Sit on the deck and listen to the loons. Lie in the hammock at sunset and watch the sky turn pink. Swim through the cool, pristine water of Spider Lake.
Our sun-filled cabin is near the end of a narrow peninsula, with lake views from every window and no traffic. It’s perfect for family gatherings, book club retreats, or a couple wanting to just relax. Built to be shared, it has welcomed three generations of our family and friends. Child-friendly antiques and warm wood floors make it cozy and welcoming.
Big Spider is the largest of a chain of five lakes and you can canoe and kayak for hours, picnicking on and exploring nearby islands. The cabin feels secluded, yet it’s convenient to just about any activity you could want, including:
* vast CAMBA mountain bike trail system
* Cable Natural History Museum, with great children’s programs
* sustainably developed Teal Wing golf course
* Apostle Islands National Lakeshore
* North Country hiking trail
Bright and cheerful no matter what the weather, each room of the cabin looks out onto the lake. You can lie in bed with the windows open and listen to the night sounds. To protect the wildlife and the quiet nature of the lake, we don't allow jet skis at the cabin.
There is plenty of sitting room, areas to play cards and do puzzles, and a rug to lie on in front of the fire. The deck is a wonderful place to eat or you can gather round the dining room table on a chilly night.
Many a lovely meal has come out of our kitchen and there is a grill outside overlooking the lake.
Though you never need to leave the cabin, there are wonderful things to see in the area, like art studios, antique shops, the south shore of Lake Superior, and Cable's Natural History Museum. There is trout fishing on the beautiful Brule, White, and Namekagon Rivers and horseback riding at the Spider Lake Ranch Riding Stable. Festivals abound throughout the summer and fall, like the Stone Lake Cranberry Festival and the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival. Places to eat worth a half hour drive and less are the Rivers Eatery in Cable for wood-fired pizza and craft beer; the Angry Minnow brew pub in Hayward; and Lost Land Lake Lodge for their Friday night fish fry.
All in all, our cabin is just a delightful place to be.
We had a wonderful time. Your place and the property is stunning. The fishing was awesome, to spite the high winds. Many muskie were boated and more were following. I would recommend your place to anyone. We'd love to return.
Our stay at this amazing home was enjoyed by all. The beautiful decor including a library for all ages, outside deck overlooking the lake, fire pit and dock where the children spent hours fishing and swimming. They all learned how to do flips off the dock. We took lots of walks on the pennisula road and enjoyed the peacefulness. The prestine water and the catch and release of a 46 inch muskie was the highlight of our stay. The only drawback was we really missed our microwave! This is a truly wonderful home for family time. Thank you to the owner for sharing it
