If you like the outdoors, enjoy the outside deck that goes all around the house. Relax in the 2 porch swings at the front and walk around to the back deck for sunbathing in lounge chairs or grilling dinner at the outdoors dining table. The lower level is a good place for recreation, listening to music or toasting marshmallows at the campfire ring. At the end of the day relax at the top level open deck for viewing the display of stars in the night sky. If you enjoy the indoors, there is a TV in all the bedrooms as well as in the main living areas. You can bring your own movies for the DVD or select from our movies while playing the games at the game table on the upper lever that overlooks the living area TV.

Perfect house for families!
We just left from an amazing trip. The house accommodated 2 families easily. The gated front porch was perfect to let the kids run around with out worrying about them (especially the little ones) wandering off. The yard ifself was amazing, lots to explore, especially the community area down the road. The views from the deck we're amazing as well.
The house had everything you would need to make meals, and a grill if you wanted to have a BBQ. You can do as much or as little as you would want!!
The owners were extremely accommodating and helpful. If we were to come back to the region we would definitely want to stay here!
Our family decided to go away for the Holidays and we picked this house to enjoy our time together. We liked that the bedrooms all had a queen size bed or larger. One of our requirements was that the house be large enough so that we wouldn't be on top of each other. There were three good sized bedrooms and each bedroom had patio doors that led to the deck. The house had a wrap around deck and the two main floor bedrooms patio doors led to the deck. The master bedroom on the 2nd floor had it's own balcony and bathroom. We took the family dog along and with the wrap around porch and the gates on the porch we could let the dog outside on the deck without any worries. The kitchen was large and lovely. It was an open concept so the kitchen, dining area and living room, with a fireplace, were all open to each other so you had a great area to do things together. The basement was finished off and there was a pool table, wet bar, full refrigerator and a couple of couches with a gas fireplace. The basement also had access to the outside with a patio and doors that led to the back yard. The yard around the house was lovely and they had a fire pit outside. Unfortunately due to the time of year we were there and the cold temperatures we weren't able to enjoy that part of it. The owners were lovely and very helpful if we needed anything. They had the house decorated for the Holidays and were very accommodating by allowing us to put up some of the ornaments on the tree so we could participate in the decorating, even though it wasn't our home. The house was clean and there was plenty of towels. There was a washer and dryer for our use and the kitchen was complete with dishes and cookware. We would definitely come to this property again.
Beautiful view and fantastic home!
Incredible place to stay with a stunning view! Owners are very helpful and polite. Good access to area attractions.
Awesome, will be back!
First the house. It was beautiful and well kept with a porch that went completely around the whole house. The view was magnificent (would love to see a few more trees trimmed to catch the sunset) looking into the valley below. Had a blast playing pool and we even pulled out he monopoly game one evening(had not played in years). There were 10 of us and we had plenty of room. As for things to do, well, next time we need to plan for a longer stay. The gem mining was 10 minutes away and we had a lot of fun, even tried a bit of panning for gold (not something you would want to do for a living). The South Toe river is not too far away and was great for swimming and tubing. But best of all is the quiet. Just go and relax and listen to nature. That was the best part of the trip, sitting on the deck and drinking coffee.
Now, important info. For those of you who decide to take a trip to paradise, actually read and pay attention to the directions that are sent to you just prior to your trip. I had the combinations and was ready to go. Got to where my GPS sent me and there was no house! After searching the area I pulled out the email I had received (and thankfully printed) and presto, there were actually directions that took me right to the house. GPS takes you below the house and you cant see if from where it takes you. Also, there is no cell reception. So if you depend on google maps like I do, make sure you start your trip while in range of Wi-Fi. Hope to return again next year and do even more of nothing but relaxing on that awesome back balcony.
Private, beautiful awesome get away home for 10 of us!
We had a relaxing vacation. The home is private with access to 3 levels. 1st level is 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, living room, kitchen, dinning and wrap around porch. The lower lever is a game room with 1 bath and access to walk out to patio area, yard and fire pit. Pool table, tv and Wi-Fi available. The top floor is a table with balcony and master bedroom with balcony. They had everything we needed in kitchen to cook with all we had to do is bring the food. Firewood available for fire pit. Two kids had to sleep on the couches because there wasnt enough bed space. They didnt mind too much. No one wanted to leave! Everyone had such a great time. Roads to the house are bot bad. No steep inclines. We fished, went to mines, caverns, kayaking and water falls. 20-40 minute drive to most attractions but worth it. Loved the home feel instead of resort without the privacy. We would definitely go again.
Comfortable and convenient
We enjoyed this house very much. The owner was responsive to our questions and concerned that we enjoy our stay.
The house is big enough to accomodate two families comfortably, even if their children have slightly different schedules. It is also readily child-proofed for younger children (not a lot of nick-nacks, etc.).
The location really is great if you have a car: 1 hour to Tweetsie Railway, 20 minute to Linville Falls, right around the corner from the Emerald Mines, etc.
I would happily stay here again.
This is a peaceful getaway in the North Carolina mountains located minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway in Little Switzerland. You can be in Asheville in less than an hour to visit the Biltmore Gardens; on the lake in 30 minutes at Lake James; Linville Caverns in just a short ride on the parkway; or the height of visiting Mt Mitchell; then only minutes away from Emerald Village to mine for precious stones or enjoy the Black Light Cave Tours. You can enjoy an array of activities in this location.
