What a great location! Couldn't be easier to walk out and hike. Easy to drive to RMNP also. We saw our first MOOSE on the Ouzel Falls trail at Wild Basin! Thank you
Large dining table for family meals. Lots of seating around the fire place to sit and talk. Five girls under the age of 8 enjoyed the play area. We used the spa, grilled out, hiked on the St. Vrain Trail and played in the area by the St. Vrain River. Our one disappointment was we were unable to use the wonderful fire pit due to a ban on open fires in Boulder County.
We loved being so close to the St. Vrain trailhead and Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a perfect location for hiking and exploring. We recommend it to families that love adventure! Thanks!
We stayed with 4 adults and 5 kids over New Years and had a wonderful time. The cabin is very family friendly and had plenty of room for us all.
We really enjoyed the cabin. Thank you! Ray was very easy to work with and was very helpful and gave awesome directions...our family had a great time and really enjoyed the time together. The only thing that I would say is make sure the people renting know that there is only one queen size bed. The rest of the beds are singles. We still enjoyed the cabin, had plenty of beds and had a blast!!!! We would definitely stay here again. Thanks again Ray!
We found this property to be a lovely escape! It is situated right near the Ceran St. Vrain Trail which is a beautiful, relatively easy hike for the first mile or so. The trail continues for much longer but does become steeper. The yard with the play sets and lawn was perfect for young children. Inside, the large living/ dining space is great for gathering, doing crafts, etc.
Our intention while staying was to be still, hike, and explore without driving. Each day we took the kids on small hikes, helped them ski and snowshoe around the yard, roasted s'mores, played on the playground, and made lots of crafts at the large table. It snowed several inches over the course of our stay and the large windows in the living/ dining room were a lovely way to appreciate the beauty of the season.
The owner was friendly and went out of his way to be sure that kitchen supplies were in order ahead of our visit. We planned to cook all meals and were pleased by plenty of dishes, dish soap, towels, hand soap, etc. as well as the expected microwave, stove, and oven. There is no dishwasher. There is plenty of hot water and though the windows were drafty the heat worked well and the home was warm enough even in near-zero temps. There was a TV/ VCR/ DVD on the lower level. There is no CD or music player. Wireless internet worked well. When it stopped working we brushed the snow from the satellite dish. The home was as comfortable and clean as it was rustic.
The layout of the house worked surprisingly well for 2 families with kids. One family slept on the lower level. On the lower level there is a bunk room with 4 twins + a twin trundle. Just outside the bunk room is a twin hide-a-bed with a twin trundle. There is also a bathroom on the lower level. The second family slept on the upper level. On the upper level there is a queen bed in a large room. This room had enough room to easily hold a pack and play and other infant gear. On the upper level there was also a laundry/ small bedroom with a twin bed + a twin trundle. The upstairs bedrooms were separated by a bathroom. By sleeping on different levels and bringing our sound machines from home, the kids all slept peacefully and were not disturbed by others waking up in the house.
We would love to plan another vacation to this property since 4 days was not enough time!
We have come 4 times to this property. It is a great mountain house in an excellent location. The St Vrain Creek runs through the property, and we always enjoy the national forest a short walk away. The kids love to play on the playground and explore near the house. We go to Estes or other nearby attractions. We hike. This is always a wonderful time.
The property is centrally located from Lyons, Estes, Boulder for all recreation activities/shopping (approx. 30 minutes; a mile from Peaceful Valley Resort for eating/horsebackriding, a short walk to tubing, fishing, wading or just enjoy the South St. Vrain Creek in your own front yard. Privacy, hummingbirds, aspens and seclusion!
