We've been visiting Mexico for over 20 years, and we still love it. We especially love the people. As denizens of the Pacific NorthWet we really appreciate warm, dry weather.
Dave Fisher purchased this villa in 2007
We like all of Mexico, but Cabo is special. The combination of desert and ocean is unique. We have other options, but we chose Montecristo because we can imagine ourselves actually living here for part of the year. Wonderful service, great quality, fantastic location.
My wife is a reader, but I need to keep moving. This place offers us enough of both so we're happy. I love to take a day to dive at Cabo Pulmo, or snorkel at Chileno Bay, and she can join me or stay 'home' and crank through another book by the pool. It's great just to play in the pool with my nieto. There's some nice bouldering down the beach, too. It's a nice walk to Sunset beach (take the shuttle home) where we can sit by the pool, make new friends, and have Enrique bring us fish tacos and another fruity drink.
We absolutely loved staying at this Villa. David, the owner of the Villa, had great communication with me prior to the trip so I felt comfortable that we had all of the information we needed before arriving. The unit is absolutely beautiful. The views are stunning. One afternoon we saw a very active whale in the distance. The resorts personal concierge, Raul, greeted us shortly after we checked in and he made sure we had his contact information and instructions on our options to getting around the Pueblo Bonito Resorts, ordering groceries, catching cabs, shuttles, fishing excursion plans, etc. Every time we had questions or needed assistance with something Raul immediately responded. Our party consisted of 4 adults and two recently high school graduated young men. Everyone was so happy with the space and ability to have private rooms with great bathrooms and closets. Most of our days were spent in the Villa infinity pool just enjoying the sounds of the waves hitting the shore. The graduates were all over between our place, the other resort pools and downtown. We chose to take taxis into town verses the shuttles because we aren't very patient. The shuttles are a good option if you are just staying close by and going to Pueblo's Sunset or Pacifica resorts. If going downtown I would recommend calling for taxi which is between $14-$20 dollars one way, depending on number of passengers. So you should consider if renting a car is more convenient. We don't like driving there so the cab money and Browns Transportation Service was worth it to us. The housekeepers were there everyday and took great care of us. It is not always the same employees providing services so make sure you have tipping cash available to show your appreciation. If you want a more quiet vacation with private pool, hot tub and ability to go downtown on your terms then this is fantastic option.
What can I say. Our stay here was the best vacation ever. We were here two weeks over Thanksgiving this year. It was more then we could ever imagine. This villa is amazing. We were 8 adults and 3 small children. We never felt crowded. The private pool worked out well with the children. They even had a restraining fence that you could put around it to be safe. The Monte Cristo accommodates you in all ways. The transportation to where ever you wanted to go was fast and easy. We took day trips to the other Monte Cristo pools and also to the other Pueblo Bonito Properties. This villa was so clean and the daily housekeeping was amazing. Above and beyond what you would expect. The pictures do not even begin to show the beauty of the area. The sunsets amazing. Of course, Dave was great. He happened to be in the area and invited my two grandsons to go fishing with them. They had the best time. Even caught fish and we had it for dinner that night. I would recommend this villa to anyone. Hope to go again one day.
The Montecristo Villa is one the best if not the best vacation rental we have ever stayed at. We can compare it too many others from Hawaii, the California coast, Caribbean and the Tuscany region in Italy; so this is saying a lot about the villa. This was our first time in Mexico and David made it that much easier as he was outstanding while we were planning our trip. This was a family vacation (my wife, two daughters and son-in-law). We do not get the opportunity often to see each other during the year; this villa was perfect for what we were looking for. It had all the amenities we could ask for and you can also use the Pueblo Bonito pools, restaurants and spas. The villas are designed with privacy in mind. The villa was immaculate; they cleaned entire villa each day. Although we heard transportation at the villas is suppose to be very good we did rent a car. We like to have a car as it makes it easier for us to go anywhere anytime we wanted. If you do rent a car try Rosie's Tacos on your way from the airport (thanks David). Our favorite restaurant was an Italian restaurant named La Dolce. I know it seems a bit odd having Italian food in Mexico; but the food and service were excellent. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation I would highly recommend the Montecristo Villa; it is first class.
Wow... What an amazing place. We loved it. Usually pictures make a place look better than it is. Not here. It was beautiful and so relaxing. Everything was perfect. And thank you for making sure the whole process went smoothly and that we had everything we needed. We look forward to sitting by the pool and watching the sunset again next year!
I stayed in Montecristo estates with 5 of my girlfriends right before the Thanksgiving holidays. From the moment we'd dreamed up the trip and began working with Dave, throughout the trip with the staff, and after the trip, everyone involved was extremely professional, attentive, and made us feel very well taken care of. The Pueblo Bonito resorts are stunning and despite various scary stories in the news about travel in Mexico, this is a location where I honestly felt extremely safe, if not a bit like that movie "The Truman Show".
The villa was immaculate and even better in person than described. The kitchen and bathrooms were fully stocked. I would say that while it can probably sleep 8-10 quite comfortably, keep in mind that's with each bed and the convertible bed shared. For platonic friends, 4 or 5 is probably plenty :)
The pool guy came by each day and left us hibiscus floating in the pool (after he maintained it) and in the entryway fountains. Such a sweet touch! It's the attention to those little details that had me completely speechless by the entire resort community. Even the shuttle to the spa resort had (I swear I'm not making this up) leather seats and aromatherapy. If I could spend every day down at Pacifica and Armonia Spa being pampered by their staff.
And then there was Dave. Like I said, from the moment I got the idea, he was incredibly helpful answering various questions, sending me additional information or ideas for things ranging from logistics, to meals and restaurant recommendations and cool outdoor activities. I would recommend working with him for your next vacation!
I second Dave's recommendation to make an initial stop at Costco on the way from the airport and stock up on water/drinks, chips & avocados & salsa (yep, we managed to eat it all!), breakfast items, etc. Our routine was fairly easy - breakfast at the villa, lunch poolside or in town (on the beach days), dinner and dancing out on the town at night! Make a day or two of the beach. Lover's beach and Land's End! The Rissalena snorkeling and sunset cruises were fantastic, with the most easygoing, friendly crew and a good group of other tourists. I'd also recommend the office and edith's for dinner and Nowhere Bar, Happy Ending, Pink Kitty and Squid Roe for getting your dance on (if that's your thing).
I would absolutely recommend this property!
This was our first time to Cabo and we wanted to make it a memorable vacation. We went with another family (4 adults, 5 children total), so we wanted a place that was both large and nice. We could not have been more impressed. From the moment we reserved the villa the owner called (and emailed) me with a wealth of information regarding the villa and all the sites to see.
When we arrived we were more than impressed with the quality of the villa. It was clean, had a ton a room, beautiful infinity pool, fully equipped kitchen, etc. We stayed there 8 days and we could have easily stayed another full week.
Thank you Dave for this great vacation!!! We will be returning.
