Just one block off of Main Street in Fredericksburg's charming Historic District, Bijou B&B (pronounced bee-zhoo) holds true to its name which means, “a jewel; something delicate and exquisitely crafted.” The home is a renovated gem that holds a special place in local history. This home formerly belonged to Lisette Mueller, who served as midwife at the birth of Fredericksburg's most famous son, Admiral Chester Nimitz. Redesigned years ago as a duplex, Bijou offers two completely separate accommodations, Suite Jeannine and Suite Charmaine (with no interior door connecting the two units). Thoughtful renovations were completed throughout this home's interior, preserving much of its original charm while adding modern style and conveniences. Neutral colored shiplap walls and stunning wide plank wood floors form the backdrop of the interior spaces. When the whole house is reserved, this beautiful home can accommodate up to 8 guests.
Suite Jeannine (pronounced Juh-Neen) lies on the left portion of the home (west side), and offers a cozy, romantic space for two. This residence also has a spacious living room with a gas fireplace and flat screen TV. Suite Jeannine not only offers a kitchenette… it offers a PINK kitchenette, always a hit with our guests! The spacious single bedroom in Suite Jeannine boasts a king bed and en-suite bathroom with a pedestal sink and separate tiled shower alongside a beautiful freestanding soaking tub. Set the stage for a romantic evening with a relaxing soak, letting your cares slip away.

The Jeaninne suite was a lovely little spot for a weekend getaway. It's a short walk to the main street for entertainment or food and has plenty of amenities if you want to stay home. I wish we had longer to enjoy the front porch swing and the hot tub but we had a great stay. Would definitely book again!
We had a fantastic time for a week of rest and relaxation. Loved the local amenities and wineries.

We loved our stay!
We have stayed here many times in the past and will stay again. We like the option of making two payments for our reservation time. We do miss the personal touch of folders to begin our stay. The house was missing the iron. Thank you for a wonderful vacation spot.

Quick Getaway
The first night we stayed a big storm passed through. The wooden side fence flew open and kept flapping away through the whole night. A good closing hinge would have been great. The inside wooden fence that connects to the other house was also flapping away.
The fridge did not cool enough. My husband had some medicine that had to be refrigerated and it did not maintaining it cold just fresh.
Other that that it was great.
This was a very nice and romantic place to stay at. It’s right off the main strip and within a 15 minute drive to basically everything to do in the area. Easy to book and help staff was quick to respond and very helpful. Definitely recommend
This was our first visit to Fredericksburg and Bijou Jeanine. This location is great and is a short walk or drive to the best restaurants and shops in town. I can't say enough good things about this place.

Cute Little Place
This place has the cutest front porch and we loved sitting in the swing drinking our coffee each morning. This place was spotless and cozy. Fredericksburg is such a fun little town and I would highly recommend a wine tour. We did one with Absolute Charm and it was fantastic.
Our stay could not have been more perfect. The cottage is clean and beautiful, location is great, and the whole process was so easy. I even left my IPad and work cell phone and they immediately called to let me know and are shipping it to me. We will definitely stay here again!!
We had a great time in Fredericksburg starting at Absolute Charm. House was exactly as described. Spacious enough for 2 adults. Large bathroom and cute little kitchen. Best thing was the porch swing!
My only recommendation would be a shelf in the bathroom shower.
The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because it is so bright inside. When you come on vacation you want to sleep in somedays but without blackout curtains the sun comes in really bright in the mornings. And it makes it hard to take an afternoon nap. Everything else including the hot tub was amazing!
Beautiful duplex with a kitchenette- mini fridge for the restaurant leftovers and bottles of bubbly. King bed was soft and plush great sleep all together!! Loved the backyard space - we enjoyed the hot tub in 45 degree weather under the stars - hot tub could be hotter but still enjoyed! We stayed for NYE and NY - neighbors put on a firework display we were able to watch from the couch with a cozy fire going 💖 thanks for a wonderful stay and the memories we made!

Comfortable
This home was great for our stay. The neighborhood is quiet, and we could walk to town. The furnishings (bed, chairs, sofa) were comfortable. The pillows on the bed were too thick and hard, though. Also, when I sat on the couch in living room I got some bug bites on my shoulders. Think it may have possibly been the knitted throw blanket?
Our only complaint is the hot tub doesn’t heat up past 95. Even after doing everything they told us to.

Would not stay here again
I do have some feedback regarding our stay.
•Live cockroach in the kitchen
•Mold in shower. There isn't a shelf in the shower, so having to put all of your stuff on the floor of the shower feels icky, especially since you can see the mold
•Water in the sinks does not drain well
•It would be a nice touch if there was a water filter of some sort to fill up water bottles
Thank you!
Loved this house, yard was so pretty and house was charming. There was construction going on in the back but it wasn’t too bad. Our only complaint was that the couch was very stained and dirty, had to put a blanket over it to sit on and the porch swing needs to be vacuumed or swept off but it was very nice sitting out on the porch swing and the hot tub was great without too much chlorine smell but very clean and enjoyable.

Charming Cottage
I go away on my birthday each year for a solo trip to refresh and recharge. I write, read and just listen for God to speak. This was a great cottage for that. It was quiet, the front porch was amazing and the couch was super comfy to curl up on...and I LOVED the bathtub! The house was very clean and I am very particular about that. The only drawback is that it is easily a mile walk to get to the active area of main street. That wasn't an issue for me in cooler weather but be prepared to maybe drive your car in the heat of the summer. It's not super walkable.

Nice room
The apartment was nicely set up and generally comfortable, which I appreciate as an interior designer. However, there were a few details that could be improved: very uncomfortable pillows and only 2 sleeping pillows available. I used a towel as a pillow until my relative brought us 2 more from their house. There were only 2 coffee cups, so when family came to meet us we served them coffee in small bowls. It worked, but not ideal. The tub was wonderful but the hot water was not quite hot enough to fill up the entire tub to soak. The water had a strong chlorine smell, though many may not be as sensitive as I am to chemical odors.

Very Good
This would have been an Excellent rating except for two things - first, the hot tub area is advertised as private, however the access gate from the driveway, even though there is a latch is not secure. The latching mechanism is very poor and was for the most part it was useless. Worse was the "gate" between the back yard areas of the Jeannine unit and the Charmaine unit, which was not secure at all. I could find no latch to secure the gate from even the wind blowing it open. Both of these gates should be "lockable" from the inside in order to make them truly private.
Thanks,
Gordon
