About Brad Russell

The Russell family, of Iowa, purchased this property in the Fall of 2012. Brad and Amy Russell are native Wisconsinites, who have adopted 12 children; and thus want Arbor Cottage to remain 'child-friendly' and enjoyed by large families... (Your pets are welcome, too :). They will continue to rent the cottage, extending it to year round rental. They have made several renovations to the home. The name was changed from Bayview Cottage to 'Arbor Cottage' to reflect the garden landscape. We welcome you to 'Arbor Cottage'!!!

Note: The Russell's purchased another cottage, Lille Cottage, which is being fully renovated and will be open June 15, 2017 (https://www.vrbo.com/1060002).

Why Brad Russell chose Door County

This property has a most interesting history. The original four rooms made up the first Post Office (circa 1850's) in Ephraim when Water Street was still a dirt road. The original Postmaster lived and worked from this location. When he married, the upstairs loft area was added to accommodate his growing family. Over the years, a one room cabin was attached to the building; as well as, new additions of downstairs bedrooms, bathrooms, and family room/porch.

In 2016, Brad and Amy remodeled the loft area into a micro-apartment for their permanent residence to continue to oversee and improve the property for their guests.

What makes this cottage unique

The property is located in the center of the Village of Ephraim and has 100' of waterfront. It faces west for incredible sunset views over Eagle Harbor. It doesn't get any better than this!

I couldn't have picked a more ideal place than the Arbor Cottage for my first week-long stay in Door County. It felt like home only better! It had all the comforts we needed, the décor was delightful and the view was outstanding. Brad and Amy couldn't have been more helpful in making sure our stay enjoyable.

Just Lovely!

  • 5 of 5

This home is just what the doctor ordered. So well appointed! If you forgot something, open a drawer and the owners have provided it for you. If you want to have quiet time for yourself there are two lovely living spaces, one of which overlooks the bay. The side yard is lovey. Perfect for an evening glass of wine or walk across the street to the private area perfect to watch the sunset. Thanks Brad and Amy for providing us a much needed time away in your beautiful home.

I want to lie and drop all manner of poisonous comments on this site, so it will be available whenever I want to come back. Yes, that good.

Beautiful cottage - great location.

  • 5 of 5

We spent 9 days in Door County at Arbor Cottage and had a wonderful relaxing week. Brad and Amy are excellent hosts and thought of everything when outfitting the cottage. The cottage was very clean when we checked in and it is so comfortable and decorated perfectly. We enjoyed the kayaks and just sitting outside reading and watching the sunset from the beach.

The cottage is centrally located in Door County so it is easy to get to any of the other towns. It is in walking distance to Wilson's for ice cream, and other great restaurants and coffee shops. We rented a boat from the Ephraim Marina and had a great day fishing and exploring. Peninsula State Park is nearby and it is fun to rent bikes and ride through the park. We will definitely stay here again.

Amazing escape!

  • 5 of 5

We were very excited about our trip to Door County and especially staying at the Arbor Cottage in Ephraim, but the cottage more than exceeded expectations! The beds were comfy, the decor was warm, cozy and inviting, and the location was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed coffee out on the breakfast table and watched sunsets from the private land across the street overlooking the water.

We loved being able to walk to some fabulous food - we ate a great lunch at Wilson's, had a wonderful fish boil at the Old Post Office, and had such a fabulous dinner one night at Trixie's. And we were close little driving trips to Sister Bay and Fish Creek as well!

Brad and Amy were wonderful hosts - they've really thought of everything. My husband and I can't wait to come back and bring our teenagers for a fun family trip - hopefully next summer! I recommend this cottage to absolutely anyone interested in a central location and perfect, waterfront charm!
