Absolutely Charming 3BR/2BA Home just Minutes from the Beach Sleeps 6
About Lorie Wiebrecht
I was born in Bar Harbor and my entire family lives or works only 5 minutes from our rental homes. My husband was born in Wisconsin and he fell in love with MDI the first time I took him there in 1996. He knew even before I did that we MUST have our own property there so that we would always have an excuse to go north whenever we could! Mt. Desert Island is such a beautiful place - we both are so thankful that we can experience it many times a year and I must say that we are struck by the beauty and the solitude every time we go 'home.' We hope that you truly have a wonderful time whether it is your first experience or you have been visiting for 20 years. My Dad's motto is...'If you come to Maine one time it won't be your last time.' Of course he is pretty bias on the subject - having lived in Bar Harbor all his life! I wish everyone could get one of his Island tours-they are awesome to say the least! He started working as a chauffeur at age 15 and he can tell some stories. He and my Mom owned several restaurants and motels and even developed the largest campground on the Island, Bar Harbor Campground which my youngest brother now manages. Seems like our family has been in the hospitality trade forever and...with all that experience we have certainly learned how to take good care of our guests!

Amazing getaway outside Bar Harbor and Acadia Nat Park
The house was a perfect location about a 15 minute drive from downtown Bar Harbor and a 10 minute drive to Acadia National Park. Although it is very close to all the major attractions in the area, it is located in a peaceful and quiet wooded area about a 10 minute walk to Hadley Point beach. The house has a wraparound deck and gas barbeque grill. It was clean and well maintained and stocked with just about anything one could need while on vacation. The house has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, a full kitchen with all appliances, 2 full bathrooms, 2 sitting/living areas, and a laundry room with washer and dryer. It was perfect for 2 adult couples and it could have accommodated a 3rd couple in the extra loft bedroom. The owner of the property was extremely helpful and gave us many wonderful suggestions for exploring the area. We highly recommend this property and will definitely stay here again when visiting the area.
This location was just what we needed
Close to town for restaurants and shopping
But best of all close to Arcadia National Park which we enjoyed hiking and photographing for four days, loved it!
Deer were right out our window the very first morning.
Thank you Susan!
Your family was a great match for this home! It is always nice when each generation can have their own space yet enjoy gathering together for TV and meal time.
Yes, this house is in a wonderful location-close to the beach, mini-golf, great ice cream and BBQ.
Also there is a winery and several places to get lobster and homemade pie within 5-10 minutes! I must say that Mainers are all about the PIE and when the blueberries are ripe...watch out...you will be in heaven!!!
AND...the Free shuttle bus stops right up the road as well.
Maine is fabulous and when you are ready to plan a great vacation there I can help with planning.
Thank you! Lorie
Most Amazing Vacation!
Lori's property is exactly as described and more! Everything one could possibly need is neatly arranged in the charming cozy home. My family of 6 very much enjoyed our stay at Spruce Lodge and Lori went OVER THE TOP to make certain we had everything we needed. The home is spotless and was the perfect space to host our family vacation. We will be back for sure!
Thank you Mary!
I know that you had the best experience ever!!
Mary has given me permission to share her story and I am going to do it now!
Mary brought her fiance, 2 daughters, one son in law and one grandchild to Maine for a wonderful vacation.
But...what she didn't know is that she had a well-planned surprise in her future!
On day two of their vacation the family decided to visit Cadillac Mountain which is definitely a place that everyone should see. On the mountain there are Park signs that ask you not to remove any rocks from that location as the rocks help to keep the soil in place.
Well...Mary's fiance placed a diamond ring in a ring box on top of a stack of rocks on the mountain and asked Mary to marry him!!! And...I do believe that it was OK to take that rock off the mountain!!!
Is that the cutest story or what?! I love it...they sent me the pictures from the proposal and it melted my heart!! It is hearing of experiences like these that inspire me to keep making my homes available to guests who want to make memories with their loved ones!
So many couples get married on MDI and then return to the Island for their Honeymoons year after year!
One year in the same house I had 3 couples in a row that were celebrating their anniversary-4 years, 14 years and 44 years! I thought that I should be playing the lottery with the number 4 that summer!! :-)
If you would like to plan a vacation to remember please contact me for help with that!
Thank you! Lorie
Lori was very pleasant to work with. She anticipated every need. The house was the perfect get away after a day of exploring. We loved the little cabin in the woods. We would definitely recommend.
Thank you Deanna!
I actually got the opportunity to meet this family and that was very nice. Wish I could meet everyone that stays with us.
This family used to camp close by this house so it was so fitting that they were in the same area for their vacation this summer.
I do try to anticipate what guests might need while on vacation and stock the house accordingly. It is a fun challenge and if someone asks for something that I have not added I try to get that item into the house as soon as I can. I believe that if one person wants or needs something another might as well.
We have other vacation rentals listed on Homeaway so if you would like to discuss the best option for your family please contact me.
Thank you! Lorie
I visited Bar Harbor with my husband, and in-laws from June 9th - June 14th. I could not be happier with our HomeAway choice! Lorie's place was even better than advertised online. The first thing I noticed was just how clean the cabin is - This property is extremely well kept. There is plenty of room for a family of 6 to sleep comfortably. There were four TV's (one in each room, and one in each living space on the first floor and basement level) and they came equipped with cable. We did not take advantage, but the house also has a closest full of games. The shower, toilet, laundry machines, were all in excellent condition. The kitchen was also fully stocked with everything you would need to cook a meal. The house location was superb. Close to Acadia National Park (about 10 minutes from the entrance) and 15 minutes from the center of the Town Square. Highly recommend this property! Lorie was also a fantastic host, checking in with us to make sure we had what we needed, and she was clear with her instructions on how to check-out. Thank you for a wonderful stay, Lorie!
Perfect Acadia lodge!
We cannot say enough nice things about our stay at Spruce Lodge! The entire house is spotless and had absolutely everything we needed to be completely comfortable for our week in Acadia. The furniture and beds are very comfortable, the bathrooms were sparkling clean, and the kitchen had everything we needed to make most of our meals 'at home'. Spruce Lodge is in a wonderful location - we enjoyed the deck and the peaceful wooded area around the house, and we appreciated how easy it was to get from the house to the Hulls Cove entrance to Acadia, the Bar Harbor waterfront area, Southwest Harbor and out to Schoodic Peninsula. We were all quite sad when it was time to leave and sincerely hope we will get to visit Spruce Lodge OFTEN! Lorie answered all of our questions quickly and offered wonderful tips for where to buy groceries in advance, activities in the area, etc. Thank you Lorie for a most wonderful week In Acadia! You have made Spruce Lodge feel completely like home!
'Spruce Lodge' is located 3 miles from the bridge onto Mt. Desert Island and 7 miles from downtown Bar Harbor. The Visitor's Center located at one of the entrances of Acadia National Park is 10 minutes away. The Island Explorer which provides free bus service to downtown Bar Harbor, other Island towns and Acadia National Park, stops just up the road. Ellsworth which is 12 miles away has more movie theaters, restaurants and shopping. And don't forget the L.L. Bean Outlet Store, Marden's and Reny's which are all located on (Rt. 3) High Street! They have 'Wicked Good' stuff!
Other Activities: kayaking, mini golf, shopping, movies
