Our family has lived on this same property for almost 30 years and we raised our four children here. It is in a rural location, surrounded by Amish neighbors and acres of lawn, as our property sets adjacent to soccer fields which belong to our local school. Some years ago we added a new addition to our Cape Cod house and left an unfinished lower-level to be renovated in the future. In the Spring of 2010, the dream was realized and the little guest apartment hideaway was completed!
Fan Smucker purchased this apartment in 2010
Although we live within a short distance of many activities, and are located within several hours of some of the largest cities in the Northeastern United States, our home is nestled in the quiet countryside of Lancaster County's Amish community. It truly is the best of both worlds!
I swear by AirBnB rental type places at this point, prefer them over hotels. This was by far the most well kept and finely furnished rental I have stayed in. Check in/out was easy. Bed suuuuper comfortable. Owners easy to communicate with. For the price a wonderful place anniversary getaway, compared to the fancy B&Bs in the nearby village. We're dog people so having a dog-away-from-home in Cooper was also fun. If we plan a Lancaster trip again this will be the first accommodation we check.
Our family had the most wonderful stay at the Hideaway! The decor was warm and inviting and made us feel right at home. Furnishings were so comfy and the fireplace an extra special touch. The bed was just as luxurious as the pictures show. Even had a washer and dryer. Bathroom well stocked with plenty of luxurious towels. Coffee and Amish Bread were delicious first thing in the morning. This is a must place to stay. Loved waking up and stepping outside to see the beautiful sunrise over the fields and to listen to the sound of the horses pulling the Amish buggies along the road by the Hideaway. An idyllic place to stay! Wonderful hosts!
We stayed in "The Hideaway", a beautiful, spacious, well appointed basement apartment. This is one of the nicest places in which we have ever had the opportunity to stay for a vacation. The Smuckers have thought of everything to make this a comfortable suite. The property is beautiful, well cared for, relaxing and safe. The location is rural, but close enough to all the attractions of Lancaster County to make them accessable within a few minutes. We want to do it again!
Lovely, clean, well maintained garden hideaway that doesn't make you feel as if you are in a basement. There are candles in the windows, a fireplace and sliding patio doors that open to let in fresh air and lots of natural light. Thoughtful touches everywhere to make your stay special. Beautiful, tranquil setting in the midst of Amish farm land. A little hard to find; never found a street sign but were directed to the property by a local. A romantic getaway but also an excellent choice for a small family. Wonderful yard and a very friendly pooch to greet us. Fan Smucker, the owner, was very responsive. Highly recommend; hope to return again for a stay.
Extremely clean rental. All the ammenities were as described and in good working order. Comfortable accommodations. We loved the privacy and seclusion of the area. It is just large enough for a couple to not feel cramped, with a cozy feel to it. Would love to visit again in the summer. Close enough to drive to the antiquing capital of the world. Plenty of eating establishments around to satisfy everyones palate. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
I travel for business to this area often and so far this beautiful studio is one of my favorite places. I can't express how much I appreciate this place being so clean and convenient.
