Welcome to “Bell Hallow.” Come enjoy art and wine festivals, and music concerts of the Santa Cruz Mountains, including Shakespeare festival at UCSC, also, Ben Lomond is home to our own live Mountain Theater.

For the motor cycle enthusiast, back roads with stunning views and road side taverns. Miles and miles and miles of mountain side, sea side and country side roads to explore.

Hike Big Basin National Park with excellent hiking all the way to the coast, (see the giant redwoods). With any hiking, perhaps you will have sightings of our neighborhood deer, fox, bob cat, coyote, mountain lion and other wild creatures.
There is always the beaches and Boardwalk in Santa Cruz.

OR come paint, write that book, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the forest, where the sound of the birds and the river surround you on a quiet sunny afternoon by the pool or on the back deck over hanging the river.

Or, in season, there is catch and release Steel Head fishing in the San Lorenzo River right at your feet.

More than 30 wineries are open within 10 miles in the Santa Cruz Mountains including Bonny Doon, Byington, Storrs, Hall Crest, and David Bruce wineries, to name a few. The Santa Cruz mountains are a natural appellation for Pinot Noir grapes.

Gatsby in the ruff........: BELL HALLOW is a brown shingle 2 bedroom family cottage sitting on the banks of the San Lorenzo River in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Tastefully furnished with family antiques, oriental rugs, and lots of wonderful memories. A cozy deck hangs over the river bank...The perfect spot for a mint julep. BELL HALLOW offers Ping Pong, Horse shoes, other 'court' games, and swimming in a very private pool.

How Bell Hallow received its name. In 1906, after the Big Quake, parts of the valley was clear cut of Redwoods to rebuild San Francisco. Teams of Oxen would help guide the mammoth redwood trees down the San Lorenzo River flues to the lumber mills. On their harness there was a rack of 5 bells that gently rang with each step they took. The music of the bells reverberated on the banks while King Fishers sang. Yes there is a history and great stories.

Owner info

Year Purchased: 1919

About the owner: I am 4th generation Bell Hallow, 5th generation Californian. As an artist I can't imagine a better place to be. For me it is a great pivotal point for the San Francisco area all the way to Big Sur.....and look where I get to live. It just doesn't get any better. :-) What a ride!

Why the Owner Chose Ben Lomond, CA, USA:
This property has been in my family for over 90 years. 4 generations + the new 5th generation that is surfacing, (5 little ones so far) have enjoyed long summer evenings, and roaring fires on dark stormy nights. The home is loaded with wonderful memories and lots of laughter. They believe Fairies live here.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
I have been told many times that this is a magical piece of land where healing of the soul takes place. It must be that if you are quiet, you hear the whispers of the majestic Redwoods, the gentle rush of the river, the songs of the birds, and sounds of nature.
