Great location for Rum Point access. Very quiet and private. House was nice and clean and beach area was as described with great sunsets and water access. Third sleeping area with pullout sofa needs a new sleeper sofa, as the old one was not acceptable to sleep on with any comfort. Managers are aware and are working to provide a new one. This is a great location and good value for the price. Just have many minor maintenance issues that are being addressed by the property manager. Guest feedback always helps the owners know what to fix or update, since they do not live there full time. Our family loved the location and ease of getting to the Rum Point Club or Kaibo's for dinner.
This was our fifth visit to Grand Cayman, our fourth to the North side. SeaCove was a perfect location for our family week. We were a family of six with a one year old. We celebrated an engagement, out by the dock and watched our son propose on bended knee. ( we now know where to buy extension cords and white Christmas lights on island).we also celebrated a birthday( mine) at the Rum Point Club.
The house was well equipped and supplied, especially the kitchen. Sharper knives would be a plus ( my husband, the surgeon's obsession) Silver Thatch provided all the baby equipment, including a gate, all in perfect condition. We spent most of the week at the house, did some snorkeling off the dock and generally just relaxed. There was plenty of outdoor furniture to accommodate all. Rum point is an easy walk for snorkeling and swimming. Kaibo offers a great restaurant and bar, again within walking distance. They also do takeout.
The bioluminescence in the bay was amazing. After discovering we could trigger it off the dock with a stick in the water, we progressed to feeding the fish and watching their trails.
A word of caution: there are loads of jellyfish in the bay. We avoided being stung especially while snorkeling, but other guests were not so luck in the past according to house book comments. These jellyfish look like plant life.
We would suggest having kayak availability at the house, as do all the neighbors. Rental prices seemed steep. If we had neighbor renters, we would have asked to borrow one.
If you are traveling with more than 4 adults, the third room accomodation is a pull out sofa. We did know this in advance but it was not the most comfortable. On the other hand, it's a cold winter up north!
It was an overcast, windy week and we were unable to do a snorkeling trip to Coral Garden, a not to be missed adventure. White sand water sport out of Kaibo offers a reasonably priced trip for those looking to avoid the big boat tours. We used them on our last visit and there were only 10 passengers that day.
We would certainly consider returning to SeaCove.
Close to Rum Point and Kaibo Yacht Club. Beautiful home on the water. Nice beach area. The property management team was very responsive and pro active. I would recommend this home.
The entire island is only 22 miles wide from west to east; so you are never too far from anywhere on Grand Cayman. The cove-front homes in “Cayman Kai” (within Rum Point) offer calm serene water for docking a rental boat, permitting charter captain pick-up or just safe shallow water for little children. Adults won’t swim in the cove (rum point is too nice by comparison) —the water is shallow and has a softer bottom and there is no reef here for fish life...but we do see the occasional turtle, eagle ray or tarpon swim by in the shallows! The beaches are flat white barefoot sand. There is usually little breeze here to speak of. Many homes in Cayman Kai offer a screened porch. The big draw to this area is the proximity to the “Rum Point Club”; a public beach club that offers a fantastic barefoot beach…many watersports, a restaurant, bar, grill, gift shop and pick-up beach volleyball games. (www.rumpointclub.com )
It is from the Rum Point pier that the www.redsailcayman.com 65’ catamaran departs to stingray sandbar for snorkeling trips. Also near Rum Point is the Kaibo Yacht Club restaurant, bar and marina (www.kaibo.ky). Just a great neighborhood dotted with million-dollar oceanfront villas. Click our map on the home page. Lastly…about 20 minutes east we have (2) large resorts in the east end (www.morritts.com and www.thereef.com ) that offer manicured beaches as well as restaurants, a modern grocery store, liquor store, gift shops, SUBWAY sandwich shop (and even a coffee/pastry shop). These two resorts also offer scuba, snorkel trips, jet skis, windsurfers, kiteboarding, ocean front pools and bar service. www.tortugadivers.com and www.whitesandwatersports.com offer snorkeling tours, paddle boards, jet skis, etc.
