Thanks Bob and Nancy, we stayed at the Kiki House in August of 2015. Our family had the best vacation in a very long time. We were able to enjoy the abundant under water scenery and sea life right off the end of the property. There were no big crowds to contend with just peace and nature. Actually nobody around by the home like you said; basically a private beach we enjoyed for the entire week.
The house is well equipped and everything was in working order. Yvonne and Issy were wonderful and very helpful. Smiling Pat was a great way to spend a day learning some things about Cat Island, definitely recommended, just set it up through Yvonne. There are many wonderful restaurants with real Bahamian cooking and great beer. Heard some great rake n scrape too.
I personally want to say I had a wonderful experience working with you nancy and I feel bad you had that bad experience but we loved the home and the experience was great! Thanks again for everything (the booklet was VERY helpful, great job). Yvonne and Issy were very punctual and just a joy to have met. All in all I would highly recommend staying at the Kiki House.
We spent a fantastic week at the Kiki House. Four adults and two children (4 and 7). The house and beach were perfect. House had everything we needed, and Yvonne and Izzy took care of all our needs. The beach is beautiful, and was all ours! The snorkeling off the beach was great, and got even better the further out you go. We are seasoned travelers, having travelled beach destinations in Caribbean, Mediterranean, SE Asia and Australia extensively - and this place tops our list for privacy and tranquility (which is why we are returning in December!). There are not many shops or other amenities nearby, but for us that just added to the charm. We look forward to being back!
Nice house and great reefs for snorkeling in front of the house and around the point. Be sure to have a beer at the Pink Chicken shack which is in walking distance.
This place was the perfect getaway for a family of four who wanted a quiet, secluded place to stay with a beach and coral reef right out the back door. The spacious house is quite modern with air conditioning, electricity, and hot water. There is a large master bedroom with a king size bed, and two smaller bedrooms with queen size beds. There are two large bathrooms, and a washing machine. The furniture is new and is in great condition, and the kitchen is equipped with everything one needs. There are three inflatable rafts for fun in the water, four sets of snorkeling gear (we brought our own though) and a single person sit-on-top kayak and paddle. The back porch is where we spent most of our time relaxing and watching the ocean. The little bay (Cutlass Bay) is fairly well protected but the ocean was still pretty rough (whitecaps) and, at least for the week of June 25-July 2 2016, too rough for kids' first snorkeling experience as they kept getting water in the snorkels. But the more experienced adult snorkeler among us went out every day, twice a day. The visibility was fair to excellent - worse in the afternoon when the surface water heats up and the phytoplankton get thick and turn the water green - but further out from the bay the visibility was consistently good to excellent. There is little boat traffic within the bay so no need for a dive flag. There are large swaths of dead coral, and the coral bleaching is pretty bad where the coral is very shallow, but there is new coral growing, including brain coral, staghorn coral, lots of sea fans and gorgonians, lots of sponges, and while there were few large schools of fish, the diversity was good - we identified over 60 species of fish in our short week there, plus there were many sea turtles although most were too shy to let a snorkeler approach. Interestingly and unfortunately, no moray eels. We drove to Greenwood Resort for lunch one day but discovered they weren't serving, so we drove to Fernandez Bay Resort twice - they have outstanding food and a self-serve bar that is on the honor system - but they are pretty expensive. Lunch for four cost $80 one day and $120 another day. The bay there is on the leeward side of the island and the water was calm enough for the kids to snorkel and swim safely. Issy and Yvonne were great and got us a car rental for much cheaper than one could get anywhere else. Groceries for four people ran around $300 for the week, including wine and beer.
My wife and I just spent 3 great, relaxing weeks in the Kiki house. Let me correct myself, "the Kiki House" is really a home away from home... It has all the amenities that we needed to have a very comfortable stay. Love the shady back porch overlooking the ocean. It's a great quiet location with a beautiful deserted white sandy beach. We found the house super clean upon arrival and our caretakers, Issy and Yvonne are caring and attentive. Great island with friendly people. John and Nancy. Go Pack
When we arrived on Cat Island we were happily greeted immediately upon arrival by Izzy and Yvonne who took us to the KiKi house. The house was absolutely PERFECT - and well beyond our expectations and I honestly can't think of a single complaint about it. The beds are comfortable, the house is spacious, the amenities are all up to date and every room has its own air conditioner. The pictures of the oceanfront view and house itself just don't do it justice. It was beautiful, tranquil and just what the doctor ordered. Our vacation was so wonderful and all of the people on the island were so incredibly nice as well. We needed rides a few times into town and all of the locals were more than happy to help us out. We could have stayed for a month (especially with the washer and dryer)!
The beach is so secluded and private - we walked it every day as if it was our own private beach (also, the sand is pink!). Sea glass hunting was amazing as well - we came home with bags full! We also built massive bonfires after collecting enough drift wood from around the area which made for a beautiful and romantic evening. I would HIGHLY recommend this place. The owners are so polite and easy to work with and extremely accommodating. We're already planning our next vacation to the kiki house for 2017.
Thank you Nancy and Bob, Issy and Yvonne for a Great Vacation! Our family visited your house for Thanksgiving 2015 and what an experience! They even made sure we had a Turkey for our Thanksgving Day Dinner. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed and more. The people on the island are so friendly and helpful it made the experience even better. The guide you provided was a big help also. The weather was spectacular and our kids had a blast snorkeling and exploring the island with us. We will be back! We are not sure what the other people were writing about in their review but this was a very easy and enjoyable process and vacation. Thank you again!
