it took 20 years, but it was well worth the wait! The house was prefect, the weather was great, and everyone had a great time island hopping.

The power seems to go out on the island quite often. I would have never thought to ask about a generator. But thank goodness we had a generator. We stayed for two week and the power went off 5 or 6 times. We were not even aware on most occasions that the power was out, other than if you went outside you would barely hear the generator running out there.

Our house keepers, they were great people, gave us a list of things to do on the island, and gave us the heads up about many other events and goings on that we should try to make and they even stopped in from time to time to check on us. I big THANK YOU to them for being so hospitable! The vacation would not have been same without you!

Lastly, over and above anything I have every experience! A big thanks to everyone! We were leaving had everything pack and ready to go. The house keepers picked us up timely, made the trip over in the ferry, got to the airport and realized we had forgotten a bag. It was the snorkeling equipment for the 7 of us! I thought it was gone forever! We had 90 minutes until our flight was going to leave and there was no way we were going to get the stuff back, chalk it up to my own fault for forgetting the bag. There was just not enough time.

But wait! The person behind the counter for Delta heard us talking, approached us and said no worries, we can get that for you. Well she tried to call the care takers on the island. The power was out and the phones were down! It is lost forever. Hold on! She went outside talked to a cab driver and told her to pick up this bag at the ferry dock, it would be on the next ferry! I just smiled. What was about to happen was amazing. The cab driver radioed a head to the ferry dock told them of the problem. The ferry docked radioed across the bay to VBRO. VBRO radioed the care taker, who went back to the house, got the bag and got it to the ferry on time. The ferry captain gave the bag to cab driver who dropped it off at the airport and the Delta person found us in the airport and handed us the bag with a smile on her face. All with 15 minutes to spare! Absolutely amazing! I had nothing to say! That doesn’t happen anywhere other than in the ABACOS!

Been all over Abaco- This is the spot!!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed on Lubbers Quarters, mid- Elbow Cay, North end, Green Turtle, etc. This house is perfect from a variety of perspectives.

Location: Easy walk to Sea Spray Marina and Abaco Inn, keep an eye on your boat at the private dock from the master bedroom and an easy cart ride into town. All that and you could toss a small coconut into either the Atlantic or Sea of Abaco in either front or back yard! Our favorite piece was being able to take our rental boat (Abaco Dorado - had a great experience with them) out of White Sound and right over to Tahiti beach. Just an amazing place to swim and hang out.

Interior- Our party consisted of two families with three adult (college-age) kids. There are effectively three master suites, one on each level with a fourth bedroom on the ground level with two twins. All four bedrooms have en-suite baths- a key component of remaining friends over vacation.... Beyond that, everything was just right. If you are going to get out of sorts if the power goes out and the generator can't operate the central air, dryer, tv and microwave- go to Sandals in Aruba or stay in New Jersey! That's island life and this home is set up better than any I've seen. With every room opening onto both the ocean and Sea of Abaco, it would be hard to want to close off the awesome breeze.

Beyond that, call the caretakers beforehand to double check what you should bring. Maxwells Grocery in Marsh Harbour is essentially equal in selection and price to a Sate-side store. Assume you will need about everything but the bottle of rum I left behind :)

Perfect Home for Four Couples

  • 5 of 5

We arrived by boat last November to this fabulous yellow house looking over both the bay and the ocean. The views were stunning both morning, noon & night. We particularly loved star gazing on the front deck. The home has been taken care of very well with beautiful decor. The property was perfectly situated for four couples. Each bedroom was completely private with it's own bathroom. The beds were extremely luxurious, I slept better than ever! We went island hopping, which was so much fun, especially Nippers on Guana Cay. We had golf carts to visit restaurants at night. Firefly was particularly good. The house was easy walking to the Abaco Inn. I can't wait to come back!

Island Paradise Found

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was fabulous. The home had both beach and bay views. We watched sunrises and sunsets from the decks. It does not get much better than this. The home was beautiful !!!! The home had all the modern necessities such as cable tv, grill, wifi etc. It offered lots of privacy and space if vacationing with other couples or kids which we had 3 couples. We rented a boat and docked it on the bay side a skip and a hop away from the house. We got around on golf carts or by boat and it was truly very relaxing. We went walking on the beach, island hoping, diving, sightseeing, dining out and in, read books and of course had to do a little shoppIng. Everyone was friendly and accomodating. The manager stopped in to welcome us and gave us his phone number which we never had to use. The owner was very helpful in answering all our questions and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we had a great time.

We liked this vacation so much that we commissioned a local artist to paint this home and the water color painting will forever remind us of this wonderful getaway vacation.

Looking forward to our next trip.

Abaco Villas

  • 5 of 5

We were there in October with four couples. The house is perfect for couples as well as families. Not only is the house roomy and attractively furnished, there are decks on the ocean and bay side that help you enjoy the out of doors and great views. Very convenient location, but a lot of privacy too. Boat dock easily assessable and a short walk to the marina and some local restaurants, but a short golf cart ride to town too. Great house and location.

This island house was spectacular! We had a wonderful week exploring the island and just relaxing with our friends. This 4 bedroom, 4 bath house was designed perfectly for four couples and everyone having their privacy. Each couple had their own bath and balcony off of the bedroom with beautiful views of the Atlantic. We all enjoyed our coffee and breakfast on the deck in the morning and awesome walks along the beach. The main living area was large enough for all of us to relax and enjoy drinks. The open kitchen was the right size for all of us to cook or fix a snack at our leisure. The golf carts provided us access to tour the island and go out for dinner. Our rented boat docked out front on the bay was great for fun day trips and island hopping.

I can't say enough about the house and its amenities. It was so comfortable and perfect for our group. Everyone had a great time. This was one of our best trips to the Bahamas and Hope Town. We hope to go back soon.

Why Hope Town Hideaways chose Hope Town

We chose to build a home on Elbow Cay because it is such a unique, relaxing and enjoyable place to be. It is truly the most laid back and relaxing time for us to enjoy family and friends. The island is warm and welcoming, the beaches have the most beautiful powdery white sand that you will ever see and the beautiful aquamarine of the Sea of Abaco and Atlantic Ocean are truly something to behold. The fishing, diving and snorkeling are all exceptional. There is something for everyone to do with so many other activities to chose from and places to explore. Once you visit, you will see how special a place Elbow Cay and Hope Town truly are.

What makes this house unique

Our favorite times are loading up the golf cart with kids and a picnic and going to Tahiti Beach where the water is so crystal clear and the sand so powdery white and we enjoy floating in the crystal clear waters, sunning, exploring and snorkeling. Later that day we are picked up by boat and we go over to Cracker P's and have lunch to get a taste of local flavor. We run into some friends and go tie up and take a swim where we find so many fish and wildlife swimming around the coral heads and a huge stingray paddles by. Later that afternoon we head home by boat where we have fresh lobster waiting for us for dinner and enjoy a beautiful sunset, nice conversation and a good glass of wine and we are so tired from our busy day that we all hit the sack and can't wait to do it all over again tomorrow!
