Main-level living in wood home in upscale, gated community of vacation homes
The Wood Chalet, a unique wooden home constructed of teak, is strategically located between Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park, in an upscale, gated community with 24/7 security, where each house is hidden in the flora, and privately situated to view the fauna. This idyllic location is simply the best of beach and jungle. Ideal for a naturalist or honeymoon couple. Spacious, open living area with full kitchen and huge upscale bathroom for pampering yourself. The chalet is managed onsite, and the reception will check you in, offer assistance, and be available throughout your stay for questions or concerns. They can also assist you with travel and book tours for your convenience.
View the monkeys and the sloth that inhabit the rain forest canopy surrounding the chalet from it's roomy covered porch or patio areas. Toucans, mccaws, mot-mots, humming birds, and scarlet tanagers frequent the area. Pamper yourself at the Raindrop Spa, hike the nature trails, or simply relax and surround yourself with the sounds and sights as the tropical rain forest comes alive around you.
The Chalet is located in the natural habitat of species such as the squirrel monkey, white faced Capuchin monkey, three-toed sloth, and numerous bird species. For human contact, walk into the quaint village of Quepos, a center of sport fishing and enjoy the quaint shops and restaurants of an authentic Costa Rican town.

About Cynthia Hale
Cynthia is enjoying retirement and travels extensively.
Cynthia Hale purchased this House in 2006
Why Cynthia Hale chose Quepos
Cynthia has been traveling to Costa Rica since she was 17 and wanted a second home in the Manuel Antonio area. The Chalet was her choice because it is very private, yet located with other single-family homes just a short walk into Quepos (famous for its offshore sport fishing) and a short bus ride to Manuel Antonio National Park. She lives in Quepos and is only a few minutes away to assist guests in all aspects of their stay.

Beautiful, quiet and cozy
Cynthia was the best host that I have ever stayed with. The home was simply gorgeous and quiet. It is centrally located so you can walk to Quepos or catch the bus to Manuel Antonio for about 60 cents. Cynthia met me upon arrival and was there for anything that I needed or questions that I may have had. Since I arrived late and had not eaten, she had left me a delicious meal in the fridge for me to have dinner. The bathroom was extraordinary. The water was hot and the bed was very comfortable. The Jacuzzi tub and shower was by far the best feature of the home. The kitchen is quaint and I used it very often. Very up to date appliances and never had a problem with using anything. The mornings were the best. You are able to sit on the patio and enjoy a cup of coffee. Overall, Casa Chalet has been one of the best places that I have rented and I will definitely be back again!
All the essentials
We travel on a budget so price is very important to us. Casa Chalet has all the essentials at a very reasonable price. The owner Cynthia was very kind and helpful. Often we saw monkeys and exotic birds in the trees around the house. It is an older property so if you're the sort of traveler that expects first rate amenities you'll be disappointed. Also it is about 6 kilometers to Manuel Antonio so you'll have to drive. Although you can easily walk into the town of Quepos. But at this price point I still consider it a good value.
Casa Chalet is located in the private vacation rental community of Manuel Antonio Estates, which is situated less than 3 kilometers to Manuel Antonio. The national park is a bit further on the same road. Most of my guests come without a car and use the excellent bus system that loops from Quepos to the park every half hour for about 60 cents per ride. A bus stop is near our gated entrance. Yes, this charming teak chalet is 20 years old, but this is the first time a guest has assigned a rating due to the age of the building. Appliances are all less than 5 years old, the sofa and chairs have recently been reupholstered, housewares are kept up-to-date, as are the linens. The bathroom is surpassed by none with it's huge luxurious jacuzzi. My housekeeper did a thorough cleaning the morning of the arrival, and everything was fresh and attractive including a porch flower arrangement and a welcoming pineapple. I guess everyone has their own expectations, but using the term "first rate" does not explain what they felt the deficiencies were.
This was a great location, within walking distance to shopping in Quepos and the harbor area, and a short drive to the National Park. It was also quiet, within a gated community. We saw many birds, an iquana, and had two monkeys chase each other across our deck one evening! Cynthia welcomed us with a fresh pineapple, symbol of hospitality, and was a gracious hostess.
Yes, my location is perfect for guests who enjoy walking, and the local bus passes every 15 minutes as it loops from Quepos to the national park. The rain forest setting guarantees that you will view numerous birds, animals, and tropical plants.
Perfectly located in quiet & convenient neighborhood
This home is great for a couple to get away and enjoy what both Manuel Antonio and Quepos have to offer. The location is secure and the directions to the place are written perfectly making it easy to find even though its tucked away from the noise of Quepos. The area is quite humid, so expect that no matter where you choose to stay. The neighborhood is nice for morning and evening walks as its both quiet and scenic. The drive and bus ride to Manuel Antonio was quick and easy, as was the walk into Quepos. Cynthia was helpful in every way she could be and made us feel welcome.
Thank you for the thoughtful review. I enjoyed having you stay at Casa Chalet, and happy that you liked the private location with quick access to all the amenities the area has to offer.
Casa Chalet is a neat place to stay if you are visiting Quepos. We saw a lot of wildlife while lounging on the porch. It is within walking distance to everything in Quepos including the bus station where you can cheaply travel to other places around Costa Rica. The owner was very helpful. Thank you for sharing your home.
Thank you for choosing my romantic rain forest chalet for your stay. I enjoyed meeting you and am so pleased that you had a wonderful stay.
Relaxing in the topical forest
First, everything you see in the pictures is accurate. This is a beautiful studio style abode in an exclusive "estate". Very private, but easy to walk to Quepos for shopping and quick drive to Manual Antonio for beach, park and eat out. The rocking chair on the porch was our favorite place to spend time, reading, talking and watching everything from monkeys play to butterflies cavort. A very relaxing vacation.
Please remember this is Costa Rica, so "outages" of some sort are bound to happen, from electricity to wifi.
I always appreciate a client taking time to write a wonderful review such as this one. My house is in the rain forest away from the noise of the main road, but close to all the amenities. You will have a great opportunity to see the wild life as it comes to you here!
Here you will experience an adventure vacation in the tropical forest, surrounded by Costa Rica’s most beautiful natural environments. It is the natural habitat of species such as the Titi monkey, white faced Capuchin monkey, howler monkey, three-toed sloth, and numerous bird species such as mccaws and toucans. For human contact, walk into the quaint village of Quepos, a center of sport fishing and enjoy the quaint shops and restaurants of an authentic Costa Rican town.
Minutes from the most visited national park in Costa Rica - Manuel Antonio National Park. Gorgeous beaches that are outlined by mangrove and coconut trees for shade. Arts, crafts, restaurants right on the beach! I can book for you numerous tours and activities (see above)
Other Activities: kayaking, zip-lining, fishing, boating, parasailing, wildlife viewing, horse riding, spa, jet ski, ATV, rafting, kayaking, etc.
